Jesus. What a difference a year or less makes. The three of them are coffins on two legs.

May's double chin is now just a scooter tire wrapped around his face. Hammond looks like some vaudeville actor. And Jeremy looks like his painkillers are starting to take its toll.

Overall, the three of them reminds me of wrinkly Benny Hills wearing schoolboy uniforms.

Funny but a tad creepy at the same time -- acting like over-grown juvenile teenagers but sadly with bodies/faces that are starting to look way out of place in the schoolboy uniform. Creep almost.

The photography, as usual, is the saving grace.

They do serve a Public Service Announce (PSA): Health is wealth lads!
It's like a weird second mid life crisis for them all! - They need to realise they have reached stage 3 of Adult Male Flirting. Stage 1 is when you are fit, young and available from say 16-35 roughly. Stage 2 is when you can continue to be flirtatious but it will become increasingly likely that only women in your same age-group will take you seriously, the younger women will not take you seriously but consider you mostly harmless. This stage is very dynamic and the age range depends on your organisation / where you work etc.

However you know you have reached stage 3 when the reaction is more eugh than phwoar! At that age your flirtation now comes across as creepy to almost all women and you need to focus purely on using it in more private situations and only with older women. It is often the case that famous men don't realise they have reached this stage as they get surrounded by sycophants who give them constant flattery. But rest assured everyone else can clearly see that you have begun the journey towards stage 3 - the dirty old man stage! I'm also looking at you Jonathan Ross!

Why are posters here obsessed with their looks and ages ? Il watch Clarkson and co messing about over some twentysomething bland ken doll posers all day long .

I don't think you know what 'obsessed' means.

Hammonds crash looked a lot worse on the programme than the YouTube vids, looks like he was very lucky.

What the feck was that office lunchtime thing in the third episode? I am pretty sure they were embarrased when the camera showed them in studio after the clip, I am pretty sure that was the most pointless Top gear/Grand tour clip ever.

Also, didn't Hammond had that crash just few months ago, how come he is injured in these early episodes? I thought they are filming this for a year or more, and not just in last 2 or 3 months.

What's that? I don't remember that bit.
That bit with Hammond and James, where they created some track in front of offices or whatever and professional drivers regular office people had races with their racing family cars.

Seems like they read this thread and create next episode/season based on it

Despite the reasonably strong opening episode I didn't have much hope that they'd fix the biggest issues with the show given that all their changes were rolling back the annoying, but at least new, segments to what they'd been doing on Top Gear.

After a few more episodes I think my fears have been realised. It's distinctly ok, and there are no sections that downright grate on me (I skip the celeb interviews because they're dull), but for all the fanfare of their bigger budget and everything they're just slavishly recreating late series top gear with all its faults.

This whole defense of their scripted stuff by showing how unscripted TV doesn't work by showing us a lot of scripted failings of unscripted TV is (scripted) bollocks.

They are going to land in some trouble with PETA for that Jeremy's film at the end!

It's pretty forgettable. That car fire engine segment is probably the worst thing I've ever seen from May. Last season was very average in all fronts, and it's continuing here. I go back and re watch some segments from Top gear some time; but not last season and this season by far. Even their two episode special of last season was shit. Still, I'm hoping this seaon's special with Hammond on the motorcycle, is going to be a half decent one.

Can't believe they let them fool around with fire like that in Croatia. It was a huge problem during summer.

Great unscripted film, tho.

Yeah, pretty unbelieveable considering it's one of Croatia's biggest problem regarding tourism during the summer, it's like they were laughing at their own problem allowing them to do that.

S2 for me so far: entertaining, but nothing spectacular. Part of the magic of the old TG for me was them playing with the boundaries set by working for the BBC and dancing right on the edge of that. That naturally vanished by the move to Amazon, no taboos in sight.

I couldn’t wait for this last episode to finish. Some of the stunts or sidebits in this season have been terrible.
Conversation street sucks
Not having a celebrity board of all the fastest times sucks
Honestly think the bit with the test driver would be better if she had her own section where she spoke.
The specials were the best thing about these guys and honestly this season has been poor so far.

I skip the celebrities section, and don't care at all which car is the fastest on Eboladrome.

Everything else is aces though, love it.

Thought this was the best episode of the season so far. Do agree with others though would rather just see specials than anything else, maybe that's a bit infeasible though.

It was really good.

Nah not just specials for me. But I'd definitely take a much shorter show where they just had the actual car segments and races and no conversation street or celebrity crap.

it's much better than last year although I still think it doesn't hold a candle to the last batch of Top Gear episodes.

"Conversation Street" is pretty rubbish but it's just the equivalent of when they used to "do the news" on the old Top Gear.

The celebrity stuff is the worst, who gives a crap who's faster of two people? If you absolutely insist on having celebrities on (be better if they didn't) then at least have an overall leader board with times for everyone who's been on.

The show as a whole has been very hit and miss, the "let's pretend unscripted TV can't work" thing was the absolute worst, the "old Jags are great honest" bit was stupid but then the supercar bits have been good and the desert special from the first season was good.

Loved the Lancia v Audi film.
That has been the only real highlight of the series so far for me.

I fast forward through the celebrity bits - total waste of time - not interested. If I want to find out about such stuff then Graham Norton has better guests and is a more talented interviewer.

The silly /outlandish/ supercar sections - well they don't float my boat but I can see some might like them.

It is fast becoming something like an inflight magazine, just bland advertorials and staged "events" that are actually more budget than creativity. Looks glossy and slick but rare that it actually holds your attention properly.

The Lancia vs Audi bit was a proper story, illustrated by a good mix of archive footage and real life. They should dump the celebrity stuff and just have a shorter "news" section before having more long format stories like that.

There are countless stories they could cover of rivalries, individual driver stories or quirky car manufacturers but that would require some proper auto journalism rather than just falling back on lazy stereotypes, fake outrage and "great Bantz"

The Jags bit could have followed a similar vein, but no it was just another 3 blokes arguing piece that we have seen a thousand times before.

More actual content would make it a proper show.

Same here. Well, it featured Walter Röhrl, my favourite racing river of all time, my favourite period of my favourite type of racing and a Rally 037, which featured very prominently on the walls of my boyhood bedroom.

Just wathed Ep8. Can only figure the majority of the series budget goes into repairing the test vehicles, and insurance.
