in his post match he talks about slow, predictable football

they why Jose? why after nearly 2 years is the quality of our football absolute shit for at least 45 mins in the majority of games we play in?

why is the intensity only in our game for about 30 mins a game?

simply not good enough and if he can't improve this he needs to go - Don't give a damn about our position
He's becoming almost like a pundit. Talking about a team he has zero influence over.

Constantly at the STD clinic.
People can throw all the statistics they want about how good we've been but the fact is this level is not acceptable from him. I am not saying we should sack him but at least we should agree we need better performances from the team than this. This season I really expected a title race but fine maybe I will give the benefit of doubt due to how City have been but the performances against lesser opposition has been horrible.

My original stance has not changed, the football is simply not good enough. I am not a Mourinho hater that thinks he is shit, but I am also not his fanboy that thinks he is anywhere close to being the best. There is no consistency in terms of our tactics, our team or our play. No one knows what our best 11 is, and no one knows what exactly our style of football is either. The fact that after nearly two seasons we still play like a bunch of strangers put together is just poor.

Jose has improved us in terms of points, but it also feels like this is the best that it will be under him, even if we get him new players. Its not like City are going to be idle in the transfer market, the same for other clubs as well. If we are to win the league next season, we need to expect big drop in performance from City, and a big improvement from us at the same time which looking at the football being played seems unlikely. If the fans could at least be entertained, then there would probably be more reason to be optimistic. I am not sure he fits well with the ethos of the club, the football is dull and boring and he is unlikely to change on that matter and play the football that fans want to see. He also seems to have reverted to his old habit with regards to young players. Rashford and Martial hardly play anymore, even after good performances, but the likes of Lukaku and Sanchez can be stink up the place as much as they want and their place is pretty much guaranteed.

We should be aiming for the league and CL, but that should not come at the cost of attacking football, you can have both. I know that it is impossible for any team to play great football all the time and in every game, but that should be our aim. The fans should not be going into the game expecting boring football. He has complained about the atmosphere at OT previously, but maybe he should cop on that the shit football is certainly a part of that problem.

The fact that any time he came under pressure or got some deserved criticism, he threw everyone and everything under the bus, including the very club that employs him. It is disrespectful and seems like he cares more about his own ego and reputation more than that of the club's and that is unacceptable.

This is why I want us to appoint a DOF, who actually knows about football and can make important decisions on that matter.
Well summed up. Excellent post mate.

Who was Pep before Barca took him? Who was zidane before Madrid? Who was Mourinho before he won the CL at Porto? Wrong attitude to have. Keeping a manager who doesnt suit you is wasting time. You dont need some proven world class manager. You need someone who has the right ideology and vision for the team, and one capable of being a top manager.
From an idealistic position i agree, but again who wpuld you get in? An Eddie Howe? People also saying Conte adter what Chelsea are serving up - that's no better, same couod be said for Ancelotti.

I always thought and said having pep in EPL especially with city might bring the worst out of Jose.

Jose does not really handle well being 2nd best for long. I really do hope next season will be different for the sake of United.

Equally, I am very worried about next season with Jose being in charge of us. Not about not winning the title or whatever. More about how much drama and shit shows from him we have to deal with.

I'd give him one more window. But today was Moyes levels of atrociousness. Football without a soul.

I really do fear for what some of you are wishing for. We needed to steady the ship and gradually get back to where we needed to be after the Moyes and Van Gaal years.
Are United fans really hoping for a new manager, that will probably take another 2/3 years of getting the team to play his way? A team finding its feet again and struggling to even make the top 4?
Before we know it, we could easily go through another 3 or 4 managers and win nothing. We need stability right now. We need the players to know that they have to put a shift in or they are out on their ear, not the manager.

Keep a clean shit tomorrow, United is my final bus
For those asking who can replace Mourinho...

Aleggri, Jardim, Ancelotti, Conte, Sarri

There are loads of alternative to Mourinho.
Wouldn't touch Ancelotti or Conte with a bargepole. They're not the guys to lift this team.

Sarri looks interesting at Napoli but what has he done over a sustained period to prove he's top level? Could he even implement the same system here? I doubt it with the current crop.

Not sure about Allegri. Doesn't play the right football.

Jardim is easily the most interesting option for me.

The flip side is do we want another season, two, more of this type of football? I'm not saying we have to change now but saying we shouldn't just in case isn't a good enough reason for keeping Jose. (I'm still unsure though games like today nudge me towards a "go").

Also, the idea of binning players is a nice one but in these times of player power, not going to happen.

Mourinho set us up to deliberately play a slow laboured game to conserve energy ahead of the midweek game. He arrogantly believed that we could best West Brom by just turning up.

The players looked unmotivated and lethargic.

