I just have a sneaky feeling he will start on Sunday. He arrived at Carrington last week and has been training with the rest of the group. I don't know if the quotes by Mourinho relate to Pogba or not but if he wasn't available he would've just said "I'm not going to speak about the injured ones" or something like that. I guess it will keep Chelsea guessing but imagine if he suddenly appears on the team sheet....
I think he is talking about Pogba and Fellaini here. Even one of them fit for the match can be crucial for us. If they are fit enough, they'll go straight back into the starting 11.

If (by the grace of the gods) Pogba is starting on sunday, we will actually try to attack in a decent manor.
If not, we will park the bus, put Herrera on Hazard, try scoring on crosses, counter and set pieces. (Which is totally sensible seeing as without PP, the team struggles to attack against an established defense.)

With France squad already announced, even if he makes the bench it means he gets the next week off..

I think he could make the bench against Chelsea, and then return against Newcastle.
If Pogba is fit enough for the bench vs Chelsea, we'll start him.

Think Jose would rather start him in a three, then eventually take him off than sub him on.

He was considered for surgery, so it must have been quite serious. Personally I think there simply isn't a return date yet, as he still isn't in full training.
Yeah true they considered surgery but decided against it so it must not have been that bad, not saying it's wasn't a bad one just not as bad as it could have been. We have seen videos of him sprinting and dancing so now that it's been 7 weeks i expect to see him back playing after the international break.

I agree i doubt theres a specific date in mind yet, he's just ready when he's ready. If this was April or May and we were in contention for trophies i suspect he would have been playing already.

Have we seen anything other than that very brief sprint a while ago? Running for 90 minutes is quite a step up from that...

Has to be one of the most bizarre injury scenarios that I've ever seen. Ambiguous throughout from the extent of the injury to his return.

Well yes of course mate but the fact he's sprinting at all a few weeks after a hamstring injury suggests it isn't the type of muscle tear that would keep him out until the new year.

Now that the France squad has been announced and he's not in it, I think he is now clear to return on Sunday.

Possibly.
Haven't seen anything that suggests he's that close.
Can't see him suddenly returning for this one when we can give it another two full weeks to the next game

Not until the new year, no. But it did take around 6 weeks before he sprinted. Don't think we'll see him in action before after the international break. So 18th Nov. Hamstring injuries can be some difficult shite to recover from without setbacks. I have a lot of experience with them.

JM has two choices IMO:

Start and risk Pogba and go for the win!

Rest him for another 3 weeks and park the bus and hope for draw or late goal on the counter!

With City already building up momentum and a 5 point lead over us I’m hoping if he’s fit he starts and we go for it against a very bad chelsea back line team who got spanked this week!

I think jose will rest him though and go for the draw unfortunately. He still doesn’t have faith in us going away against a top team and attacking.

I don’t get all this ‘rest’ talk, personally. He hasn’t played for two months. He doesn’t need ‘rest’. What he needs is to heal, and he has either healed or he hasn’t. If he ‘hasn’t’, then yes, he should wait a couple more weeks or whatever. If he HAS fully healed, then he should be playing on Sunday, and people shouldn’t be so against him getting to play some fecking football for his country either. He needs to play football if he’s fit. Resting a fully recovered athlete who hasn’t competed for two months is doing him no favours at all.

Very true! Im assuming most people mean, rest from ball work or contact, however back to your point, he hasnt played in weeks so either hes fit and ready to play and should play for us and france to get match fit or hes not healed/fit and need longer! Good point

If we play him France will call him up right? If we don't play him, can't we refuse to release him for international duty? I'd opt to do that rather than risk him being injured during the break.

Them who think that Pogba will not return on sunday, of course could be right. But I'd like to throw something else into the mix. Chelsea sprung a surprise on United last season with the 3 at the back. They did use it against Arsenal when the match was already lost a week earlier in a damage limitation. But they and it totally caught Jose out.

In return Jose nearly caught them in the cup and did wipe the floor with them in Old Trafford so he did get some measure of revenge. But I think he is not past pulling a Fergie and springing a surprise on them back.

I guess what im saying is... If fit! Its as likely he could start as not and was already held back, I just wouldn't put it past Jose!

Rest Pogba, park the bus, if needed bring the shelter, or even build a bus Terminal. Chelsea is being hammered by Roma. And without Kante, there will be less-engine in Midfield we should be worry. Attack Bakayoko, he might be physically strong, but imho, lack of pace needed to play in EPL. Morata is aint a beast like Costa, our CB will tame him.

Hazard, Willian, and Pedro, those names we should be worried about.

December will come soon. Pogba will be needed more than ever.

I think it's because Pogba went abroad for his treatment against Jose's wishes so Jose was just making a point by saying he didn't know when he'd be Pogback cos he hadn't seen him.

The Sun claimed he's been training with the 1st team for a few days now?

Jose knows the Chelski set up. It might mean worried phone calls to the manager, from hangers on (or higher ups) if rumours are circling. Disrupt, confuse, sow confusion.

Shouldn't we wait for something credible before changing the title?

It is no more a risk to play a fit footballer on Sunday than it is in one, two or three months time.

All that matters is if he has fully recovered or not. If he hasn’t, don’t play him. If he has, the next step is to actually play football, not ‘rest’ for more weeks, despite not having played for two months as it is.

Personally, I have no problem with him playing on Sunday and then playing for his country if indeed he is now healed. Not playing football will do him no favours.

I think what people are getting at is that nobody can say with absolute certainty that, yes, the injury is 100% healed. With each week that goes past, though, we can be more and more certain that it is. That's always a balancing act when footballers get injured. The need to get them back playing football asap (for the good of the team and their own fitness or "match rhythm" as Van Gaal would say) versus the possible longer term benefits of one more week doing specialised training with the least possible chance of over-stressing the injury. So, if Pogba does sit out the match this weekend then leaving it another couple of weeks before playing a match could have long-term benefits.

So is he in the squad for the game or back training or both?
