Why do people belittle the kid anyway? The only reason I can think of is because we'd like to think that in Rashford we have a player as good, or better, or something?

It is a bit weird to see it for a quite clearly very talented young player.

People like to see him not do well, but I cant see how he wouldnt.
That's what I don't get. It's not like he plays for a rival and it impacts us if he does well. Surely the standard football fan would want to see a young talent develop into a top player?

Maybe it's cause he's at PSG now or something.

Yeah it is weird. Isn't even like PSG are our rivals.

Both overrating and discrediting of Mbappe have happened in this thread. Though he's mostly overrated.

And from what I've observed @Raoul has taken the Mbappe over hyping a bit personally because of how he's perceived as superior talent to Rashford(which he is despite being overrated) and that's why he's quick to change the thread title as soon as the kid went a bit quiet.

Beside that, what truly baffled me was hearing the likes of Ferdinand and Gerrard label him as world class after his showing against Bayern. I mean I expect fans and fanboys to write some silly stuff and act so kneejerk like and call him the next Messi but people being paid to be professional pundits, analysts etc shouldn't show such ignorance.

Not sure about the mod bit (Raoul) but agree with most of that.

I think the moment he was 'paired off' against Rashford, there was a wave of negativity towards him on here and from there came the sentiment of some wanting an 18yr old to fail to suit their own agendas.

There's also those who work against the praise, calling it 'hype' and purposely bringing him down or chastising him as a counter-balance to that.

It's all very sad and petty. Never seen anything like it, I guess mainly because 18 and 19yr old superstars don't come along but once a decade, if that.

He is a phenomenon and he'll be terrifying the best defenses in the world for over a decade. He's unstoppable on the counter.

Plenty of people wanting to discredit him but that's what happens when you're this good, it will only get worse as the years pass.

I guess that most discrediting stems from people being obsessed with comparing him to X, Y and Z, and especially Rashford. He's an absolute beast, it's quite easy to see.

It's thoroughly laughable that Rashford is compared to him. Only on a united forum. Ask any other fan and they will tell you Rashdord isn't a quarter of the talent Mbappe is.

Mbappe is clearly a level above Rashford in all honesty, but Rashford too is one of the bigger talents in his age category.
As rated by non-Utd fans?

Not saying I disagree with you, mind, I just avoid the Rashford threads because they're mental.

Rashford is a good talent, but there really shouldn't even be a debate between Mbappe and Rashford at this moment. But hey, this is the same forum that made a thread about not swapping Martial for Messi with mass agreement..

Talent, i don't think rashford's far behind. The thing with Mbappè is, how many players would you think have been better in 2017?

I'd think so, the Golden Boy shows that too I think. And just watching him and other 19 year olds, he is certainly up there. I would have Mbappe, Jesus, Dembele abd maybe Asensio as better players but not many others.

Rashford clearly has the talent to go along way but I’m not sure he’s at the level of Mbappe Jesus or Dembele - but time is on his side - would be great to see a Manc lad reach the very top though

Funnily enough, the way people acts is the closest comparison you can make with Cristiano Ronaldo. People want to make him look bad when he isn't and that's when he "decides" to score or assist. Though Anderlecht and Angers aren't exactly brilliant oppositions.
