He should be sacked? Come on. The drama in here is intense at times.
not over this one incident obviously despite how nasty it would be if proved true

it would be a decision based over the last 18 months of awful management, both man management and team management

as I said I will wait and see what the truth is

I don’t have kids and really don’t care about the kids of let’s say my co-workers (other than them being healthy of course) - but I also know you never, ever mention something negative about their kids, sickness, them being away and so forth. So why the hell did Mourinho even speak about it? Martial is going to slightly hate him forever now, it just goes without saying. Poor form Mourinho, should have worded yourself differently.

Or he could've just said "Martial with his family I don't know when he will return but United respect his privacy & wish Anthony the best" etc..

FFS he created a story out of nothing himself instead of going for the most obvious rational answer. And Mourinho apologists think Media alsway misquote him to make everything look bad.
I don't disagree. I just don't know if Jose knew about the situation unless he thinks Martial is taking extended date than what he asked for.

Yeah, in the conference last night when asked about Martial, Mourinho looked at the press officer and she said to keep questions related to the game.
This explains a hell of a lot. I thought it was very strange to ask the press officer.

This lad needs to be sold and we move on. I don't believe for one second that complications with the mother of his child, stopped him from returning to the US.

Bin him, his heart is not in the club. Sanchez's arrival tipped his toys out the pram.

I hate cheeky, overpaid, spoiled kids.
Speaking of childish outbursts. You give him the benefit of the doubt and move on. Same thing your tutor or boss does when you call in sick. Jose doesn't make those comments if he knew there were complications and neither should anyone

How is saying he didn't know when Martial would come back passive aggressive, and how is that in anyway a sackable offence?

The manager or club don't have to break the lads privacy because you want a clearer answer.

Wish people would grow up with this apologist bollocks. You wouldn't use that language in real life would you because you'd be embarrassed to do so as an adult
I don't know what world do you live in but as head manager of a 3 billions dollars club " I don't know" is the wrong answer literally every time.
Any rational person would say the most obvious PR stuff here instead of creating needless drama that no one would benefit from it.

Have you looked at this thread in the past week? No one had a clue yet just calling out Martial for being unprofessional and whose fault was it?
I want Martial to be sold too because it'd be the best for both parties but he had his rights ( 2 weeks of parental leave ) and wouldn't have had to say sorry if his manager had handled it better.

The amount of dramatic imaginary scenarios that people on here are able to make up in their heads based on literally 0 evidence is absolutely astonishing at times. It's like listening to a bunch of girls spreading rumours about each other

You do know players have social media accounts right? If he had indeed asked for a long leave and club had granted it but now are going back on their words, he could post it and clarify that's not the case. Surely Jose wouldn't be so stupid to tell that he's AWOL knowing this.
Exactly. You can’t just make up negative stuff about players and expect them to not tell anyone it’s bullshit.

Have you actually read the last few pages of this thread?

Jose didn’t accuse Martial of anything.

Well he passed it over to our PR person and they didn't disclose either so you're quite obviously mistaken

So when Mourinho said Martial should have been with team, he presumably didn't know there were complications with Martial's girlfriend?

When his last kid was a baby didn’t he spend the time having an affair with some X factor chick or something?

Top parent
He's just said 'sorry but family comes first'. You've got to believe him.

I didn't say that it was

"Anthony Martial has the baby and after the baby is born - beautiful baby, full of health, thank God - he should be here and he is not here.”

Jose Mourinho waiting for Anthony Martial's return...

More: https://t.co/HFLebEg88D https://t.co/7Tr6bXdhh9

this was passive aggressive and what I was referring to.

This was the quote that prompted every troll going to attack Martial for not being professional. Read some of the comments about Martial as a result of this quote and put yourself in his shoes. Martial with a sick girlfriend and those quotes abusing him.

As I said l would wait and see what the truth is. if it turned out Mourinho knew she was quite ill and in distress or whatever and still had a pop I'd sack him. Not for this one incident but for 18 months of poor management

C'mon dude, why does he have to lie?
Well the fanbase has turned on him over the last 24 hrs.
It all feels so strange, now the Jose haters are let off the leash.
Its all stupidly toxic

Nope I skipped what followed on page 35 and later. Fair play, seems like he had a reason to not be there.

At first I thought he was just being a WUM.

But this place has been toxic over the summer, so it’s not all that surprising anymore how people can come to such conclusions based on absolutely nothing but what they read on here from other fans and the media.

What happened? Some journo asked Jose when Martial is back and he said he doesn't know.
That's it?

Honestly, Jose should have handled it better during the press conference. Just watching, you got the impression he was annoyed/frustrated at Martial. We know now that was probably not the case but he could have diffused the situation by choosing his words better. We're talking about someone with years of media facing experience.

You've got to have a very warped agenda to instantly believe that Martial's admission that his partner was ill through childbirth is a lie.

You should be taking a break from football, to be honest.

the reason Martial has been away, according to Martial, was because after giving birth hid girlfriend has had complications, hence his absence

He refers to the Mourinho comments by saying Family comes first (IMO)

What an atrocious post this is.
All Im saying is I hope this isn't some PR move to smooth over public relations.
So its revealed (assumed?) hes gone AWOL and he just happens to now be due back in Manchester the very next day?
Its not sitting right with me, thats all.
Thanks for the critique though.

I'd hope so

this should have been clearly communicated by Martial and I'd expect it to have been

Comments could have been from before any serious complications were known. Would hope so anyway.

Am I understanding this correctly? Theres been complications with both baby and mother and Mourinho still made that passive agressive comment? If this is true then he should be ashamed of himself, family always comes first in any fecking sport or whatever the hell it is and he should have been in contact with Martial to make sure everything was ok. Thats the difference between SAF and this guy when it comes to man management. When Ronaldos father was on his deathbed the first thing Sir Alex did was offer him his full support and tell him he could take as much time off as he wants, and this was in a crucial period of the season. Yet here we have a manager telling media martial should be here when his baby and the mother of his child was having birth complications, that really makes me sick.

Didn't Martial didn't inform Jose about the situation? The whole thing is weird.

This place has certainly gone downhill, when one cannot express his opinions without being called an arsehole.
