New deal for Mourinho. Good to see us increase the compensation we’ll inevitably have to pay when we sack him to a level befitting a club of our size.

My dad sat next to him in the directors box when we beat Arsenal last month. He said he was a really nice bloke and knew everything about United. Made my dads day when he grabbed his arm celebrating as the whole directors box was full of Arsenal fans obviously
Jesus!

Let's hope it's the clubs intentions to spend in summer, world cup is a bit of a worry, as players prices rise, hope we get who we want before. A cm and maybe another back. Club going in right direction.

Awesome manager. Hope he stays at United for the rest of his career. The special one is rematerialising in Manchester.

Tbf i thought most teams in the past didn't care so much about parking the bus. You have player like best / ronaldo / giggs tearing against second tier defender of the 90s. Compare them to defender of today's epl team where almost every one of them is a multi capped internationals
That's a fair point, the PL itself has evolved tactically since the days of our attacking style.

@Thepinhead - you're right, in fact, Fergie would at times set up to play counter attack, especially in his later days.

Sends a real message about the confidence we have in our current direction. I imagine there might be one of these announcements every year if all goes well. This is our first post-SAF extension, backs the manager against any potential player-power, and warns off other suitors.

But, wait. Wasn't he getting the sack? Or was he quitting and going to PSG?
Yes he was.
Many fans saw that we drew 3 games and wanted him sacked immediately. And when the question was asked, "who should replace him", these geniuses had no answer.

The first manager in MUFC history to win 2 trophies in his first season.
The first manager since SAF, to give us a solid 2nd place in January. Only MCFC (who have broken several records) are ahead of us.
Qualified top of our CL group.
And as a result, the first manager since SAF to be given a contract extension.

Put simply, he should've been the one who took over from SAF. The decision to hire Moyes instead of Jose, cost us at least 1 league title.

This is extremely important, I think.
It means that the manager is now in charge and is going to be here for a long time.
Players will either adapt and follow Jose's instructions or get sold.

Delighted. We're on the right track, the board agrees, and it's pretty clear that he's been given assurances of the club's ambitions. An exciting summer awaits.

The MUTV interview was fantastic. Loved the shots he took at the press and the pundits, at the difficulty they seem to have to give us credit for anything. Making the point that without us they’d have nothing to write and be out of work.

It feels good to feel like it’s us against the world again, and to have our manager leading the fight.

Yeah, I think a lot of fans were spoiled by Fergie who was a genius and also had been in charge since the 80's so we were a machine and he never lost his hunger and passion. In addition to the nature of the premier league nowadays and all the money it's an instant gratification or bust view for many folks and that gratification is winning the league or champions league or move onto the next guy. Like yourself I have appreciated the stability and the little milestones he's achieved and have total faith he will win everything at the club before he moves on.

Like?

Good that we extended his contract. It‘s a good sign and since there is no other, better manager around, all fine. I hope he improves our attacking play though

Yeah, I love it. It definitely feels like we're starting to make a few of our enemies uncomfortable.

Great news, we are going in the right direction. JM is the best signing completed by Ed, players and managers included, IMO.

I can't remember why I joined this war.
This is a good thing. I never hid the fact that I'm not the biggest fan of his but he is doing some good work. Despite all the arguing over his playing style he is the first manager since SAF who has us somewhat competing for more than fourth place and it looks like the teams is going to get improved under him like it has been under no other manager.

Fantastic news, stability.
After the summers transfer window I believe we will have a completed squad,
I feel we are nearly there.
Now get DDG tied down

I still have my doubts he we will actually be here here in 2020. but this is his squad now, we've backed him to the hilt financially so makes sense we give him the new contract.
