Raiola feeding the press garbage again I see. We all knew what we were getting into with Riola when we signed Pogba. Most on here thought he was a god for forcing the move to United, now he's doing the same to us, he's the devil.

The only thing I'm surprised about is that it's happening only 2 years into his contract, I thought they'd have waited until next summer.
Doubt it, just an easy story to write for the tabloids following the bid. Think you're overestimating how much they source their stories.

Not the story, but the thing (Smalling is better on the ball) is totally false. He is nowhere near better than any defender we currently have in our squad on the ball, even JM made fun of that.
I think he meant Maguire is better on the ball. It's the main difference between them really.

My mate was playing golf with Jack Butland last night, he's on his way to London for talks with Chelsea this morning. Not the most exciting or surprising of rumours but its direct and 100% true.

Raiola is helpless, Pogba has 4 more years in his contract and the club can wait another year before they open talks with him again, this is no Dormond club where he can throw chairs on board members, this is Manchester united, the biggest club in the world.

The proof will be in the pudding. It's not like I'm claiming to be an ITK on a transfer that anybody gives a feck about.

Ok, my bad then. but Maguire is not just better on the ball, he is a monster in the air both defensively and in attack, he is strong and younger.

I believe you, why would you lie about a transfer regarding a player not coming or leaving Manchester united?

I figured they'd go for a homegrown keeper. Makes sense with their issues in that department.

Pickford would make more sense but he'd cost an absolute fortune compared to Butland.

Really?

I'd say in todays market 50/60m is a fair price for willian, providing he produces his best.
His best is 8 goals in the premier league 2 years ago, not good enough for a 60m 30 years old attacking winger.

I believe you too. Even if he ends up not signing for them, because at the end of the day many transfers fall through despite looking imminent.

There are a lot of problems with how Jose's used Pogba, but it is also a fact that Pogba is a lazy fecker at times. In some games, he played like he was a spectator. He really shouldn't try to take the higher ground here, they both need to do better for the club.

Im no fan of JM. But he is 100% right about Pogba, Pogba himself admitted that he focus more on football with the national team. On his facebook he was asked why he did not paint his hair in the world cup and Pogba answered because he wanted to focus on football, double standard from him. How is it ok for him to focus on football with his national team, but not to do so with his club that gives him millions every year. Pathetic.

and Heaton, strange move as he'll be on decent wages too..
It has been reported that Hart has taken a big wage cut. Also, it may allow them to sell Heaton once Pope is back.
I was going to say, they could sell Pope for big money, but if Chelsea get a big name to replace Courtois, there won't be any big teams in need of a keeper next year.

Sorry if I wasn't clear, what I meant was Maguire is better on the ball as compared to Smalling but in all other regards they are comparable

Yeah Maguire is very good in the air and being very good in the air is also Smalling's main strength.
In all competitions last year, Maguire had 3 goals whereas Smalling had 4 goals. Maguire may be better in the opposition box, but I don't think our problem is not having enough giants. Untill we have someone who can deliver accurate crosses and take good corners, we can fill our team with giants, but we are not going to score a single goal. Hopefully Periera can help us in that regard.

Also Maguire is 3 years younger than Smalling. For me that's not a big difference,at least not big enough for us to be spending a World Record sum on Maguire. Also we don't know how Maguire will develop or if he has reached his ceiling.

To be fair players at a World Cup specifically are in such a bubble of football; constant training and being around your teammates most of the day. Club football is a very different beast with lots of time not at the training ground and lots of distractions away from football. I can see how players would be more focused in that intensely football-centric environment in certain situations.

Pogba has a plenty of time left on his contract.I don't think we will be sweating at all.

Maguire has developed very much since last year after leaving Hull. Both his premier league and world cup performance was great. For me I would prefer to buy a RW and LB before we think of any other area.

Three days left, anyone get the feeling that we won’t sign anybody before the close?
I think we'll sign a CB - hopefully Toby, if not then Maguire (please not Boateng)

I also wouldn't rule out a random right wing player, almost for the sake of signing someone

I haven't seen enough of him to judge if he has improved but right now, I would rather we wait than spending all that money on him
Totally agree with you on the last point, but let Jose get what he wants, maybe if the CB we buy is able to shore up our shaky defense, then Jose will be a bit more attacking or at least that's what I'm hoping

Albert Roge: Pogba is NOT coming to Barca
If there had been any legs in this nonsense, we would have been spoon fed garbage by the tubby agent, for weeks. This would have been the biggest news of this transfer window, across Europe and not some last minute £50m plus some dregs, offer that forced the club to sell. I would suspect £150million plus a transfer request, would have made us stand up and take this whole thing seriously.

I was pretty sure, now I am very sure, that this is about a new contract, off the back of a good World Cup.

Transfer news is on the quiet side at the moment and the journos will jump at any scrap.

That’s 100% not what he said. Some sports journos would be proud of the way you’ve twisted that.

He said it was so that others could only criticise his football not the way he looked. That they could only focus on his performances.

People believing that getting a haircut every 2 weeks impacts on his football are mental.

Then why dont he do the same when he is playing for us. It is obvious he is less focused on football when he is with us, nothing wrong with that.
