I suppose you are joking, but he does rely hugely on his athleticism imo sooooo I would say its quite a big risk.... unlike the assist maestro Ozil who has a bit of the Roger Federers about him
Sorry, I never watch tennis, what does it mean to have Federer about him?

He's obviously more likely to sign for City. Of course he is. But, no harm in offering both the club and player more than City are offering. We may turn is head. We may not and he'll just end up at City anyway. But there's certainly no harming in having a go.

We if we get him great, if we don't then I didn't want him anyway, he's average, not got enough followers on twitter, too old, head is too big for his body etc.

The difference is that Benteke isnt good enough to demand a high price on his own; so he has to use agents to influence clubs.

Sanchez doesn't need his agent to do any of this. Just tell the club that you'll have to cough up or you'll miss out on my quality.

He does if he wants the move now, rather than in the summer.

City have offered a nominal fee and will wait for summer if its not accepted. If Alexis is keen to join City before July then something needs to happen to force City to pay what Arsenal will accept. Floating a United gazumping is one way to achieve that.

it's been so long since we lost a "race" for a player. I've forgotten what it felt like.

Floats about gracefully and smoothly, and will keep on playing to a high level into his 30s. Unlike Nadal who has run himself into the ground a la Rooney.

It pains me to say it, but why wouldn't you choose City right now? It's guaranteed silverware.

My guess is that City don’t want to sign him in January and are happy to wait until the summer to get him on a free. Sanchez obviously wants an EPL title and a crack at the UCL so they’re linking United to him to force city’s hand.

His agent had got a load of Serie A players which would explain why Di Marzio was the one breaking the news.

Exactly right, throwing uniteds name in the hat to force the issue.

ftfy.

I think the same. It's just his agent trying to force City's hand to pay up what Arsenal want. No better way to do that than claim your hated neighbours and rivals are bidding for him.

This is a win/win situation for United. If we get him, we get a quality player from under the noses of City. If we don’t get him, we push the price up.

Don't get even remotely excited, he will be in City shirt soon once these news popped up, it's because whether City to speed up the process or pay some more. We are used to this.

If any move happens, I doubt it'll be before January 31. So, this will run for twenty more days... grab the popcorn

Could be true what you are saying but imo if City feel that they can lose him they'll dish out whatever is needed anyway, it's not like they're anyhow constrained money wise. That's why I think it's his agent's play just to get City to pay up.
There is a limit to how much they can spend, just like PSG who are trying to flog loads of players and signed Mbappe on a one year loan to comply with FFP. Sanchez's wages he will get at City, as reported by Di Mazrio the other day are crazy £400K+ a week.

No he doesnt, the same money he is demanding now will be higher when he is on a free transfer because of no transfer fee. Sanchez will want that nominal fee handed straight to him along with his wage demands if he goes on a free.

If you wait to get Sanchez on a free he'll cost the same as he is now; but just structured differently.

You don’t want a winger because it’ll hinder the development of an attacking midfielder?
Any minutes Gomes could get, be it on the wing or centrally, is worth a lot. Sanchez is another versatile offensive body in his way.
Shit, i dont sound too convincing

Great news for us, either this is true and we hopefully pip city to him or its fake which leads to city paying through the nose unnecessarily, either way suits us fine.
why would be pay through the nose unnecessarily? we appear to be offering what we're offering and happy with that, really can't see us getting into a bidding war with yourselves and it'll only be for a couple of million more than we were prepared to pay.

An I mentioned earlier, if they are just using our name we will make a statement denying any interest. We won’t want to publically lose out to city.

Unless we make a statement soon we can safely say our bid is real.

Feck me this took off. Anything in it? Last I heard Di Marzio said we'd offered Mkhi.

If true, it'd be great, because adding quality to the squad without blowing your budget is always good... and he isn't cup-tied for the Champions League.

Erm, Gomes is 17 years old and playing for our reserves. You can’t avoid signing a player that is borderline world class because you want to develop a 17 year old kid who has a very small chance of reaching a similar level. That would just be stupid wouldn’t it. If we were to develop Gomes, I’d rather see us sacrificing the minutes we’re giving Mkhitaryan, Mata, Herrera or Fellaini.

The amount of ‘This is just Arsenal and his agent getting city pay more’ brigade is so tiresome.

Why wouldn’t Utd be in for him? He’s a quality player who’d slot in perfectly.

If he decides to join City then so be it but least Utd would have tried.

Definitely he is signing for the side who eager to win the league, and pay more, which is City.
