This is Malcom against PSG, all his touches-
Apart from having good ball control and carry the ball what are his strengths? He looks abit like lucas moura in that clip in the sense that he runs a lot and you think something goods gonna come but it rarely does .)

We need more quality in the side. On paper it pales in comparison to City’s side. Mourinho is doing extremely well to be 2nd with the likes of Smalling, Young, Jones, Lingard and others starting virtually every game.
From a purely defensive point of view i have no idea how you don't rate Smalling and Jones but do rate Luiz. He would be horrible for us in a back 4.

Luiz would be a big boost for the team. Knows Mourinho and was a key factor in Chelsea winning the title last year. If we persist with a 343, then I think it would be a big mistake to let somebody like Madrid or Barca have him instead.
Persist? We've only used it a few times this season. We aren't going to sign players specifically for a system we only use every so often. We have been and look like continuing to recruit primarily with 4231/433 in mind.

Cant see a winger/attacker really being a priority in January unless we can get Ozil (but may as well wait till the summer and get him for free)

I'd say a RB should be a priority if Darmian leaves

Malcom and Sergi Roberto would be my guesses.

LB/RB, CAM/SS will have to wait until the Summer TW.

Surely we have enough CBs by now
Not only that, surely we have too many ex Chelsea players too? Not to mention an ex Chelsea manager and backroom staff too.

Turning into the Chelsea of the North!

How many ex Chelsea players do we have now? Is it 3? That's mental!

You’re just talking out of your arse now. Smalling is better than him defensively. Yes, you can always improve the team but centre back is the least of our worries. We have good players there.

Luiz certainly wouldn’t improve it.

If Smalling is better than David Luiz, how come Luiz is linked with the likes of Barca and Real?

Some people talk out of their arse on here. Or they just have really short memories. Luiz has barely put a foot wrong since joining PSG. He’s a proven winner.

Hopefully we can pull a Salah or Mane out of the hat which would comfortably cement top 4. Our record in buying attacking players over the past few years is beyond shocking.

CB is not what we need, and he's a cnut.
A bit overrated defensively, in my opinion, but alright going forward.
Let's focus on RW, CM and/or fullback, please.

Yet everyone is calling out your absurdity for suggesting Luiz is better than what we have. Sorry, we must all be delusional and you are right.

Luiz is certainly improved from his first stint at Chelsea. He had to, because he was still so defensively suspect. He still is a very fallible defender all the same.

If we're going to take another Chelsea player I'd hope it's Willian over anyone else.

Did not say Hazzard because he won't come.

Chelsea won't sell us or Mourinho another one of their players while we're above them in the table. We should be raiding smaller teams with great players if we want to realistically sign anyone in January.

This Malcom looks decent and I trust Mourinho's judgement on him. What ever happened the Belotti and that other guy from Italy? Berardi was it?

If we signed David Luiz, we would then have 7 centre backs. Seven. SEVEN.

8 if you include Blind as a rotation option.

You don't buy a centre back in January when you already have 6 of them. January is for desperate measures. We desperately need a full back and either central midfielder or a right sided attacker.

Not disagreeing with any of this.

Let's go for one of Sanchez, Ozil, or Mane, then.

Mane seems to be unhappy now that Salah is their star attacker, let's do it!

I said in the summer, after we got Matic, that we still needed a cm. Carrick's non-presence, injury to Fellaini and Herrera's form are good reasons to buy a cm.
Pogba and Matic are top tier midfielders, the rest are 2nd tier. We need one more in their bracket to make sure we're more competitive on all fronts.

I don’t need everyone to agree with me to be right. It doesn’t work that way.

Luiz has won the Prem as a key player and a regular starter. Jones and Smalling have never. I think that puts the debate to rest. If he is available, we absolutely should be in for him.

As for not needing a CB... that’s fair enough. But I don’t foresee us winning any league titles as long as Jones and Smalling are in the Team. It’s just not gonna happen. No good patches of form is gonna change my mind on their “talent”. Every footballer has those. We need to be more ruthless.

Alex Sandro seems a strong possibility. CM? Only one I can think of would be the Lazio guy, SMS.

Goretzka will wait till the summer. Will get a massive signing on fee, along with big wages. So he won’t come.

Savic won't leave. He is still within 6 months of his contract FFS. Meanwhile Sandro and Leon Goretza seem Chelsea and Bayern bound. I cant see us sign anyone tbh. If we do then my bets are on someone heading towards the end of his contract. Ozil maybe?

Don't you all want Fabinho anymore? You keyboard managers are a fickle lot!!

6 months ago, this place was crazy for Fabinho and he was the second coming with many were telling us that he was the solution to our midfield. Now not even a single mention.

I actually logged in to mention Fabinho. I think he would cover both midfield and right back for us. I would love to see him and Sandro in January. I think that would let us give Young a run at right wing where he has looked good in the past with his crossing. Then in the summer get Ozil on a free, Malcom and Sergej Milinković-Savić. We could also bring back Fosu-Mensah to serve as a understudy for Right back.

There's nothing linking us to Fabinho. I'm sure there's alot of people still wanting him here, but there's nothing on the grapewine saying we're interested in him. It's better to wait for a credible link than to get excited without reason.

While the RB position is important, it can wait till the summer. Jose usually sets up a mean defense, we just need an x factor in attack very urgently. Get a RW and an attacking mid or a #10 and I think we will be in a very good position to capitalize on the off chance City slip up.

Need people with big club experience. Andre Gomes and Arda Turan would be sick.

Signing a midfielder will probable prove that this is Fellaini's last season here. We made Scott a first team player and will sign another CM, so one is definitely going to leave. Everything is pointing to Fellaini.

I have a feeling it might be more than 2 players.

Sandro, Malcom, a midfielder and maybe Ozil (if not then we'll try to get Ozil in the summer for free). Although with Luke Shaw's and Ashley Young's form, I think we can hold back on the LB spot for now and re-evaluate again come the summer.
We need a medical doctor or two, preferably with working experience in Spanish league.
