Already been relying on NZ for their wine for some time. Didn’t think it’d ever come to beer...
Very good Craft beer scene in NZ. Arguable that their beer is better than their wine. Can't make a decent large-volume lager though.

Im-Peach-Ment is a low note as it's fruity and sour. But it tickled me when they started stocking it a year ago.

Donald Trump's White House press conference descended into laughter when he told the president of a local steel union, Scott Sarge, 'Your father Herman is looking down, he’s very proud of you.' Sarge pointed out that his father was still alive, at which point Trump said in that case he must be even more proud. The president then offered to arm wrestle another industry figure as he stepped up to the podium.

A can costs around 10c to make... even if you assumed the whole cost of that was raw materials you are looking at a 1c rise
Yeah, a 10% increase on packaging costs is a fortune. Then you’ve got kegs and vats to take into account.

If it’s anything like here the price of materials can go up by a small margin but they put the price of the product up by a massive one.

if it was a 10% increase in all the packing costs then yeah but its not its 10% in material which compared to the cost of a packing plant is minimal
You don't think there will be a whole chain of production that will be effected by this (Aluminium and Steel)? From the machinery used by the farms that grow the hops, transport vehicles and equipment at every stage of production and logistics and equipment in the brewery.

I can promise you with absolute certainty that the 10% price increase on the can it's sold in is not the only place prices will increase and we're only talking about breweries here. Now consider other manufacturers of other products which use more aluminium and steel and think of their production line and the other products that rely on their products.

There is only one winner from this ridiculous policy and it's American manufacturers of Aluminium and Steel. Every consumer of the materials whether a producer or consumer will be stung by this... although...

...consumers might be spared in the fact they will still be able to buy foreign products made on foreign lands which were not hit by 10/25% charges on their materials at cheaper rates than US products.

...US manufacturers can spare themselves the 10/25% charges if they relocate their factories outside of the US and instead import the finished products.

So it could potentially drive production out of the US and take thousands of jobs with it, all for the benefit of Steel/Aluminium manufacturers who will then have little market left to sell to in the US and be forced to sell at reduced rates outside of the US.

Trump is a genius.

Trump is a genius.
If he goes get his infra plans in motion then actually there will be a massive usa market - plus we are actually looking at setting up there if he gets plans approved as we fully expect preference to be given to usa steel / produced goods... our main issue is actually getting the profiles at the required quality we need over there - similar problem in the UK - the simple facts are that some of the more modern plants (central and eastern europe and china especially) can churn out far more of the materials we need quicker - might have been more effective to have given a tax break on people investing in the facilities in the USA in the long run.

The guy Trump wanted to arm wrestle just looked annoyed and shrugged him off saying "I'm good buddy". Gotta give it to Trump, he never stops delivering awkward moments.

MSNBC was even worse last night. They were talking about Trump/Russia during the North Korean announcement.

 Its funny but kid of sad and plays right into Trumps fake biased news theory. It is like they have forgotten about anything in the world aside from Trump. I am kind of getting bored of CNN now. Lets have a little more variety in the news.

A complete humiliation for Tillerson to be completely left out of the biggest diplomatic events

Kim Jung is playing Trump like a fiddle here.
I think the pressure on North Korea is finally taking its toll. Years of sanctions are really biting. The number of supplies heading south from China have dried up dramatically. I think Kim Jung is under intense pressure at home and this is his best move. Playing Trump would be a very risky move. If Kim messes it up and totally alienates Trump the options of N. Korea will be somewhere between grim and bleak.

N.Korea got their get out of jail free card now anyway, they have nuclear capabilities. They are fully aware that no one would dare invade them due to the risk of them nuking S.Korea, so Kim Jung probably is more open to talks than he was pre-nuke.

He's (Kim) obviously going to try and get one over on Trump. He's looked at the current pres. and figured there'll never be a better time to try.

North Korea haven't tested a nuclear warhead on a missile or even produced one small enough to be placed on a missile. Even it they got one airborne it still has to get past air defense system and hit its target. They are a few years of being a true nuclear threat according to most defense analysts. Anyway, no one is using nukes. North Korea would be wiped off the map s few minutes after launching a nuclear strike on Seoul.
