Don't think we have any chance against Juventus, home or away. The games against Valencia will decide whether we advance or not.

Well, let's hope they award the final to the Bernabeu in 2020/2021 or 2021/2022 then! ;)

This season's final is in Madrid but not at the Bernabeau. Next season's has already been awared to one of the Istanbul stadia.
Ah, the final is at Athletico's stadium. Jumped the gun there

Ronaldo will score against us in both legs, only this time I suspect he'll celebrate.

I love our group, wanted something like this from the beginning.

Porto always seem to be in the boring group.

My expectations is that we won't pass. Hopefully I'm proven wrong but expect Juve and Valencia to pass through.
It depends. If we play like we are playing now we're fecked. If we raise our game and pick up some form it's possible we can sneak through.

City will, and Liverpool should, top their groups; Spurs maybe as well as I'm not sure about the current Barca but Spurs will progress at any rate.

Europa League for us it seems, although we can't go messing around with Young Boys.
Such an annoying post, all other English Clubs top their Groups and we get eliminated, maybe go support them instead.

Can we beat Valencia :nervous:
After we can't....

They’re a team with a great deal of experience at the highest level, playing every week against Real Madrid, Sevilla, Atletico, Barcelona, the best players.

Do you think they didn’t have any players who could play direct in my team?

I cannot name them. If I name them their agents will jump with happiness and they will say: ‘Tag, tag, price’, this and that. In Valencia, there are many players who would play in my team.

That is not the end of the world. I sit in this chair twice in the Champions League and I knock Man United out at home at Old Trafford.

I sit in this chair with Porto, Man United out, I sit in this chair with Real Madrid, Man United out. So is not something new for the club and of course being Manchester United manager and losing a Champions League tie at home is a disappointment, obviously.

Not sure why people are shitting themselves over that group.

Juve aren’t all that and fully expect to beat Valencia home and away
Valencia are better than the Sevilla team which toyed with us only 6 months ago. Juve are probably main favourites to win the entire competition.

Just looking at the overall draw, 20 years ago before money destroyed competition across Europe, this would have been an incredible draw with some classic ties incoming. Unfortunately some of the names are much tastier than the actual teams.

A lot of our fan base is like this right now. In love with all our rivals but completely despising United.

I”m really looking forward to the games against Juve and Valencia...This is why you qualify for the CL,to test yourself against these kinds of teams.Hopefully we can find a modicum of good form before these matches come around...

Okay guys, let's move on from the Spurs game to something more exciting: The CL group stage draw.
As mentionned in the title, it's gonna be this Thursday at 5PM.

We are in POT 2, like last year. Remember that following last year's rule change, POT 1 contains only the champions of their league.

Here's the 4 Pots (Taken from Marca):

Pot 1 this year contains only big names. i think that we'll definitly end up with one of the biggest clubs in europe.

Personally, i would love to have this group:

Barcelona
United
Lyon
Inter Milan

So, what's your prefered group ?

PS: Please, please and please, keep the Jose talks outside this thread.

Full draw:

Group A
Atlético Madrid (ESP)
Borussia Dortmund (GER)
AS Monaco (FRA)
Club Brugge KV (BEL)

Group B
FC Barcelona (ESP)
Tottenham Hotspur (ENG)
PSV Eindhoven (NED)
Internazionale (ITA)

Group C
Paris Saint-Germain (FRA)
SSC Napoli (ITA)
Liverpool (ENG)
Red Star Belgrade (SRB)

Group D
Lokomotiv Moscow (RUS)
FC Porto (POR)
Schalke 04 (GER)
Galatasaray (TUR)

Group E
Bayern München (GER)
SL Benfica (POR)
AFC Ajax Amsterdam (NED)
AEK Athens (GRE)

Group F
Manchester City (ENG)
Shakhtar Donetsk (UKR)
Olympique Lyonnais (FRA)
TSG 1899 Hoffenheim (GER)

Group G
Real Madrid (ESP)
AS Roma (ITA)
PFC CSKA Moscow (RUS)
Viktoria Plzen (CZE)

Group H
Juventus (ITA)
Manchester United (ENG)
Valencia (ESP)
BSC Young Boys (SUI)
My predictions on qualifications, in no particular order..

Atletico & Dortmund
Barca & Spurs
PSG & Liverpool
Porto & Schalke
Bayern & Ajax
City & Lyon
Madrid & Roma
Juve & MOURINHOS RED ARMY.

If you can't beat a team like Valencia, you don't deserve to be in the knockout rounds anyway. Who wants to back into a knockout round by lucking into a group D situation? It's only delaying the inevitable if you aren't any good and you can humiliate yourself if you don't make it through.
Valencia is a perfectly decent team, and also a good measure of where the team is. I hope we can beat them and take a few points off of Juventus as well.

Inter is not a team ready to play and compete at these level yet… while obviously Barca and Spurs are. We'll see how Spalletti will prepare these games (even PSV is a tough opponent)

Doubt we'll beat them away. Last year they had the second best form at home.

They are kind of crap away from home so if we draw them away and beat them at home we should be through.

I felt the same looking at the groups. At first glance names like Red Star, Roma, Inter, Benfica, Ajax etc. look very tasty, but then you realize they are not real quality sides anymore.

The groups are still decent. There are some glamour ties. I, for one, am glad that that we got Juve and Valencia. A group like City is no good for our team which is not going to make a mark in the knock-out stages.

Our group is tough. 5 tough matches in which we will have to perform. It's going to be interesting to see but I think we'll be heading to Europa League, considering the way we're playing.

About as tough as it could get. That said, I'm so looking forward to the PSG and Napoli clashes
