Shit, sorry man. I was replying to the diver who died. Realise the timing might be a bit "late".
I cannot imagine how that teacher is feeling. Obviously he’s taking the blame for it but it’s naive ignorance on his part. As things stand, he’s living an absolute nightmare and is likely to spend his final moments coming to terms with the horrendous responsibility. Just tragic.
I'm guessing they are gonna try the dive? Probably accompany each kid with 2 or 3 divers.
I may have read incorrectly but it seemed the Teacher went in to rescue the kids at first, ending getting trapped along them.

Didn't know bird's nests collectors was a thing. Let alone that they could be usefull in a life or death situation.
The greatest minds and bodies on their niche fields are gathered to try and save those people from a freakingly unique situation. It's a thriller movie in real time. It's like Apollo 13 when those NASA dudes started making puzzles, against the clock, with replicas of the equipment on board.

Im very much hoping this ends well and they make a nice film out of it in the future.
I don't see how they can get the kids out there without them panicking the second something goes wrong, its a huge ask for anyone, let alone kids. Could easily end up killing the divers too.
Has just started. Chiang Rai Governer speaking, opening comments: "The boys entered through the front of the cave, they will come out through the front.”
Looks like the rescue will be attempted shortly.
This is going to be a movie and hopefully it has a happy ending. What a brave group of people they are helping these kids.
It sounds like they're still testing the evacuation plan - the kit, the route, any handovers, the stops - but they're planning to bring them out through the existing access route.
Governor says they haven't yet decided on the exact plan to follow. Says that when they do it will need to be tested before it's carried out. Says the kids have already been taught to dive but that they are trying to take the most minimal risk - hence the delay. Also says rescuers are very worried by the weather forecasts and the air situation in the cave.
Seems like rain will be the precursor to putting plans into effect. Governor says "if it rains, we will try to bring the boys out." Also looks like supplying them and keeping them there for the rest of monsoon season is no longer being considered as an option. Apparently the governor laughed when the suggestion was put to him.

Yes, the guy on the conference laughed it off when asked if they could wait for the monsoon season to end (i.e about 4 months).
I think some will die on the way out, and even then I'd be surprised if they get many out.
Yeah that's certainly an awful option. What's the chance of these kids getting PTSD if they succeed with diving?
Cant they get a Bigelow expandable module down there along with some oxygen scrubbers and make an inflatable submarine base station

I sure fecking hope they can walk, they're not toddlers. And if they mean that they are fit to walk, then if that's becoming debatable how the feck are they expected to do a 6-7hr long diving session towards freedom.

It's a reference to the line "can walk but not run". It just means they arent ready
Is frightening that they only have the option to take them out because it will rain tomorrow. Or is what I understood?

If I would be inside the cave and aware of the situation, I would ask for a gun and shoot my head (yes, I am a coward). Dying underwater is one of the kind of deaths that scare me the most

Really praying for those kids. Not to anyone in particular just been on my mind often. Hope they make it out well and sound.
Wasnt James Cameron's Sanctum movie about this type of thing? Remembering that fecking movie now makes me hope none of those kids need to dive

Main challenges of extraction:

- 11 hour round trip, 6 hours there, 5 hours back. Probably a lot slower with each child.
- 1 mile section nearest to the boys mostly flooded, but with occasional air pockets.
- Longest section without air pockets approximately 400m, but very slow going.
- Many obstacles including dead end passages. Zero visibility. Some gaps as narrow as 2 x 2.5' (60 x 75cm) for up to 15m in length.
- Flooding is fed by multiple water sources = unpredictable, competing currents. These currents will worsen if and when it rains.
- Three of the group (including the coach) reported by the local governor as getting weaker.
