I had to just go back and check the OP to see if this was the sarcastic thread or the real thread.

But to put it simple, give him very little service, and he scrapes towards 30 goals in a season.

Imagine if we gave him good service. 40 goals a season?

Lukaku, whilst having some flaws, certainly has enough to help us win a league title.

Embarrassing thread. This dude wanted Lukaku benched after 10 minutes. Clear agenda.

One good half and suddenly he's class again according to some. He has one good game and then 5 poor games. Play every week and you are bound to have a decent game eventually.

Great goal and assist today. Doesn't make me forget how woeful he has been for months.
Yeah I mean before today he hasn't had a good game since...oh wait, last weekend, when he got us through in the FA Cup by basically creating AND scoring both of our goals.

...before that you have to go all the back to...oh wait, the game immediately before that, when he was our best player by a mile against Newcastle and should have had three or four assists.

...and before that you have to go all the way back to...oh right, the game before that, when he scored for us against Huddersfield again when we were struggling to break them down.

...Before that...Burnley, which was only a week or so before that, where he beat two defenders on his own to set up our winning goal.

He scored in the game before that against Stoke

...he scored in the FA Cup game before that despite only coming on late in the game.

Before that you have to go back a whole 2 appearances from him to find another goal and good performance against West Brom.

The game before that he won us the game against Bournemouth

Then you have to go back a whole 1 game to find him scoring against CSKA

The game before that he was excellent against Arsenal

A week before that he won us the game against Brighton.

We're all the way back into the middle of November now, and it just carries on like this until you get right back to the start of the season. The closest you get to a run of him being rubbish is when he didn't do anything useful for three weeks around the end of October...except we only played two games in this period against Benfica and Chelsea

The existence of this thread is one of the stupidist things this forum has ever coughed up. It's insultingly idiotic. We are at a point where the only way to criticise Lukaku's coontribution to the team is to just plain lie about it.

Baffling post.

Either

A) You don't actually watch United games over 90 minutes

Or

B) You don't have a clue about centre forward play or perhaps football in general.

Not sure which is it but either way your post is a car crash.

I said this in the match day thread but Lukaku was runaway man of the match. His all round play was superb.

And to think he is only 24 and yet to reach his prime. Great player who (imo) will only improve.

He is not our weak link.

He is beginning to get into his strides again, and great form. Perhaps, better than his earlier in the season form. I am not saying he is THE big game player, but certainly growing into that role for United especially when others cower or hide under pressure.

He's actually been good recently, even when he's not had the goal(s) to cap the performances for the simple minded folk. He's the least of our problems.

This guy is just getting started.

I'm really encouraged. Despite the goal tally at the start of the season, I think he looks far better in the past 4 matches than when he signed. Seems to be progressing.

We saw another side to Lukaku today and something that’s been emerging the last few weeks. You can’t question his effort and commitment today.

Other than the goal, he was quite poor first half today (as was most of the team). But second half he led from the front. Sure, his first touch and ball control / hold up play still aren’t the best and there is massive room for improvement since we lose the ball quite often when he gets it during the build up play. But he showed great confidence and leadership with some of his decision making today. The way he tried to run through 3 Chelsea players epitomises his second half display. I also liked the way he applauded the move that led to his spectacular volley attempt. It made me believe that something was coming after that. He was not only up for it second half but he had some moments of brilliance and the confidence transferred to the team.

So a leadership display and definitely MOTM. Well done Lukaku.

Good post.

A side note to the bolded text. It's as clear as night and day that Lukaku feeds off confidence. He would have never attempted that turn, knock and sprint had he not scored and assisted. He had the confidence flowing and the adrenaline pumping and believed he could do more, so he did it.

I really hope breaking this silly hoodoo scoring against the big 6 this season & Chelsea ever, can push him on to have a strong end to the season.

Lukaku is good enough but United will need to get another striker of similar quality in the future, someone who is a bit different. Similarly to how City have both Aguero and Jesus or how Madrid had both Benzema and Morata last season.

I doubt it will happen this summer though, there are far more pressing issues in the squad and players like Alexis, Rashford or Martial can play upfront too.

Think I saw a stat after yesterday's game showing Lukaku's goals were worth 9 or 10 points this season. Kane leads with 14 points or something similar. But can't seem to find anything regarding this now. Did anyone else catch this stat?

Yeah. Not sure if they showed only strikers but he was in top 3-5.

Thank you. I thought I was imagining it up in my drunken state. It was Kane, followed by Salah, Aguero and then Lukaku I think. Was pleased to see that Lingod was after Lukaku

Anyways, hope this is the confidence boost Lukaku needed scoring against a top 6 side. Him finishing the season strongly will be great.

He is having very good season and even better since start of the year.

He has started 8 games and 2 times came off the bench, scored 7 goals and 3 assists.

That's a very good record.

Yeah great confidence booster and also monkey off the back with all the tailored stats to shit on the player.

We won 3 games against top 6 and he played well in all 3 games.

I've said it a few times - Mourinho's faith in Lukaku will cost him his job.

I'm not sure there's a striker in world football who becomes less useful once he hits poor form. It's baffling how he can't do anything right. Hold-up, passing, staying onside, running with the ball etc. A fecking donkey.

Constantly at the STD clinic.
This forum goes from "Lukaku the world class beast ready to be unleashed if he gets more service" to "Lazy pub player".

Truth is he is a very good striker but NOT the level to spearhead a team such as Manchester United. I put him in the category of Shaqiri, Arnoutovic, Defoe (when younger) or Robbie Keane.

We would make an excellent rotational/sub Striker. Just isn't a Kane, Van Nisterlooy, Rooney, Berbatov, Tevez or Drogba.

Really needs a rest. Patience with him is too much. To say he's out of form is saying it lightly.

Expect a big editorial on how hard working he is and how he came up from nowhere and how he learns everyday from henry and drogba and how he is a true student of football and keeps trying to improve himself by watching his performances.

Tired of hopeless strikers at United.

Post rvp, all our buys have flopped.

We have two genuine pacey players martial and rashford who can really come good. But Jose is too stubborn.

Even if they aren't playing that well, they both will offer more than lukaku in every game.

Hope we sell him at the end of the season.

I really want to avoid our games because of his poor touch and technique. His useless step overs are getting on my nerves too. Heskey comparisons don't look out of place right now.

The only time he looked in sync with his body was when he was chasing a ball over the top. Simply does not have the quality to be a striker for a top club, it can not only be about goals. Lukaku is exactly what many of us thought he was, good player at a lower level.

Should have spent the last 2 years developing Martial and Rashford in that role.

I've stuck up for him a lot because he seemed to be putting in effort at the very least even with his finishing being pretty sub-par. But he's not even seemingly trying much anymore. He suddenly looks out of his depth. I thought he was improving but I'm not so sure anymore.

Do you think hes too big and it slows him up just a bit, but enough to be caught?
