Such an annoying post, all other English Clubs top their Groups and we get eliminated, maybe go support them instead.
I'd be more than delighted to be wrong (as I often am) but I'm not seeing it TBH.

There's no doubt that City will top their group - nothing to debate there.

Liverpool I think top their group because they are unbeatable at Anfield right now, and have in the past excelled against clubs that attack them like PSG will probably do, but they've struggled against sides that play to contain them - not seeing much of that in the group. So I think they top the group which is more difficult on paper than it will be for them in reality.

Spurs is the biggest shout, but then I did qualify it by highlighting my doubts over the current Barca. Spurs are arguably the more settled side of the two right now, and have a good chance of topping that group, though obviously I accept that Barca should take it with Spurs in second.

With us... I mostly just wanted to get that "messing around with Young Boys" line in :nono:

Must beat Young Boys in both games and beat Valencia at home to have any chance of getting through. We should be capable of hurting Juventus with the quality we have but our form is horrendous currently and they will have too much for us if we don't improve.

Can see PSG shocking and spanking Liverpool at Anfield....Liverpool really need to beat Napoli here and Klopp doesn't have the best of records against Italian teams.

Most of these groups are tough so I'm not gonna complain we didn't get easiest group ever.

Club needs a wake up call and here is it. I' rather see United try to play real football than some dogshit performance like 2 matches vs Sevilla last season.

City going to be able to play their second XI in several of their games. Might have a consequence on the PL too, considering Liverpool and Spurs have to go all out from the start.

Anyone know when the fixtures will be confirmed? I'm planning on going to a match but have to see where matches are being held.

Is this the first time in years the groupstage actually looks interesting? Some cracking groups on paper.

If Mourinho plays conservatively like he always does against juventus I think we will be okay but not great, but surely if he is pressured into playing more free flowing open game we will be in trouble due to our centre backs and full backs who allow crosses to come in and loose headers in the box.

The Tottenham game and numerous other games just proved open football is not what our defense can handle because our defense cant absorb reactiveness.

Looks the type of group you found in the old second group stage, should be interesting.

Imagining Ronaldo jumping on a header in the box against Lindelof, Bailly or Jones is painful now so imagine when it'll actually happen.

No matter how hard they try, United just can’t get rid of Valencia and Young.

I mean, it’s definitely possible. I’m not sure it’s probable. We have been rather good at Anfield lately. We also recently spanked Napoli 5-0.

Hang on, you'd "expect" us to beat Juventus!? Based on what, fella?!
Blind hope pal :wenger:

No, seriously, I think our team is being incredibly underrated on this forum post Brighton. We’re a lot better than we showed in the past 2 games. Remove all that negativity from around the club which will come with wins and the likes of Sanchez/Martial, Pogba, Bailly, etc to rediscover their firm and suddenly my expectation doesn’t seem so wild.

As for Juventus, I really don’t think they are a side to properly “fear” (Atlético, Real, Barca, PSG okay but not Juventus). They’re beatable especially at Old Trafford. They lost Buffon, Bonucci wasn’t himself last year (granted he could be a lot better this year) and nonetheless that defense is a year older and not as impregnable as it once was. The likes of Khedira and Can starting regularly in midfield and they’ve lost Higuain up top. Ronaldo is Ronaldo and would destroy any backline on his day but I think those days are going to be less frequent this year.

The thing as well with Juventus is it’s going to be somewhat cagey which will play into Mourinhos hands. I genuinely think they’ll beat us away and we’ll take them at OT. They’re won’t be a lot of goals in the ties though.

It looks tough for us, but to be honest we need to either take a shit or get off the bog anyway in the CL. Stumbling through an easy group then getting beat by the first decent team we face in the last 16 is no good, we may as well show we can pass good teams or have a go at the EL.

Man Utd can qualify as long as they don't repeat the performance last season vs Sevilla against Valencia.

Groups B, C and H look the best. Lots of good games in those 3 groups - still expect all English teams to get thru despite the difficulty on paper.

I want to get Juventus away in the 1st game. Get it out of the way. Don't won't to go there needing a result later in the group or risk dropping points after tougher PL games.

Last few seasons and when last years under Fergie, we have been drawing none of the glamour teams. This actually feels good to get Juve and Valencia. I know this might mean we may go out but atleast it will be fun to watch those games.
It is better like this. An easy group means you go through without any challenge and lose against the first decent side you play. Now if we progress, we at least played 2 good to very good teams and are prepared for the next stage. Otherwise, we deserve Europa League

or...like Tottenham, you smash Real Madrid, think you're all special, and are then massively proven to be anything but.

Not the hardest group, but with our form and a manager in meltdown? Can't pretend im not prepping for the Europa league.

Juve will tank us, I suppose itl be close against Valencia - unless turn out to be a quiet superpower like Brighton

Marvelous groups. It's gonna be one hell of a ChL. Ronaldo back to Old Trafford. PSG vs Scouse. Barcelona got a hard group but that's positive for them. Lord Pepus got off easy. Atletico vs Borussia D. will be beautiful. Madrid still lucky even without Zidane/CR.

With all due respect to Valencia, we should get through to the Round of 16 with ease, as 2nd (let's be realistic).

At least we get some interesting ties before we inevitably crash out this year.

Always somewhat boring when we get drawn in a Champions League group of Europa League teams. We will actually need to play well and put some effort into the games to come out of this group.

If we had Liverpool's group I'd probably just start thining about winning the Europa League now...though I reckon Liverpool's style of play will get them through
