I think Salah, Naby Keita, Shaqiri, Fabinho, Mane, etc were cheaper than 50m. IMO Liverpool have spend Coutinho's money wisely to balance their team.

I hope they don't sign Allison because he is the best GK in the Italian league.
£55m rising to 60+ for Keita

£45m for Fabinho

He's not one of the best in Europe
There is absolutely no way you have watched any Serie A matches last season. What is your statement worth in that case?

The question is not IF Allison has been the world's best keeper in 17/18 but whether or not he can reproduce it.

What's the point being engaged in evaluations of players you haven't watched beyond 2 CL and 2 WC games?

So it looks like he might be on his way to England with Liverpool having made a bid.

What's the Caf's thoughts on him? Any Serie A fans here seen much of him between the sticks? How much of an upgrade is he on Karius/Mignolet?
He's a huge upgrade as both of those are sh1te and he isn't.

That’s way too much money for a keeper that’s not called Oblak. No wonder Madrid walked away from that.

But he conceded the most goals in European competition. Sounds legit.
Maybe go look at those goals. And the whole games. Not his fault Roma faced Chelsea, Atletico Madrid, Barcelona and Liverpool and the defence kept breaking down in front of him.

£62m for a keeper?

I thought the hypocrite said he’d do things differently even if he had the money to spend?
To be fair, he is doing it differently.

The transfer market has always undervalued goalkeepers. He's going to exploit this and is clearly looking to make the world realise that they're just as valuable as outfield players - if not more so.

To that end, he's now looking to almost double the world record fee for a goalkeeper.

He's a genius.
Of course I'm fecking kidding

Ermm guys, he looks dodgy as feck :nervous: I don't watch the Seria A, so I've only ever properly seen him in the CL (where he didn't exactly cover himself in glory). But looking at that video makes me hope Liverpool sign him for a world record fee  For what are supposedly his 'best' saves that was underwhelming to say the least! He seems to spill the difficult shots in front of him rather than push them to the side. For some reason there was never a striker there waiting, but I guarantee that in the PL there will be.

Also, from what I understand people rate him for his skill on the ball (which is a weird thing to rate a goalie for, but I digress), but when rushed by a forward he only seems to have that one little flick that he does every single time. If you ask me he was damn lucky to make it through an entire season without being made to look stupid, but surely strikers will have watched videos of him now and have him figured out?

Good luck to him with Lovren and co then
Liverpool's defence did fine in CL(except one game) and whole second half of the season really. He'd be fine. Won't even have to put up the kind of monster performances he did for Roma all season long

Tell me more about these monster performances?

I asked someone earlier but they disappeared. Can only assume they didn't really know much but were just hyping him up. His stats are pretty average from what I can see? Thanks.

Atletico Madrid first leg, Napoli, Shakhtar Donetsk, Inter...

His stats actually are pretty amazing iirc. Right up there with de gea's this season in the league.

I agree, he does seem to only collect the really weak efforts and the parrying doesn't look like anything special. If they do get Alisson, let's hope they pay through their nose and that we will see many Karius style bloopers during the season.

They are one keeper and a couple of defenders to comfortably surpass us for the title challenge. You’d hope we’d be more ruthless too, also would help if we had a progressive manager which play football with a half bad team

If Allison is worth 62 millions, DDG must be worth 150 millions, isn’t he ?

Why dont they bid for Kasper ? Or Pope ? Or even Heaton ? Cheaper, proven playing in EPL with weak defence with good saves statistic.

However, dont care too much, as long as their CBs are shite, even signing Gordon Banks will not help.

Yeah another person going on about him without posting anything with any substance to justify it..

With a new GK alone, their team already can surpass us for a title challenge. Lovren and VvD are adequate even if they don't sign any more defenders.

They are now the 2nd best team in the league as it stands. Over to Jose and Woodward now.

If you mean me you didn't bother responding to my post. Check the stats though. Like I said do the research.

Honestly prior to the CL final if you asked me I'd say there really wasn't that much of a difference between Karius and Allison. I can't argue with his reputation and stats though.
I think he'll translate well but again it's a goalkeeper playing for Liverpool, it's a difficult position because of the way we play.

I'm hopeful he'll turn out to be shite. He's got that dodgy 90s Brazilian keeper vibe about him.

Allison was no where near the level De Gea produced last season

He gets crazy amounts of praise by goalkeeper trainers, I think he was called the Messi of goalkeepers by the Roma trainer, and Brazil Taffarel (trainer) said he is a phenom. But I have never seen him do anything special for the NT (I don't really watch Roma).

Maybe he's really good at positioning and never has to do anything spectacular? Jury's still out for me despite all the praise.

If he is better than Ederson, he's worth top dollar. Could take them to the next level.

So you are saying Alisson was best GK in the world without any question ?

I am feeling a bit giddy here. Not expecting a world class keeper, but that is mostly because of past experience. I am daring to hope though.

in 17/18 yes, no doubt

Liverpool are making an absolutely amazing deal, I'm surprised by their sudden rush of competence
No he wasn't. De Gea had better season.

Liverpool are getting very good player though, no doubt about it.

Well apparently he is the best keeper in the premier league and in the top bracket on his own

Overrating has started already.

Looks a good keeper. I was hoping they would buy Schmeichel so hope it doesn't happen.

It's amazing, I doubt even Roma fans think he's that good, but numpties here already know he's the best in the world