It is another embarrassing result that should be the wake up call that they need, but it won’t be.
Believing we could beat the 20th place team doesn't sound too much like arrogance. Believing the players wouldn't be unmotivated and lethargic also isn't arrogance.

It's a wakeup call. Remove about 6 of those players from the next game and see how the game goes without them.

My thoughts exactly. If our board target Ancellotti, I give up on the club for good. It would reek of short-term thinking and stop-gap tactics with zero improvement in our entertainment levels or league standing.

Of those options, Jardim is probably the guy I'd find most interesting.

Based off last weeks half time team talk, Michael Carrick and Ashley Young are favourites for the United job.

Jose was never and still isn’t a long term Man United manager. I don’t see the point in getting rid at the end of the season but I definitely see it going pear shaped next year.

I can see him being here for many years. He's older, has done everything he'd want to have done elsewhere, and is probably ready to settle down and reconstruct Man Utd into his own image. Maybe 10-15 years here, then manage the Portuguese NT for a few years?
Of course he needs to get a few better players in, so the team won't be quite so annoying to watch.

If Sarri could do it at Napoli with barely any funding, he can do it here too.

I just doubt he'd leave Napoli and I think he'd be silly to leave.

I am worried for next season.

I don't think our summer window matters too much(besides full-backs and a central midfielder).

I think this is our maximum under Jose, but I'd love to be proven wrong.

I think he said he sees doing possibly seven years which is pretty long term. But it’s not the first time he has said that he wants to build something and it’s gone wrong, I just think it’s in his make up.
He does need better players next year which he will get a hefty transfer budget but I think the style won’t improve that much.

I believe our summer is massively important because it will stop a rot from setting in.

We have new problems, and these are good problems. Instead of trying to ship off players like Schneiderlin, Rooney, Depay, we are trying to improve the average level of the squad and get the best out of top players like Pogba and Sanchez.

I believe investing in the midfield and defense is important for the future of the club. Mourinho is one of the best in the business in the transfer market.

How dare he speak about consistency when he himself doesn't even consistently put out the same XI.

Have to say, this is shit and slowly I am starting to lose faith in him. Our problems are pretty evident so why doesnt he sort them out?

Some of us have been asking ourselves that question for a long time. That's why faith has been lost.

For all those criticizing Jose, watch post match comments from this game (I've just changed my tune after doing so). He knows what the issues are with the team and at this rate, Pogba should start fearing for his place in the team because I think we are going to see a more ruthless Jose

All his history talks of how great he once was is starting to irritate. The reason he was accepted as a special one was because of his winning mentality and his never say die attitude but this season instead of fixing the flaws he has been lecturing of his past glories.

Credits to Mourinho for stabilizing United's defensive organisation throughout the season, which helped United to grind out results. However, it's clearly time now to find a balance between offense and defense. He has great players at his disposal with Lukaku, Sanchez, Pogba, Rashford, Lingard and Martial. Lots of pace and power there, just unleash it and goals will follow. I am sure of that.

We do feck all coaching for attacking moves. This i'm sure off. Why do they always pass ball to a standing player, always!
Why don't they play in space? Why are they unable to pass and move? Why can't they anticipate their teammates moves? Why their technical accuracy depends on the opposition and the scoreline? Why do we play without intensity?

Has he made our defense stable though? Our set piece defending is notoriously bad for a Mourinho team.

De Gea has bailed them out a lot. And I know a GK is part of the defense too, but I believe we give up the most chances/shots from the top 6. Don't think that's a stabled defense.

Why would somebody want Conte  The point is to get an attack minded manager. Sarri, Nagelsmann, Jardim, Tuchel (now going to PSG), etc... Bayern are getting Niko Kovac. Madrid got Zidane and are favourites for their 3rd CL in a row. Barca took a chance on Pep after liking his ideologies and his work with the youth team and he has turned into a manager who changed football.

If people keep obsessing about a manager needing to be completely "proven" or whatever, we aren't going to get that person. One manager might fail completely at a shit club and be a huge success at a big club. It's not all the same.

That 'special one' Jose is long gone.

I've accepted it a while back. Just need to hope he can continue this season's 'stabilization' and not capitulate next season.

I don't think you've watched Juventus. Allegri is maybe the most tactically flexible coach in the world. His teams can play possession football and counter attacking football in equal measure. Juventus have been consistently fighting with the likes of Madrid/Barcelona on a much lesser budget for a while now and you don't get to 2 CL finals in 3 seasons by playing defensive football. They're defensively astute but the quality of their transitions and fluidity in attack is up there with the best in Europe. Just last night they completely outplayed Madrid in the Bernabeu. Without the genius of Messi and Ronaldo Allegri would probably have won the CL by now. He has probably the best balance between defence and attack than any coach.

exactly this. i don't want to compare us to City but City players pass the ball to a player running at full speed. Most passes we made were addressed to a standing player. Go figure why we failed to test Foster.
