For those that were asking why he was missing games over xmas.

That was classy from Guardiola.

Silva is decent as well. He was one of those who didn't get involved in the tunnel scrap after the derby and didn't go overboard. Not saying it matters in the light of his personal issue, but just pointing out that he's a likeable guy and a good professional.

Classy would have been not relating his situation and absence with dropping points.
Support him publicly and not talk about how it could affect the team negatively.

Feel for him.

Poor lad. This is a monumental thing in a persons life. Having a lot of responsibility on your shoulders in the public eye doesnt help neither I imagine.
Really hope they get through this. Feck football club rivalries. David Silva deserves some peace to handle this.

Always seemed a classy bloke and consummate professional, my thoughts go out to his family and wish them the best. Let's hope his son is a fighter like him and gets through this. Good on City on letting him have free reign during this busy period, no matter what walk of life family must come first.

Yeah, hes somebody I think I should hate cos he plays for City but he just seems inoffensive (even when doing tactical fouls).
Class player.
Hope all goes well for him on the family front.

Not a fan of the shaven head look on him, maybe cause i'm used to see him with hair, and i don't recognize him on tv :p
Great little player though.

Fair play everyone - some classy posts in this thread since he clarified things earlier today and it is appreciated.

Football really comes a poor second at times like this and while there’s been a fair bit of speculation over the past few weeks I must admit that in light of this news, I feel a bit selfish about wanting him back playing for us in the lead up to last night’s game.

Nonchalantly scoring the winner...
Yeah I read about this today.

As many on here will note - I'm a very anti-city Utd fan, I really can't stand them as a club.

But I really truly hope that David Silva's baby is ok, and I think it's amazing how he's going back and forth and supporting his family while still playing a part in City's games.

He's a class act of a player and his little son has got a great Dad - all my thoughts and best wishes are with him and his family.

Been wondering what happened to him, that's awful to hear, hope the baby pulls through.

I also hope wishing a City player well doesn't go against the 'top United fan' code of conduct, you never know these days with the level of bitterness.

Thats awful. Terrible thing to have to deal with.

They can do amazing things with premature babies these days so hopefully all will be well for them.

Anyone who's a dad on here will appreciate the pain he's going through right now - mean that with no disrespect to anyone who isn't but it's just different when you hold that little kid in your arms for the first time. The bond is just something you can't describe.

Don't care what so ever who he plays for, thoughts are prayers are his lad pulls through and the boy gets to see his dad play in a city shirt one day

Absolutely horrible to go through something like that, hopefully things improve soon and we see the little fella cheering his dad on from the stands. Best wishes to them.

Keep fighting baby Silva!

My aughter was born prematurely, not a lot but had to stay in an incubator for 7 days. I remember babies there who were born more prematurely then her, so little and fragile, hooked up on all those cables. Heart broken.

Thoughts and prayers with the family.

Seems like he's ageing better than Iniesta as he's more consistent.

I've known a few people who were premature babies. The mother next door to me had her 1st prematurely at 23 weeks (which, at the time, was the earliest baby born in the UK I believe) and he's turned into a lovely young boy. Yeah, he has some problems, but he's an awesome person who's excelling at life.

Hopefully the same can be said about Silva.Jr in due time

As a blue, it’s great to see so many positive comments regarding silva and his family. It makes our differences insignificant. Respect

I lost my daughter early into her life, and have been through this scenario before, so know what Silva and his family are going through, Class by City to give him the time off he needs.
Hope Silva jr gets the strength to pull through,

David Silva has won the last 23 games he's featured in, in a row, the longest run of any league player since the league began in 1888.

City’s greatest player in their history. I rate him ahead of De Bruyne, and he’s been top 3 players in the premier league this decade. Absolutely beautiful to watch.
