Play and player. Two letters. A little knee jerk but play was meant. Ive praised him a lot all season. Why would I think hes a shit player?
I don't know mate. You could have just owned up and said you was heated at the time. I'm not buying it that you meant 'play'. It's whatever though, lets just leave it here, I dont want to argue.

His attitude has stunk of late. Needs to get his head out of his arse.

I love Rashford but his decision making seems to have become even worse.
I don't think playing out wide, despite having the physical and technical tools, is good for him because he has way too much time to think. He strikes me as an instinctive player.

He seems to be in an angry young man phase, poor tonight but he clearly isn't happy on the right.
It was bizarre how angry he is right now.
I thought him fcking up the pass to Lukaku and then getting a yellow summed him up. In fact he didnt even look up. He was intent on just going himself.

His set pieces are so bleh too.

I'm serious. Way too negative about a young player making his way.

However its funny how a goal either way grants permission to criticise or not. Same game tonight but somehow we win. Would you be chastising us for criticising performances?
Way too negative? I made one comment about an awful performance. I really cant be bothered to argue this. Ill admit Im annoyed and am saying shit that I dont mean. In all honesty, we were a little flat but I dont think we were that bad. That mistake from Rashford cost us and to be honest, Im not flattered by his recent performances. However, there is a key difference between me literally posting one thing and others who criticise us after every game. If youre going to call me on that, then dont bother replying to my posts.

He's definitely hit a rough patch, which isn't unusual for young players, but Mourinho keeps giving him game time which is frustrating. I know we don't have a huge number of options to replace him but I think he needs a bit of time out to reflect and regroup. Even with his general play being poor at the moment he could still have scored 2 absolute belters recently if the shot tonight and against Bournemouth had gone in.

We should start playing him up top with Martial IMO. Don't think he's a lone striker type (still young mind you), but I don't really like him on the wing either. He runs into dead ends too much and kind of just wants to sprint past everyone and cut inside to shoot instead of using his brain. When he plays through the middle, he can run the channels, drift wide, drop deep to pick up the ball and shoot from distance, or run in behind.

Though overall his performances have dried up quite a bit the past month or 2, and on top of that he's been a bit whiny on the pitch and not showing that same "exuberant youth" attitude that he had his first year. He'll be fine long term of course, but I really want us to start building towards a tactic and set up that can get the best out of both Martial and Rashford, as they are our most talented attacking players.

Poor. His shooting has improved a lot though.

But, personally, I am just not convinced he'll ever be a top top player. I just don't think he's that talented IMO.

I know judging a player body's language is annoying, but he doesn't seem to be putting in as much effort lately. Maybe something's affecting him.

Today confirms the fans biasness towards him and them giving free pass to Martial. Martial was much worse than him today. I like both of them but if anyone tells me Martial was better then surely they clearly are biased.

Why on earth is it bizarre he was really angry tonight? He narrowly missed scoring when he hit the post and then made the wrong decision a couple times in clear cut scoring opportunities. His first touch was also shite a few times as well. I would be very worried if he didn't get as angry as he did with that performance. Nice to see a little bite in a player in this squad...very rare these days. Also loved seeing Pogba get fired up at the ref over tackles flying in. We need more of it from everyone.

Rashford was poor no doubt but Martial was also poor.
I wont disagree with Martial being poor but the ball tended to pop at that feet of Rashford far more and in better positions, and, bar the one shot, he was woeful. He took a free kick and hit it into the one man wall, he takes corners and cant get it past the first man, he shoots every time he gets the ball and when he had the opportunity to play Lukaku in for a 1v1 he decided not to. Having an off day is one thing, being selfish is wrong.

Yup. Make no mistake about it Rashford was poor and his decision making was terrible but he was actually trying to score or look for a way to win us the game. Execution was off but he had dangerous moments which he helped to create.

Martial played this game like it was a best of 7 tie. Nothing he did in the second half indicated he was trying to win the match.

No they are not. Martial did not flick lazily for the 2nd goal and Martial did not try to be selfish when Lukaku was free. Also by the way, Martial is getting plenty of stick too - but it doesn't mean Rashford was not at fault for key moments in the game and was AWFUL.

Him & Martial are the exact type of players Jose can't utilise & would have sold at Chelsea.

They aren't sh*t; Jose only can utilise a certain type of player. You have Rashford for 70 mins trying to cross the ball in for ibrahimpvic.

How does anyone think that's a legitimate tactic or going to get the best out of anyone?

I am beginning to wonder if Jose's strategy of having Martial and Rashford in competition with each other is backfiring. Tonight, they both acted like selfish prima donnas. Rashford shooting on sight and Martial dribbling himself down blind alleys.

Was poor but I think the rotational nature of the squad is hurting some players more than others. I think if he or Martial were playing every week, we'd seem more consistency in their play....

Rashford has a wicked shot on him and Martial is a good dribbler. They like to do these things.

