Takeaways:

(1) Jones messed up with three misjudgements - firstly in letting Hazard the wrong side, second making a tackle where he didn't need to, and thirdly in making the tackle and then missing the ball. They were all individually quite easy mistakes to make, in fairness, against a world class player but it would have been nice if he's got one of the three right. It doesn't make him an awful player though.

(2) Playing endless square balls is not unpicking the opposition, it's just a waste of time.

(3) Rashford is not a centre forward yet. A loan period would be a good idea.

(4) Young and Valencia aren't good enough and need to be replaced.

(5) We need an attacking coach because the players don't have a big clue what to do as a unit in the final third.

(6) It was a sh#t game because of both teams, not just us.
Now you realise what we miss now that Carrick has retired

I think today was the day that our mistakes over the past few years finally blew up in our faces on the grand stage.

Our starting back 4: Young, Jones, Smalling, Valencia. Young and Valencia looked clearly finished. Neither could beat a man inside (or really attempted to), neither of them tried to first-time a cross in. Jones single-handedly cost us the game with his poor read of Hazard and a ludicrous tackle. Smalling, who has his own weaknesses, was the only one who came out of that with any kind of credibility. All of these players should have been cleared out ages ago.

We paid £5 for Sanchez, yeah? As in five quid? The man is dogshit.

Pogba missed the header but I think he and Matic were our best players today. Herrera was OK going forward but had trouble keeping up with Hazard on counters. I'm not sure if he was injured or if he's lost a step in the past couple of seasons.

Rashford also wasted a couple of chances but played more as a winger than a striker. We really had no 9 playing today. Looked so impotent for long stretches of the game.

We had chances to score but the chances came after we were trailing. We created absolutely nothing in the 1st half and quite honestly, looked like zombies. I was shocked by the lack of intensity we brought to the start of the game.

We need signings for the backline (will we ever see TFM and Tuanzebe again?) but I don't see how signing more big money-attacking players are going to solve anything with our lack of goals.

Susegaad!
Gave it a go in the second half, but lets be honest a win today wouldve just helped mask how shite we've been this season.

Spot on,,We will get over this loss after about a week but the underlying problems that we have will still remain and will be interesting to see what Jose does to rectify them!!

That's the problem with him! The lack of consistency. One minute we're shit, next 'we gave our all.'

I doubt the players know form one match to the next what he's going to say

No, there's a player there, a very talented one. He's been badly managed this season and the shit he got after Brighton was undeserved and has affected his confidence. It's piss poor management from Jose
Mate your looking for excuss for him open your eyes' he is not and never will be a top centre forward

Overall, the team really didn't deserve to lose and had the better chances but the attacking play really is poor. The movement in the final third is just awful.

There was one really dangerous break in the second half. Pogba was driving forward with 3 players in support on either side. All 3 ran directly in front of him giving him no options to pass and dragging defenders in who ended up blocking his shot.

That sort of thing happens far too often.
Spot on. Sometimes our movement off the ball is poor. Funny thing is, this has a been a problem for years, all the way back to latter SAF. This isn’t something new, seems like it’s modern players sometimes .

Dunno why people are enraged. Sanchez is Rooney from Chille and similar bullshit. People moan while in same time their idea of solutions for our problems is just buy buy. I mean check transfer threads for feck sake.

Matic-Pogba- Savic /drool, Sanchez /drool, X player , this  that and then what? They look decent 1st month, posters come out with posts how much quality they bring bla bla, while new comers slowly sinking in pile of shit from previous season, rinse and repeat.

Rashford a 20 year old kid getting ripped to pieces, feck what ever lead to his fall from grace. What was his reward for scoring twice vs Liverpool? What was reward to good form Martial before Sanchez came? What was reward for Shaw when he was in decent run of form?

Why today`s back four? Are they best we have or they were there because "been there done that"?

Look at our attack today,

Rashford, who clearly is talented but nowhere ready to start a FA cup final.

Fergie was brilliant in motivating regular players into world class players, Jose buys world class players and turns them into regular players.
"Now you know why I never play these 2 trash players." - Mou
*Lukaku is injured
"Wait, you didn't really believe I called you two trash did I? Please perform in the finals for me." - Mou

I hope people that backed Jose commenting on Rashford and Martial now realize how dumb it was to make those comments. Mou essentially called them trash and then once Lukaku was not fit enough to start, Mou is then asking both Rashford and Martial to be beaming with confidence. Just awful man management.

If you say so. I reckon Liverpool are going to get twatted, and I’m watching :D
The last time the unholy trinity occurred.

FA CUP- we lost on penalties to Arsenal
PL- Chelsea
UCL- Liverpool after being 3-0 down to Milan

So I'm not confident at all

He was great last year but today he was running on fumes, he is completely done for, great bench backup for another year but hardly much more as things stand for me at least.

Our defense needs so much work, none of them should be starters next season except maybe Smalling.

None of full backs can cross a ball and compound that we have zero wingers.

If Jose doesnt get this transfer window correct then he has to go because the deficiencies in this team are glaringly obvious.

He’s crap. Always has been. A crap one footed winger to an even more crap right back. I’ll never back down on this.

Can't believe it took us 60 mins to turn the performance up in a cup final. Big worries inside this team.

It’s got nothing to do with Jose calling them trash. They are trash & Jose was right for calling them trash. If they were performing at optimum level, we wouldn’t have needed to sign Sanchez.

They were still regulars in the team when we lost to City in December & then went on to draw 3 games against mid-table/relegating teams. Rashford/Martial have been inconsistent from the start of the season.

Honestly I am so disappointed. I almost wanted to cry in the last 5 minutes. The FA Cup was the only thing that could salvage our disappointing season. I know we finished second and that's a huge progress from the past seasons but finishing 19 points behind the Champion is nothing to be proud of, however you look at it, not to mention how we were embarassingly knocked out by Sevilla and our style of play. We never looked like scoring at all and I was hoping our key players like Pogba and Sanchez would rise up to the occasion. I was so confident we would win with Mourinho's record in cup finals and Conte's poor record and thinking the players would all do it for Sir Alex. This feels awful and I feel shattered now. I'd take last season all day over this season. :(

Thanks for posting that. The Valencia out there today is the same one who's been blunting our attack on the right for ages now but has gotten away with being able to run and his high workrate. He is fading and has maybe another 2 or 3 years left in him for a midtable team.

Mate, I saw Kane at the same age on loan, he wasn't at all impressive.

Good man management is a skill SAF had in shed loads. Turning Andy Cole from an 'ok' player into one of the most feared forwards in Europe is a case in point.

Open your eyes, Jose is not a coach for young players

well we did come back in the spurs game, but in general your right!
Coming back is one thing, mentality is another. We looked up for it in the Spurs game. This game we looked lacking, but I think that is as much just lacking the talent to unlock teams who sit back.

There is truth to the presence piece. If a team sits back you either need presence, quick movement or skill. Sadly we lacked all of those.
