Chelsea went 50 years between titles. Still didn't stop them producing some good sides who played good football throughout that barren period. I know a few Chelsea fans who were around during the 70's & 80's who say how much the enjoyed it despite the limited success. If you look at United's title-winning era's they too came with substantial gaps - 1911 to 1951 & 1967 to 1993 - But they've always prided themselves (especially since the Busby Babes) on trying to build their success by playing attractive football. OK, winning league titles is a great thing. But sometimes you can enjoy the journey too whilst en-route.
I was a Chelsea fan in the 80’s too, and enjoyed it greatly even when we were shit. I was just being a dick. :)

Ferguson could have fielded a team of blind Albanian shepherds & still win a game. He was unique in that sense.
It was crazy. He fielded a team made up exclusively of right backs and a 'keeper and they strolled to victory over Arsenal.

Salah injured on Egypt duty. As long as it's not serious, I'm hoping that the break will do him good... And part of me is glad we'll get to see Shaqiri start a few games.

Actually he was pretty poor yesterday, apart from the fantastic goal.

That's what I mean - He's been poor for us too. I still think he was rushed back to play at the WC & that drained him a bit, so I'm hoping the break will give him a chance to properly recover, that we don't rush him back, and Shaqiri takes his chance and runs with it.

A lot of hoping, but hey, we'll see.

I don't know. He has been pretty heavy on the ball and there's a clear sense of arrogance in his touches to the ball I have never seen from him before. Think he needs to look down to earth and forgets everything around him if he wants to start performing again.

In a world of my own. People know me here.
Should get through the next one without him anyway. It's Huddersfield and Wagner. Got to be 3 points.
I imagine United fans this time last season would have said the same thing when they had exactly the same points as we have now after 8 games & were due to play Huddersfield away in their 9th match.

I mean, what could possibly go wrong ?

Yeah I think its a combination of different factors which have led to his "poor" start this season.

CL final injury - biggest game of his life ends in disaster.
Rushed back for WC which didn't go well for him or Egypt.
Short pre-season.
Problems off the pitch.
Pressure of trying to match last season.

A break is needed I think and this is definitely the best time to take it. Over the next half dozen games before the Nov intl break (feck me I hate intl breaks) we should in theory be more able to rotate as the fixture list is a lot kinder than the previous ones...

...now watch Huddersfield do us.

Players dropping like flies for us at the moment. Mane's broken his thumb so is a doubt for Saturday, Van Dijk & Salah both sent back to Liverpool with injuries, and now Keita's gone off before HT today with a thigh injury. Milner's already out for a week or two as well.

Just waiting for the news that Robertson is injured and we're stuck with Moreno.

I cant imagine Mane will miss a game because of a broken thumb
Koeman has already said Van Dijk will be fine
Salah I'm sure will be fine
Kieta hasn't even been playing for you

Apparently Mane is a doubt. Personally I'd suggest amputation and then he's good to go.

Van Dijk is a weird one. Koeman also said that he's been playing with two broken ribs and has been using injections to get through games for us. That sort of thing never sounds healthy.

Keita needs to be played into some form. With Milner missing I was hoping that he'd get a run.

Could be worse. Could be Alisson with the broken thumb.

Good to see the front three linking up well in the last couple of games (resulting in 4 goals each). Shows we don't have to go all out attack like last season to get a comfortable win.

Great time for them to start clicking as I think Arsenal will score next week given their recent form. Looking forward to that, its been a while since this fixture had any title-race significance.

Shaqiri was our MOTM in the previous two games, came on today & changed the way we played going forward. Seems like the best bit of business we did along with Allison.

I love him.

Lallana shouldn’t get anywhere near this team. And Firmino needs a rest. Otherwise only good things from the game imo. Gave a much needed rest to Robbo Gomez Milner etc. Fabinho played really well, instigating 2 of our goals with his passing. Salah was amazing, reminiscent of last season. At the centre of everything. I mean what can I say about Shaqiri? He’s unbelievable. Mane, despite his trampoline of a touch scored two very well finished goals. Already has 60% of the goals he scored last season and 50% in his breakout season for us.

I still remember when i suggested Shaqiri as right winger for MU, everyone here said he is not good enough for MU. He was the bargain of the season and Klopp got a great deal.

He wouldn’t look nearly as good playing right wing for United.

Klopp’s genius was to know how well he’d do in his system, get him for a knock down price and then fire him up and get him playing well within their set up.

Actually, once you saw they’d bought him it was immediately obvious it would work well. He fits the system and is hungry to make his last chance at a big club work out. Great planning by Klopp though.

Let's see Shaqiri play in a high pressure properly competitive game before we get carried away.

The guy is a stonewall showboating cock-knocker.

I mean, even Moreno got a run-out today isn't it?

They appear to have a defence too now.
4 goals conceded compared to 16 at this stage last season. The ones against Leicester and today were a joke too. Our backline has meant our front three can be a bit shit at the moment.

Cautiously optimistic going into that Arsenal game. I think we’re looking like a more solid side than they are.

Tough game though and a draw wouldn’t be the end of the world.

I’d start Fabinho, Wijnaldum and Shaqiri and see if we can get at their back line.

They start slow, we start fast. I'm hoping we can put 2/3 past them in the 30 mins like we did back in 13/14 (that 5-1 ).

If they avoid defeat next week against the Gunners, then it only leaves 2 tricky away fixtures left against the Manchester clubs. With the shambles going on at Old Trafford, it is say just one of fixture.
They could actually go undefeated all season.....but hopefully still not win the league.

Maybe in Europe.
Are the scousers still saying they are dark horses ? Lol
Much more difficult to quantify who is the best team in europe but they are up there. They dont want to jinx it I guess, wouldnt blame them tbh.

The scousers are the best team in England, the nightmare continues.
Better than City? Not for me, Clive. We have an excellent side, and Klopp has done a good job building it over time, but City’s squad is out of this world. I think we need to upgrade on Lallana and Sturridge if we are going to claim we have the best side.

That's not going to happen! Only 1 team has ever managed it and last season's City (possibly the best team the league has ever seen) couldn't do it so it's highly doubtful that we will.
Let's see how we get on at Arsenal next week where we have a pretty woeful record before we start getting too carried away.

How can anyone say they are the best following the two Chelsea games, the City game and Napoli away?

Probably because we lost one of this (the curling cup was a different affair), have had the hardest start out of the top teams in the Premier League, and have smacked PSG and RSB. Top of the league, top of our group, and are only just starting firing. So it generally leads to people thinking the team is pretty good.

I don’t think it, BTW. I think City are. I think Liverpool are second. At least at the moment.

Woeful record?
Havent you guys smashed 7 goals against them in the last two league games at the Emirates and won and drew.
