I don't ever judge players on pre-season and Fabinho is the same for me. But his level is really low during it. Jorginho has looked much more like his Napoli self playing for Chelsea but then it might be because Sarri knows him inside out.
You're not worried because of how Bakayoko turned out?:nervous:

Hasn’t looked particularly good in this game. But it’s pre season at a new club in a new system. Klopp usually gets transfers right, so I’m still very hopeful

Our midfield aren't even putting him under pressure.
He'll come good but he's hilariously sloppy

Some of the analysis here are beyond belief.

Didn't even watched him, already heard Klopp saying he played on a totally different way at Monaco under Jardim, but the quickness every player, manager or team is labeled shit these days makes you wonder if everyone is so good at their professional lifes as mocking everyone one can say the Internet is full of online fast food millionaires.

Love how everyone gives other clubs players a pass because it's preseason but give our own players flak for the same shit.
Don't think it's unusual to not judge a new transfer over a few pre season games, especially when coming into a side that has a very clear (and unique) playing style. People judge on your players because they (in their eyes) have looked the same last season.

They're not even the same players from last season, how can they look the same?

 He is very much a DM/CM
I understand he played as a RB originally, but was he always a midfielder that was just asked to play a different role as he was breaking in to the side? Or was he a RB that had the skill-set to become a midfielder, and made the transition due to the Coach picking up on this?

He used to be a RB originally but if you take part several seasons of midfield play, win a league title as a midfielder, reach the CL semi final as a final, I think it's safe to say you're a midfielder. I don't understand this need to put players in only position only. He's a better midfielder than he's ever been a fullback

Being kept out of the spotlight again, even in an easy home game. Isn’t even on the bench.
Just shows that it takes time to adapt to the PL and a new country, yet some will micro-analyse Fred.

Had a very good game last night. The big difference between him and players like Wijnaldum/Henderson in that position is that he was constantly looking to play the ball forward. Our game slows down with the other options.

I'd like to see him get a run of games for us now. Henderson's not suited to that number 6 role anyway.

If he can do it against Fudbalski Klub Crvena Zvezda, he can do it against anyone.

Well he's only started one other game against Chelsea in the League Cup so I don't have much to judge him on.

Anything's better than Henderson's headless chicken performances.

In a world of my own. People know me here.

It's nice to be in a position whereby we can spend £40 million on a player & not feel the need to throw him in straight away at the deep-end. In the past we'd have had him playing every game right from the off just hoping that eventually he'd fit in. Even if he can't hack it against the better sides, he'll be handy to have as an option to give the others a rest when playing the piss-easy home matches.

We're trying this with Fred also, do you know Fred?

The difference IMO is they need a player like Fabinho. I think if he settles down as their DM he will make a huge difference to them.
I think we also need Fred or rather need Fred to be good. But yeah, I think Fabinho will be afforded more patience because Liverpool are on a winning run.

Yeah we could use Fred becoming a good player but IMO DM is their biggest weakness in first eleven and so are in more need for Fabinho to be good. And as you said they can afford to wait on him settling down.

Wijnaldum has arguably been Liverpool's best center mid this season and his ability to retain and recycle possession is immense. While he won't play look to play any through balls, he passes forward enough when playing as a DM and he is not responsible for slowing down their play (it's the collective lack of creativity in the midfield).

Henderson is a good DM who is positionally sound and who distribution is good when he keeps it simple. This headless chicken label he gets is completely overstated.

Fabinho looked good against Red Star and I'll think he'll be a good player, but Wijnaldum and Henderson are fine in that role against most teams.

A headless chicken would be better than Henderson's headless chicken performances. I hope Fabinho doesn't settle in for you. He is a good player.

Didnt like his tendency to go to ground for the tackle so often, otherwise great perfomance.

So did Falcao before he came here, Di Maria for Madrid, Sanchez for Arsenal... it means feck all really doesn’t it?
Well not really since established players are transferred based on those performances....can they replicate that form is another question but past performances provide a benchmark of expectation. Fabinho has definitely not hit the mark yet but last night performance was a big step towards what is expected.

Even if you are referring to their current team, you don't talk in those terms about a club with Red Star's history.
