Arsenal fans, if you had to choose between Wenger staying or Arteta becoming manager which would you choose?
Hopp (Hoffenheim's "owner") and Nagelsmann have been saying that for months. Such breaking news.Tweet

If I was an Arsenal fan, I'd choose Arteta.Arsenal fans, if you had to choose between Wenger staying or Arteta becoming manager which would you choose?
Has demanding money ever helped? It just leads to unnecessary tension between the board and the manager. If funds are there, they'll be made available to the manager, throwing a tantrum about the money available never comes to any good. And anyway we aren't City, so if its a chequebook manager he'll never want to come here in the first place.Gazidis forgot to add the most important ticky-boxy...
Won't demand money and will be happy to be there.
Welcome, Arsenal, to the hell we almost sank fully into! Your 'Giveitgiggsehtilendo'tseason' moment has arrived........
To be fair most pundits said that about Guardiola's appointment at Barcelona.Charisma, player power, respect - so incredibly important when you choose a manager for a big club. Moyes had none of it, so it doesn't matter how good you are as a manager. No balls, no success. Arteta is going to be a horrible manager for Arsenal, they surely cannot be so stupid?
The empty stadium cost Wenger his job that's for sure. Only MONEY can make the board take action.Arsenal would have kept Wenger if it werent for the fans staying away from the Stadion and Sponsor Pressuring Kroenke
At least you lot can get another season of ArseFamTV fun - I never watch it myselfFcuk it, it’s not my club. I’ll enjoy the watching the huge risk unfold if it is Arteta.
Suppose it’s a bit like Villanova isn’t it (side guy to Pep)? Only he was already at Barca before taking the big job.
I'm really convinced Gazidis got that Gold Fever where he is now fantasizing about Arteta turning out to be the next Guardiola and Ivan gets praised as genius for "discovering" him. It even goes against Wenger's recommendation of Vieira who is more experienced than Arteta so he can appear wiser than old Arsene.Charisma, player power, respect - so incredibly important when you choose a manager for a big club. Arteta, because Wenger never deserved the #WengerOut messages. So i'm happy that he hasn't to listen to that anymore and we will see how good it will work with him.Arsenal fans, if you had to choose between Wenger staying or Arteta becoming manager which would you choose?
Arteta as much as I hate to admit it. Wenger's position had grown completely untenable. The club desperately needs a new direction. Even if Arteta fails its still probably better long term than letting Wenger continue. Wenger was always loyal to relatively incompetent backroom staff. Our medical (Lewin gone), scouts (Grimandi should be sacked but at least he is ignored) GK coaches (Chesny and Fabianski both critized how poor our GK coaches were) and basically Wenger's whole crew of coaches that had grown complacent and fallen behind the times. Just getting rid of the stale backroom staff that Wenger was protecting for years makes it worth it.Arsenal fans, if you had to choose between Wenger staying or Arteta becoming manager which would you choose?
Though this will be with a squad that needs a lot of work with limited resourcesFcuk it, it’s not my club. I’ll enjoy the watching the huge risk unfold if it is Arteta.

He's worked under Pep last two years, he was also an aggressive defensive midfielder, he will know how to set up his team to press, he also played for Arsenal 5 years while wearing the band at times, knows the club and is a leader I think he could actually surprise many and take Arsenal to back 4 immediately, while playing some nice football. It is my honest prediction and I think he would do well also for one other reason, he would be in a good position because they can't finish worse than 6th, he could focus on building a nice attacking while competitive team. If Arsenal lacks something it is aggression and he could bring that to Emirates imo.If I was an arsenal fan I’d be equally scared and excited to see how it works out
Arteta, Rangers legend
Remember when Van Persie was in distraught when told Fergie gonna retired at the end of the season. The only reason he join United because of Fergie and he only got that 1 year.Reported in Evening Standard that 'Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang says he joined the club in the belief Wenger would stay on as manager "for years' Oh dear, not going to end well. I hardly think Arteta gives of the effect as Wenger.
The Greek Defender they signed in January looks good so far. It’s a risk, but not that massive a one. They can always get rid of him. And it’s not like he can destroy a winning mentality like Moyes, since there isn’t one to begin with
The greater risk lies with the ex-Dortmund chap they’ve put in charge of recruitment. It doesn’t say a lot for the breadth of his knowledge when both of his big signings so far have been from his old club. Now THAT does have more than a hint of Moyes...
Ah. Didn’t know about him.The Greek Defender they signed in January looks good so far.
Vieira can be said more of a figure at Arsenal than Arteta ever will be. They surely can finish worse than 6th next year whoever they sign as manager. Its important year for them to steady the club after this turnmoil. Maybe they dont feel one but look at the big picture, even with Wenger they cant compete with a failing Conte this season, how could they hope to finish in top 6 when they appoint Arteta as manager? Its not La Liga when late Tito Vilanova win the league at canter, at worse, he would end up 2nd behind Madrid that season. Or as flush. Though Jardim and Sarri are team builders and can cope with low budgets, Arteta is a cheapskate's dream. Even has the "worked with Guardiola so could be a mini-genius" on his CV.Arteta as much as I hate to admit it. Wenger's position had grown completely untenable. I thought they would be going for a Jardim or Sarri though but no links to those two even mentioned which makes me think Gazidis is not as wise as he should be.
The thing is, i genuinely believe thats the case. Same with cut from the same cloth ala Moyes.Or as flush. Though Jardim and Sarri are team builders and can cope with low budgets, Arteta is a cheapskate's dream. Even has the "worked with Guardiola so could be a mini-genius" on his CV.
Have no doubts that Jardim etc were likely deliberately ignored.
It is all speculation at this point, I have no idea what his managerial style would be but I could bet on the brand of football he would like to play. I don't think that going in a way of steady manager like Ancelotti is the only way. Arteta would be a risk but definitely would bring new energy to the team. As I said I think he may surprise many wherever he decides to go and Arsenal would be a good fit even though maybe a bit way too early but certainly can see why that speculation started..Vieira can be said more of a figure at Arsenal than Arteta ever will be. This is PL we talking about, we have Pep, Jose, Klopp, Poch, Conte(if still here next season or whoever they sign), Arsenal will be in rude awakening next season. Its like they think all is well when in fact, all of the sign show them its gonna be bad.
It does look that way unfortunately for us. Gazidis showing more hubris than I thought.Or as flush. Though Jardim and Sarri are team builders and can cope with low budgets, Arteta is a cheapskate's dream. Even has the "worked with Guardiola so could be a mini-genius" on his CV.

Is he that much better though ?If they're going down that route than Vieira is the much better option. At least he has managerial experience and being a club legend the fans will accept straight away. Arteta has no experience and has no real affiliation with Arsenal. Just because he played there for a few years doesn't make him a worthy candidate.
Gazidis went to the same school as me. So yes, he’ll be an arrogant cnutIt does look that way unfortunately for us. Gazidis showing more hubris than I thought.
