Premier League Matchday 4 (Sep 9-11)

So, on the downside, City won.

On the upside, Liverpool got thrashed.

It'll do.

When Smalling got a red v City a few years ago LVG team kept fighting and gave City a real game.

It's a poor excuse.
Indeed. I kept hearing the pundit (Jim Beglin who seems to be a massive Liverpool fan) excusing that performance with the red card. I mean wtf, had it ended up 2-0 or 3-0 at a push I'd understand but it was 5-0 with zero fighting and completely bending over to take it. At least show some respect for your fans.

Walker and Mendy both look good. It begs the question why we done nothing to strengthen our full back positions. Good full backs are vital these days.

Oxlade Chamberlain loses 4-0 at Arsenal. signs for the team who beat them 4-0. Loses 5-0.

Sadio Mane would have had no effect on preventing 5 goals being conceded. Maybe it would've ended 5-1 or 5-2 instad but nothing takes away from the fact Liverpool's defence is absolutely putrid and no amount of Klopps bollocks or the fans moral victories will change that.

As a Liverpool fan I would be worried, any team with a half dent player that plays between the lines is going to cause havoc for that defense.
he's another with the ' attack is better than defence,' philosophy.

Pep has just spent more on quality in attack but both are dogmatic in their belief

Why on earth have Madrid/Barca allowed D.Silva to spend pretty much his whole career at Shitty, do these Spanish midgets 'dream of Madrid' only when they play for us? Such an amazing player, pisses me off watching him play for these twats

Apart from DDG and Ronaldo, we've never had class players that Madrid or Barcelona would be interested in.

The bolded bit is the side effect of looking through some super rose tinted glasses for a long time.

He played for Liverpool so he would be on their side.

Indeed. It makes no sense to capitulate like that, Mané doesn't play at the back, he doesn't control the terrible positionning of their defenders.

Not really surprised, I mentioned before that I think Pep got the fullbacks he wanted and it could well be good business. Mendy I thought looked really good, and well, you add to players like De Bryune. Jesus was great too.

Oxlade Chamberlain loses 4-0 at Arsenal. signs for the team who beat them 4-0. Loses 5-0.

So, maybe we should give him to you for a free?

We don't lose that 5-0 if it's 11v11 for 90 minutes.

I thought we were slightly better that City up until the red card. Stupidity from Mane and Klopp's poor in game management after that led to a 5-0 score line. Even terrible defenders can look decent if they're protected properly.

Also City could do just what PSG did if they wanted to. You can't get in to a pissing contest with state backed clubs.

Because Madrid never signed Beckham from us and football was invented in 2008... :wenger::wenger:

I'd take him, in reality, he's a good footballer. Just one of those days for you guys where nothing went right.

What are you on about? With eleven men it was a tight game, 1-0, and Liverpool looked threatening on the counter. Salah should have made it 1-1.

Instead, Mane, their by far best player, gets sent off, so not only are the numbers down, but they've lost the main player to scare City. City go 2-0 up just before the break, and it's pure damage limitation there on in.

Klopp wrote it off, taking Salah and Firminho off early, and that helped the pathetic display after that.

My emotions are really confused as to how they should feel about that match.

I'm happy that Liverpool got thumped but sad that City did the thumping.

Mourinho tends to prefer a full back to attack and one to defend, probably why he's fine with someone like Blind

Thought Danilo looked better than Stones and Ottamendi as a CB. Says everything about the latter.

How about we get beat 5-0 by Burnley at Anfield next week, would that work for you?

KDB is such a class act. Can't help but like him even if he is a City player.
