Who laughed? Go back to his transfer thread. Most of the Caf wanted us to buy him. Not sure where this new myth is coming from that the Caf was against signing Mane, but it's total bollocks.
It's not a myth. Unless it was the same posters repeating themselves I recall the overwhelming majority on here thinking he wasn't good enough.

Many people belived we got a better one in mkh. We needed both, and this was i was talking about when i said we needed more.

Again, check his transfer thread. It was only a minority who didn't want him.
Don't really agree tbh. I remember there being significant anti-Mane feeling at the time. Whether this was partly due to growing disallusion with LvG is up for debate but I remember lots of people whingeing along the lines of "we are Utd we should be in for bigger names"

Oh come on, you are on the same page here.
Mane and Mkhi would've sent us above our £150m budget. It was one or the other, at the time, Mkhi was the better player. Hindsight is wonderful but what can you do?

Would I love if we had gotten Mane? For sure. Do I blame the club for it not happening? No.

What do you mean you don't agree? I've given you the evidence, it doesn't matter if you don't agree. You can't argue facts.

Mkhitaryan already has 5 assists this season and was a key player in our Europa league run in.

Your the one talking bollocks, a few of us wanted him but a lot were repeating the myth about him being inconsistent and didnt want him. There were a lot of people opposed to the idea of him being signed.

So what? We needed a winger reguardless who's an upgrade on mata and lingard. Even if we had got perisic for decent price he would have been an inferior option to mane. We will have to spend in the future reguardless.

Just to be clear, I'm not saying I wished the club got him over Mkhi, I'm saying it would've been nice to get him too, but I understand why we didn't.

You're*

Just read the fecking thread, it speaks for itself.

Most thought he was a very good signing for Liverpool, but expensive (which he was, at the time), and were happy with us getting Mkhi over him (which is fair, Mkhi was the better player at the time). There weren't "a lot of people" opposed, they were some, but not nearly as many who would've liked him signed.

You can see just by reading the first few pages when we were initially linked with him that most people wanted him.

Seriously, it's pretty amazing to see the Caf argue facts, like, you know, the actual posts on the Caf.

But not over MKH or along with mkh. We were linked to him a year ago when we lost pedro.

He has been very good, but I still am not disappointed that we did not sign him. We have some good talent in Rashford and Martial who play in his position.

I would like Salah though, could solve our problem on the right side of the wings.

By the way, as great as Mane is I doubt he would play as well for us as he does for Liverpool. Klopp's system fits him perfectly. I'd still take him in a heartbeat mind you

Agreed on both counts. I like Mata and Mkhitaryan a lot but I'd swap them for Mane in a second. Martial on the other hand should become a much better player eventually.

Disagree with this, His off the ball movement , vision creativity and work rate is also v v good and would do well in any top 6 side in england.
No I completely agree, he would do well for us, just not AS well as at Liverpool. Really impressed how he's stepped up after the move

He was pretty much the shining star in southhampton vs the chelsea's and city's and liverpool's and created problems for us too.

Yeah he was quite obviously their best player and showed up in big games often. He had some runs of 5 or 6 games where he was absolutely invisible though. Still wanted him, but I'm not angry we bought Mkhi over him.

I haven't seen the facts you are referring to, I have only seen the post I quoted.

How is it that me and other members remember so clearly a proportionally significant number of anti-Mane posts? Did we all imagine it? Why would we lie about this? What would the purpose be of doing so?

And on the subject of facts...yes facts are facts, but facts can be interpreted differently. It could be a fact that 2/10 of posters were anti-Mane yet two people might interpret whether 2/10 constitutes a significant number differently

If only there were some way to find out, like, I don't know, reading the thread.

What a fantastic signing he's turned out to be. If only Coutinho would turn up and play the way we know he can, then our forward line would be incredible.

If Coutinho leaves we are very vulnerable to injuries.

Gutted as I really wanted us to sign him and thought he'd be perfect for us.

So many of you keep mentioning Martial, as he's somehow destined to surpass Mane soon. I don't watch United nearly as much as you, but is he really that good?

If Coutinho does leave I'd get a winger in and play Mane centrally.

He is terrific. Play him just off of Firmino.
