I don't know if this has been mentioned before but Jose Mourinho has the highest win rate for any United manager... Ever.

Is it possible that we can all see that 433 with Pogba on the left works much better than 4231, but Jose doesn't? I don't think so.

This is a guy who; after winning everything with Porto in his first season, including the UEFA cup; felt that his players were losing tactical discipline due to overconfidence, so he changed the formation from 433 to 442 diamond because that formation demands much higher tactical discipline in order to be effective. They went on to win the Champions League in the second season.

This is a key concept of Mourihno's coaching method; he doesn't demand a thing from his players; he rather creates situations that demand certain things from the players. I wouldn't be surprised if his insistence on 4231 is a method to train players to evolve their game. For example, Pogba is great going forward, but right now he is a defensive liability because of lack of defensive awareness, lack of work rate without the ball, and poor decision making with the ball in his own half. Forcing him to play as a holding mid could very well be a training method to improve on those aspects of his game. On the other hand, adjusting the formation to suit his game would benefit the team in the short run, but then Pogba would never evolve.

Then again, I might be wrong.
Yeah, I can see where you’re coming from. With Jose being an arch pragmatist, however, he’d need to be confident the team could still do the job.

Pogba, for example, really should know his midfield role by now. In fact he was doing it better last season and the ‘can’t play in a two’ myth was put to bed for a while.

I think he was bought as Jose sees him a the perfect player in a two. A guy full of energy who can track back, put in tackles, and rough up the opposition. Add to that his fantastic passing ability from deep. Pogba has all the skills needed, he just needs to get it completely into his head.

I don’t see Jose giving up on it just yet.

he just can't get us playing.

what are we good at? pretty average in possession, can't define counters, can't/don't press, slow, comical defending....

what are we good at?

Another great example of his bad decision making. Another great example that our goals depend a 100% on the individuals and 0% on tactical preparation. Another disappointment served by Jose. Starting to walk on my nerves.

Give him another new contract i would say and spend another 200m to serve up shite after shite. The only explanation would be him being a Chelsea agent

As much as some of his decisions today have made me raise an eyebrow, we would be comfortably leading this game nine times out of ten with all these good chances and the limited ones conceded. Just one of those days so far.

Pretty obvious he is poor at via s good attacking unit.
I'm not having our players are not good enough to play better than this.
If Pogba is indeed injured...he will deserve all the stick he can possibly get.

Losing faith. No attack, average defense, one-man midfield (Matic). Not good enough with all the resources we spent so far.

I would agree with you any day of the week if the chances we created were due to tactical decisions. Our goals never seem to come from something planned.

If he can't get us playing effective attacking football with Sanchez now in the squad, then that is entirely on him, and I would start to question his future.

Good group of players, absolutely the wrong manager to get the best out of them and take us forward.

What is being coached in the attacking third? It looks like we put in absolutely no work in that department, and it’s been happening for seasons now. We have players like Sanchez, Martial, Pogba and Mata and somehow still can’t string anything much good together aside from the odd bit of good play. It’s inexcusable.

Sign him up to a longer contract before such spellbinding performances attract the elite clubs of Europe.

He's lost his fire, the thing that made him special.

The team needs a better manager, so hopefully that's his last season.

It’s on him this. Same players, same shot system time and time again.

The fact that we added a player like Sanchez into our front line and it has not improved our attacking play is prove of that statement

Tactically he looks lost. He’s stubborn with his 4-2-3-1 formation even though there’s questions as to whether it suits the players we have.

Also, his substitutions don’t have any impact. It’s extremely frustrating.

There's no cohesive play from us. Stems from the manager. Also no excuse for constantly picking matic and pogba in a midfield 2 and an unbalanced attack so often. He's been here for a while now. We should be playing better. Simple as.

Do people here expect him to score himself?? Our Strikers had ample chances to score at least 4 goals.

Let's see you people jump on Martial for missing 3 clear cut chances.

His decisions and game management has been abysmal on far too many occasions now. He's lost the plot. I don't see us getting anywhere under him.

Players are getting in each others way, launching balls and hitting our own...Collection of individuals and fair to say we look less than sum of its parts.

I worry it'll get worse before it gets better, if we miss out on CL then we'll really seriously struggle to keep hold of players like DDG and Pogba. We have so many issues; big game performances, same weak mentality, no leaders in the team and such a lack of entertainment. I don't know if getting rid of Mourinho is the right decision or not but I wonder how much further he can take us.
