Fox News just had a fella on claiming that the shooter is an ex student....said he was 20/21. He was cut off pretty quickly after that and Shep gave out the disclaimers.
Typical Fox distracting from the real issue

they're not that insane, even the majority of gun owners want stricter gun laws

it's the political culture and blatant corruption that is responsible for this
I know all Americans aren’t insane, but mass shooting after mass shooting and yet the most they can come up with is slightly strickter gun control which won’t happen as long as Trump is in office anyway. I mean, they took to the streets to protest Trump and for the me too campaign - where is the public outcry to do something about the countless shootings?

Why is it always schools?
As someone said, it is not just schools. But media focuses the school shootings more as it fetches them more views.

Anyways, nothing will change. It is not like a majority of citizens are going to put in any sustained pressure on politicians to get rid of guns.

Until their attitude to guns changes (which I doubt it ever will) then this kind of thing will happen again & again.

At the end of the day, people will vote for a candidate based on single issues such as tax cuts or abortion views or, unfortunately, gun control. At the moment, there really are not enough people who view implementing gun control as a make-or-break issue, certainly not compared to the number of people who vote based on preventing gun control. The GOP have done a sickeningly good job of making enough people believe that gun control laws will be the beginning of the end of America. This is the price all too many are willing to pay. They feel like it won't happen to them or someone they love and even if it did, they'd be ready. It's disgusting.

The situation there is just ridiculous for a supposedly civilised country...an average of 3 school shootings a day and they still think the answer is more guns.

Don't the school shootings tend to have more deaths as well though?

Gun control does not work...

Everyone is using the wrong language and has been for a long time in this debate. The only thing that has been proven to work (the UK and Australia being two recent examples) is GUN CONFISCATION. No guns...that's what works...when we say gun control I think that's what we mean. Whereas Americans see gun control as something completely different. No amount of gun control will work as long as there Is readily available access to guns. Take guns away from the majority of citizens. Only then will people stop dying. Australia did it...I don't see American ever being able to get there.

it works for canada and multiple eu countries which have high concentrations of guns

you can also buy guns and in the uk and australia if you have the right licences and follow the legislation

Completely agree mate. Their theory is that the only way to protect your home is with a gun, or the only way to react to an attack is with your gun. It’s fecking ludicrous. No one in this world needs a gun, unless you’re in the army or Tony Soprano.

Only way to get stricter gun laws, despite it's satirical tone.

Gun prevalence in those countries is nothing like what it is in the USA.

Is American 10/10 have a gun. In Canada 3/10 do. I said the majority.

You need to get to state where most people don't have guns as a minimum.

Surely that would just lead to a civil war. How many guns/gun owners are there in the US?

Plus there's the whole constitutional thing.

There's a gun for every man woman and child in America (at least) 3 times more than the closest western country.

It would cause a civil war...

the point is that limiting ownership works without having to take every single gun, simple things like background checks and limiting the kind of firearm available for sale are enough (obviously, you have to take back the guns that are designed for killing lots of people very quickly, and handguns which serve no non-murdery purpose)

gun ownership in america is lower than 50%, it just so happens a minority of those gun owners have enough to arm a small militia

Is it the second amendment that these scum swear by? Sick of these shootings in schools,,it's heartbreaking. Americans still want more guns and see nothing wrong in having 2-3 guns per household.

I don't know what is right or wrong about guns..but this sort of things should not be happening in modern world!

Exactly, so confiscation in your examples is still necessary. Americans just aren't going to accept that. As a country you need to collectively look into your soul and see most people don't need guns...and give them up.

Only when the vast majority of people in America don't have guns will we see a difference.

Would want to visit US in the next few years but boy knowing that some average joe, with IQ lower than that of the table, standing next to you is armed to bits is a frightening thought.

Never quite understood why people are so quick to their phones when their life is in danger. Surely it would be the last thing on your mind?

Not judging as I've never been in such a situation, but seems odd.

We can't stop here. This is bat country.
It’s such a hopeless situation.

If Obama’s regime couldn’t effect any serious gun control change then what hope a lunatic like Trump.

Can’t see the situation changing for a generation at least.

Paradoxically, it may actually take further laxing of the gun laws (and who wouldn’t bet on that) to make them realise it’s all gone too far and call the thing in.
