Thinks you can get an STD from flirting.
No one apart from few pundits are wanking over them.Prefer that to the Liverpool/City wankfest we are currently living in.

You must have put your mansion and grandmother on Barcelona to win it then right?I have no regrets regarding this final. Once Ineista scored his goal against Chelsea I knew they were going to win it.
Our golden generation was fecked up by the fact it overlapped with one of the best football teams in history. Otherwise we would have at least had one more CL.
We did that in 1968 at the real Wembley, but I get what you're saying. The 2011 one hurt the most. To see the biggest club in the world win it at their country's most iconic stadium would've been lived long in my memory, anyway.
So we couldn't have beaten them at all then.2009 hurt a lot. We could have beaten them. I remember eto getting that poxy goal and then they just kept the ball all the time. Could have been so different.
2011 was brutal, in that i knew we would be beaten well.
As I remember it, United were slight favorites. Both sides had really good sides at the time, but we won it the year before. Also Barca struggled to get past the semi final, where we wrapped it up in the first 10 minutes of the second leg.I think Barca were strong favourites though, right? I mean they completely obliterated us in the final. Fergie did arguably get his tactics wrong with isolating Ronaldo up front, but I doubt it would've made much difference regardless. They were another level.
That first goal from Eto killed us. The game was pretty open before that and We had chances before that, albeit being only for 10 mins. Once they scored, we were chasing shadows in the field. So we couldn't have beaten them at all then.
It is a fair critisism but not for that time and not for tha players. In 2006 he signed Carrick and 2007 he signed Anderson and Hargreaves. In the summer of 2008 we had a midfield of Scholes, Carrick, a talented Anderson, a fighter in Fletcher and an experienced Hargreaves. His mistake was not Giggs and Scholes imo, but insisting on our footballing hospital -Hargreaves, Ando and Fletcher- and talentless youth. I understand why up till 2010 he hadnt buy any cm, but after it was one of his biggest mistakes not to.It was our bad luck that we had to face Barcelona (without a doubt the best club team of the century) twice in finals
We really missed Daren Fletcher in Rome (Suspended by poor referring)..he may not be everyone's cup of coffee but he was the one we needed for those kind of big games.
I am not surprised with Carrick as it happens when you truly believe you can beat anyone in the world but in the end if you have to settle for second (I am sure even Djemba-Djemba might have felt the world's best under Fergie's management even though he was rubbish..SAF installed that kind of mentality/environment at UTD in most of his years)
Only complaint is, Fergie relied a lot on aging Giggs/Scholesy for a longer period then he should be...If he signed few good young midfield players in his last years at UTD, We could have done much better and I am sure those players might still be playing for UTD now.
If all those wrong decisions were given the tie would've still been close. Barcelona were definitely lucky and I guess you need luck to win a CL.Henry got pulled back in the box - could have been a penalty. And Eto'o was one-on-one with the keeper but was wrongly called offside. Ref does his job and Barcelona win the first leg 2-0 - the tie is dead.

They didnt actually keep the ball as well as we remember it. We had 46% first half and 54% second half. 49% overall. But it like 30% to us.So we couldn't have beaten them at all then.
Until SAF’s last season imo, which was his best overall. This is not surprising. The two seasons after was probably the most criticism he received for his form. Don't think he really recovered his mojo until we made that run to the 2011 final.
He was great pretty much all of 11/12 as well (at least when he started playing). There wasn't much difference or any between his form in 11/12 and 12/13.Until SAF’s last season imo, which was his best overall.
He did have a couple of good matches ln the second half of the 10-11 season. Mainly the CL tie va Chelsea at Stamford Bridge which I thought was his best match for us.
Also after beating them 12 months beforeLooking at betting odds from the match, we were slight favourites for the bookies. I remember feeling invincible after the season we just had, the final really came as a surprise.

I guess it just shows you how much these lads care about football. From the outside they make look like aloof millionaires who don’t give a damn...but they care deeply about their football...Tweet

I can't wait for a potential round of 16 meeting this season.I had the exact same feeling. It was the start of the Barce wankfest era too. I am just dying for the day we get our revenge against Barcelona.
Barca stole that CL. It should have been an all English final.
Agreed. I think there was something more sinister than just a bad day at the office for the ref in that Chelsea game. United-Chelsea part II wasn't as sexy to UEFA as their favorite team against United, who are obviously the most popular and at that time best club.Barcelona should never have been in the final. Chelsea were robbed by the referee. We would've probably won back to back champions league otherwise.
This. Had porto not gotten that goal in the last minute, we would have won. Should have hammered Dortmund as well.I can't believe a club of our stature has only won the CL thrice. Fergie for all his greatness and his great United teams has only won it twice. We really should have won it a couple more times. The Porto and Dortmund knockouts at OT were more hurting for me. We could really have gone all the way in that two years
1997 even though a very young team I fancied us and didn't really know much about Dortmund so that was tough to take as was going out to Monaco the following year. I felt we were fairly poor in 2004 so didn't have massive confidence we could win it but we did get shafted and the way the tournament opened up we could have had a shot.I can't believe a club of our stature has only won the CL thrice.
