It's so weird it went from having a comfortable lead and easy night to holding on in the last minute for 1 goal lead. Mourinho's subs ruined the game.

Decent performance with several brilliant attacks and some shaky moments in defence. Martial showed again that Jose made a mistake to drop him for Sanchez after the later came in January.

Too bad Pogba spoiled his game a bit with bad choices at the end of the game because he was really on another level before that.

I have a hard time reading people that sum his game up to these mistakes though, he did so much more and was active during 90mn.
He will always let you down when it comes to the crunch. Plays for himself and not the club.

Really glad Martial is taking that missed opportunity hard, that’s what we need to be seeing from our players.
Yep. He needs to come back and do better when he gets those opportunities again. He needs to focus on what he doesn't do well and go back and work on it. That's how you improve.

Otherwise the boy was really good. Hope he keeps it going.

We made it harder than it needed to be. For 50 minutes we were in control
At 2-0 I felt the game would open up for us and we looked dangerous nearly every time we came forward. Martial and Pogba are our two best players and the heart of the team. They bring everything so I'm not going to be too harsh. The subs we made were totally unnecessary and gave the iniatiive back to Everton. Lukaku is not needed.

Didn't spoil it for me as would sooner focus on the positive rather than the negative. It's not like Smalling didn't have the chance to get him out the shite?

Play dropped off a bit once Lukaku came on. Lukaku and Matic need a holiday.

Been critical of Pogba in the past but class shows, happy to be proven wrong.

Martial, well lad you gotta score those but still great game for him.

Pogba - largely dominant in his role. Lucky with the pen. Most influential player on the pitch. MotM for me.

Martial - A constant threat. Beginning to add end product to his game. Lovely goal.

Fred - Shaky start. lost possession a few times. Eventually settled and looked very comfortable towards the end.

Smalling - overall the best defender on the park. Terribly timed challenged for their pen. Could have seen red.

The rest were just about average/good enough.

Rashford wasn't great today. But we looked a far better team with a more mobile striker. Would like to see Sanchez given the chance to play there in the next game.

Ander was on the pitch 6 mins of normal time and 6 mins of injury time.

He made 2 tackles and 2 interceptions in that time. As much as most combative midfielders will make in a full match. Only Luke Shaw with 5 tackles and 1 interception won the ball more than Ander did for us today... In literally 12 mins.

Good performances from most, Matic looked like a complete passenger though and the Romelu 'Emile' Lukaku needs to be fired into the sun, game completely fell apart when he came on.

Happy to win, played better today, but the underlying problems obviously haven’t gone away. Still look like we lack any clear plan for how we attack, instead just attacking in fits and spurts and defensively we’re capable of conceding pretty much whenever. We seem to be moving beyond the crisis of confidence of a few weeks back but with three away games against Bournemouth, Juve and City to come, nothing today made me feel any less nervous about our prospects.

Not bad at all. At least some of our football was enjoyable to watch again which is a start. Not sure what you can really say about Lukaku, hes in terrible nick and looks far too heavy, and just disrupts our play when he comes on.

Thought we also ok defensively too considering we have Matic screening the CBs. Smalling made a brainfart for the goal, mistakes happen. Him and Lindlof are looking like our best pairing and Victor has looked mich better recently.

Pisses me off how negative we become at 2-0, why not continue to play the way that's got you to 2-0

Everton had no threat all game and yet we're left hanging on. Despite the defeat there's more positives from the Juve game than there were today

Decent performance

MOTM Martial / Pogba

Pogba still makes unnecessary passes and his defensive activity is poor he must improve that aspect and that stupid way of kicking penalties.
Martial played well. But still does not have enough experience to define 1v1

Bench Matic and Lukaku please. Another thing that bothers me is when the strikers lose the ball they are still lamenting instead of rushing to get it back.

Overall thoughts:

1. Dropping Lukaku the right decision. Team plays much better without him. And that's despite Rashford having a pretty shit game. Lukaku's cameo was everything about him in a nutshell. Shit touch, shit movement, no composure, doesn't understand the offside law.
2. Pogba is a moron. He had an almost perfect game. But those two moments of idiocy, the penalty and the giveaway, absolutely brainless and so so needless.
3. The sooner we replace Smalling and Matic the better. Getting Lukaku, Smalling and Matic out of this team is the key to a return to fast flowing attractive football. Also Smalling for the penalty, once again totally brainless and totally needless.
4. Martial is fantastic on his day and we'd be fecking suicidal to lose him.

Berba didn't score a lot of goals, but he was a magician with the ball. Lukaku can't control the ball to save his life. Reminds me of Wayne Rooney in his last years with us.
Berbatov had a good record, pretty much 1 goal every two games.

3 points, and some patches of good football. It's clear we play much better without Lukaku. Rashford's movement is leagues better.

Martial motm. Deadly finish that was.

Pogba was brilliant in the first half, but really needs to stop fecking about like that.

Anxiety ridden 3 points. But will take it. Beggars can't be choosers.

The final 10-15 ish minutes are where this game became unconvincing. We still can't dispatch teams as we should.

Good performance by the Shaw, Lindelöf, Martial, Mata. Pogba was okay but needs more work. Lukaku :boring: severely stripped of all his resources. He's done for & needs some intimacy with the bench

Some god forsaken part of Middle Earth
Would have been a good, solid game if not because of some silly mistakes resulting in a penalty.

After that, the team reverted to type and started playing nervously and giving the ball away for god knows what reason. Sloppy. Sloppy last 20 mins. Needlessly inviting pressure for the team and giving confidence for Everton.

Still, a much needed and one I'll take. We really need to string some results together now.

We reacted really well after conceding the penalty. That's a good sign. Everton didnt really have a decent chance after that.
Exactly this. Wasn't a point where I feared Everton would score.

Looked class for 70 minutes should have been more than 2-0 up Mata, Rashford, Martial and Lukaku all could have increased the lead.

More enjoyable to watch.

Martial excellent except not scoring at the end. Pogba Fred and Mata pick of the rest. Thought Lindelof had his best game for us.
Rashford quiet and Lukaku looks very short of confidence, ineffective.

Started too deep again but pushed up earlier this time before we conceded. Played some nice moves at times then played too deep again towards the end.

Positive performance, positive result Fred added energy to the midfield rashford moved players about. Ads Herrera for magic and let's see what happens. Nice Sunday afternoon.

Thought the scoreline flattered everton. We should have had at least another, possibly two more goals.

Lukaku and Matic in current state should not be anywhere near players on the pitch, not in first XI not as subs either. Will never happen tho, so yaay.