Look, I'm not going to look into more criticisms. Both are young and stupid. However, something I've forgotten in my thread rage, is that Rashford has been incredibly productive but for whatever reason he seems to want to be super selfish recently. Martial, similarly, has been just as effective. What both need to realise is that they're team mates and can go up a level if they utilise each others strengths. Like I said, I think it's more inexperience and stupidity.

Very poor tonight; especially his decision making.

Has been ineffective for quite a few games now. Have no idea why he has status of having played in every single game so far this season.

So you're saying Jose out?

I'm no fan of Jose's attacking style either(if he even has a style).

Have been few games now that he has this problem trying to be the top dog and takes shot himself while ignoring passing chance. If this is the way he decides as his style, he can enjoy the bench for good because clearly Martial is better at dribbling and would create chance to shot himself more. We don't need someone who waste team effort for his selfishness taking stupid shot, while inconsistent with his dribbling and passing.

That is what I was trying to say. They are both great players but they seem to be working as individuals rather than as a team.

Are we going to act like Martial cannot dribble himself into blind alleys? Rashford doesn't take stupid shots. He has hit two wicked shots in 2 games thumping the woodwork. He takes shots because he is good at them. Same reason why he is on free kicks.

He should have squared it to Lukaku but that's about it. When he was on the right he looked to cross it.

I honestly don’t know if Rashford is selfish or just an erratic decision-maker. On a different wavelength a lot of the time.

Rashford is selfish because he is a striker being reverted back to a winger. I noticed it soon as he started practicing shooting outside the box - it's not because he wants to; its because he has to because he is playing further away from the box.

So you're saying Jose out?

I personally don't like him but what I think won't change anything lol

Cut him some slack. His attacking performances or Martial's have definitely helped us a lot this season and calls to have them replaced are unjustified. Perisic or a world class player alone would not have matched their contributions combined for example. They are hardly the problem.

Why is our right side void of any creativity?

Caf's masterminds kept saying play both Martial and Rashford at the same time and push Rashford to the right. Mourinho was a moron for being reluctant to do so.

Well here you go.
Remind us again who decided to play Rashford on the right.

Let's give it some time. Mata has had his whole career at United on the right. Rashford a handful of games. Plus he's clearly off form, no matter where he plays.

1 good shot per game, doesn't mean you would then taking 5 more while ignore a clear chance with passing option. We're talking about Gerrard's blind shooting Ronaldo, Lampard... who takes plenty of shot because of they are good shooter. Ronaldo is better dribbler which create some chance himself. Lampard is smart enough to pass every other time when there was better option.

Dribbling may not always the better, but in game where players stopped to play together as team (this game and few other where Rashford getting into Gerrard mode), the dribbler is preferred as at least he is trying thing instead of right out wasting team effort working to give him the ball by taking shot

Rashford burst on to the scene here as a striker; why has he suddenly become a winger of any sorts?

Yeah except if Jesus doesnt perform at City no big deal someone else picks up the slack. With Rashford he is one of biggest talents and hence we need him to contribute better.
So different standards for United and City players then? Thanks for clearing that up

No but rather City has other top players that are relied on and then the youngsters can do their own thing without being seen as the main threat. At United, Rashford or Martial, whichever of the 2 plays, is usually our main threat. Shut them down, and you pretty much shut down and attack we have. Look back to United when Ronaldo and Rooney were growing up. Shut Ronaldo and Rooney down, and you have Scholes, Giggs and Van Nistelrooy to destroy you as they were our main players then anyway. Teams focus on them while the younger, inconsistent players can develop normally as the supporting cast rather then being the go to player in attack before they are 20.

Surely you know what he means just by watching him play? You can’t just throw stats about when what he said is spot on. He’s still quite raw, his decision making is poor and he just has an aurora about him as if he’s thinking “why would I pass to these lot when I can try something myself”.

He’s obviously an extremely talented player, and yes his end product has been better this season... but he still has a way to go.
Its just a kneejerk posting to me. Had Rashford scored and not hit the post O doubt we'd be seeing it

Sometimes when I watch him I get the feeling he tries too hard to look flashy. Attempts at tricks or shimmying which doesn't make an iota of difference.

I would like to see him get a run up front where the pitch opens up for his movement however.

It's a cup game and we rotated and rested players. If you think Mourinho wants to do this consistently like the Caf wanted then that's on you.

Agree he shouldn't be. When we signed Ibra we had a number of posters saying it'll be great for his development. I argued against that at the time.

However right now his only chance of playing is out wide. Plus whatever position he's in he needs time.

It's a cup game and we rotated and rested players. If you think Mourinho wants to do this consistently like the Caf wanted then that's on you.
Ah so now Mourinho has started picking him a little more frequently on the right, something you were dead against, it's now ok. Your objection has now shifted to him consistently playing there.

It is odd you chastise posters for wanting him on the right but you never comment on the manager for actually playing him there.
