I’m a big fan of fletcher actually, I just stupidly forgot about him! Though I was also a fan of butt. OooerDarren Fletcher should be starting in that line up (instead of Butt).
The man made it into the PFA team of the year (09/10) ahead of the likes of Scholes, Gerrard, Fabregas etc - Butt never reached those levels.
Fletcher is far too forgotten by our fanbase - a terrific player who, if not for a life altering chronic illness, would have had the better career overall than Carrick
Even if you disagree with Fletcher > Carrick, which is fair enough, you surely have to admit that Fletcher should be in this squad
Both under-rated.I’m a big fan of fletcher actually, I just stupidly forgot about him! Though I was also a fan of butt. Oooer
Tom Heaton? For one reason or another we have never been prolific with producing keepers.
Gaskell, Rimmer, Walsh, Bosnich is about it.
Certainly we never saw the best of him but on his day Bosnich was an excellent keeper.
Yeah but I’m a bit weird like thatI would pick Butt over Fletcher but Sheasy over Duxbury and definitely Evans over Graeme Hogg.
Ooh I knoowwww and much love to ya for itYeah but I’m a bit weird like that
Tom Heaton?
Not sure what you think generally about players who barely played for us but have gone on to do well elsewhere. You have Pique in there though.
I came up withWest Ham, a very narrow 3-5-2
Stephen Bywater
Rio Ferdinand
Bobby Moore
Alvin Martin
Paul Ince
Michael Carrick
Trevor Brooking
Joe Cole
Frank Lampard
Geoff Hurst
Jermain Defoe
On second thoughtsI came up with
Mervyn Day
Glen Johnsen
Bobby Moore
Rio Ferdinand/John Terry
john lyall
Lampard jnr
Brooking
Martin Peters
Rednap snr
Hurst
Defoe
Both pretty strong though
Sivell
Mills Beattie Butcher Burley
Talbot Gates Wark McCall
Brazil Bent
Tried to squeeze Osman in to a back 3 but it just seemed wrong, amazing thing about that team is how many played together, add a couple of dutchmen and you could nearly win a title....Some good subs in: Atkinson, Dyer, Osman, Scowcroft, Wright...
A team with Bale, Le Tissier and Shearer would be monstrous.Southampton
1. Middleton
2. Benali
3. Shaw
4. Page
5. Whitlock
6. Williams
7. Paine
8. Channon
9. Shearer
10. Le Tissier
11. Bale
Subs: Wallace, Baker, Sillett, Walcott, Chivers, Moran, Bridge, Holmes, Lallana
An amazing about of attacking forwards...only one keeper who made more than 10 apps and virtually no central defenders.
Ok with fullbacks and forwards...weak everywhere else.
I remember that team from early 80'es with Mühren, Thijsen, and Mariner too. A great team!Tried to squeeze Osman in to a back 3 but it just seemed wrong, amazing thing about that team is how many played together, add a couple of dutchmen and you could nearly win a title....
Going forward would be very strong...but then if that defence had to face Best, Charlton, Viollet, Scholes, Edwards, Giggs...they would lose 12-5 or something like that!A team with Bale, Le Tissier and Shearer would be monstrous.
They'd destroy most of the league week in, week out.
Inter homegrown:

Why is he questionable?Christian Eriksen Midfielder Questionable
Although Eriksen hadn't played for Odense Boldklub's first team Ajax paid a transfer fee of £1m for him, so technically he's not home-grownWhy is he questionable?
Ah I see. I was just confused because some others on the list were older when they joined us and spent less time in our youth teams but that's fair enough.Although Eriksen hadn't played for Odense Boldklub's first team Ajax paid a transfer fee of £1m for him, so technically he's not home-grown
This..and he started in the -17's.Although Eriksen hadn't played for Odense Boldklub's first team Ajax paid a transfer fee of £1m for him, so technically he's not home-grown
It's sad that they haven't had their house in order this decade with some horrible managerial appointments, otherwise they could've been much more competitive domestically. Even amongst those players you feel that players like Howedes, who has won a World Cup, Draxler, currently at one of the biggest clubs in Europe, and Meyer have not fulfilled their potential. They have looked more stable this season but, especially with a young manager, they can have another inconsistent season and see their current crop not develop as well (Meyer, Kehrer).Quite some talent they had in this generation alone.
I thought the same. It's not like he was established 'player of the year' material, he went as a hopeful talent. Luckily (also for our national team, I hope) it turned out really well so far.I was critical of Sane when he left for City, thinking he left far too early
yep,I could have put Giuseppe Baresi instead of Bellugi but whatever.Great defence...
An Atlético fan?I tried making one for Atlético:
David de Gea
Juan Carlos Aguilera - Jesús Martínez Jayo - Roberto Solozábal - Lucas Hernández
Koke - Gabi - Saúl Ñíguez
Paco Campos - Joaquin Peiró - Fernando Torres
What would be the best starting 11 of academy players currently playing? That’s an interesting one.
Ours would probably look like this...
Heaton
Simpson Pique Evans Brady
Fletcher Drinkwater Pogba
Lingard
Rashford King
I’m probably missing some obvious ones. You could throw Shawcross, James and Fosu Mensah in there aswell.
Welbeck and Januzaj would probably get in there. I’d easily have Pique and Evans over Keane though.Micheal Keane, Danny Welbeck, Fraizier Campbell, Adnan Januzaj, Guiseppe Rossi, Luke Steele, James Chester...
He did. Tottenham paid a then British transfer record fee to sign him in 1967.Pretty sure Martin Chivers started at Southampton...
No Roger Hunt? World Cup winner and their top goalscorer for a long time.Liverpool
1. Lawrence
2. Byrne
3. Lawler
4. Thompson
5. Carragher
6. Lee
7. Callaghan
8. Gerrard
9. Fowler
10. Owen
11. McManaman
Subs: Smith, Moran, Melia, Fairclough, Evans
Being maybe slightly lenient with the rules (the same way Fosu-Mensah would be fore United), Ajax current home grown by current ability would be about:What would be the best starting 11 of academy players currently playing? That’s an interesting one.

Hunt was 20 When he joined Liverpool so not a youth player. No Roger Hunt? World Cup winner and their top goalscorer for a long time.
were you naming players who've only played for one club in their career?Casillas
G Neville
Maldini
Puyol
Lizaraxu
Scholes
Xavi
Gerrard
Messi
Puskas
Charlton
Thanks for clarifying. You are indeed a great source of information!Hunt was 20 When he joined Liverpool so not a youth player.
Considering Gerrard, Xavi, Charlton, Puskás, Lizarazu and Casillas have played for more than one club I guess notwere you naming players who've only played for one club in their career?
