Isn't Shaqiri the guy that was deemed average and not good enough for the level we are aspiring to?
He isn't an amazing player. Scoring two deflected goals doesn't change that. He's made an impact today, but had we signed him, he'd just be chasing shadows trying to pick up what remained from long balls to Lukaku

True. I can't judge any player of ours right now in this dour system we currently have. Any player would look poor for United right now, can't see Mourinho surviving this display. Absolutely toothless and we needed a keeper howler to score a goal, never looked dangerous besides that.

Keita though eh?

is he getting used to the pace of the League or is he just shit?
Keita is actually not suited in the left-sided position, from what I have observed. He is better in a central position, as seen against Burnley. I will not say he is a complete dud as there is enough game over the season to improve. But considering the hype surrounding his signature, I would say that he has disappointed so far.

there's just the odd sign, but that seems like a reasonable summary atm

thought Fabinho played well today - not brilliant, but he;s always doing or trying to do something

I don't think there has been a standout player this season for Liverpool. Everybody had their fair share of mistakes or bad game. What I do observe though, a change in mentality. After Alisson's clanger, Liverpool of last season would have lost or at max, drawn the game. Not anymore this season. It's true that Liverpool had luck going for them throughout this season, but the players are also more intent on winning the game, rather than panicking.

As much as I enjoy today's win, I still think Liverpool is not going to win the league this season. And I am not playing down Liverpool's chances.

Fabinho was brilliant today. Won the ball a lot, did an excellent job snuffing out potential counters, was tidy and accurate on the ball, keeping things ticking and with the right timing, had an assist, and was a consistent threat at the edge of the box. Liverpool's best player with Mane and of course the guy with the calf muscles who have calf muscles

There's only one United!
Yeah. He’s brilliant. But feel free to take a laugh from the game. It’s all you can take from it.
We took so many laughs over the last 30 years and we also took 13 Premier Leagues, so we may laugh for a very long time seeing someone else never lifted the PL Trophy.

Just thinking that next year it will be 30 years of tears is so good!

Completely battered us today. I think they will be right there until the end of the season. Very good performance from them

Can't afford any more injuries in defense....Clyne played well today considering it was his first start in eons but definitely need Trent to be back soon. Have zero cover in centerbacks though

Under soil heating.
If they do end up winning the league at least it’s a team full of foreigners. No real scousers in their main squad really.

Would be way more painful to see the likes of Gerrard and Carragher win it.

I’m clutching for positives here.

is Trent Alexander-Arnold a scouser?

City are still taking the title home - if they don't go far in UCL that is...

And now you cheer on City, after mocking them for more than 30 years. How the mighty have fallen.

Yes he is. He's got loads of improvement to make but is going to be a top quality full back for us and he could well be another one club player. He's a Liverpool fan and playing for a manager who loves him. His future could be a very successful one

Robertson is a hero and Fabinho showed today why we bought him.

Keita’s still hasn’t settled, though.

Well on paper I was expecting a tougher game

We well and truly rolled United over today, I wasn’t expecting it to be so easily controlled

So Liverpool win again. They seem to be getting stronger since that last min goal against Everton. City seem to be less convincing.
At this point of the season, if Liverpool don't win the league, it will hurt you lot big time. You can say whatever you want about how you are moving in the right direction and Klopp is under no pressure to win anything.
You are playing with the big boys now, can't go crying to mummy when you get a slap or two. Let the show begin my friends....not!

Getting really jealous of Liverpool fans right now . They have a team great to watch a manager they can be proud off who identifies with them and exciting players performing at a high level .

For once I'm glad of City's oil money and Pep as it's the only thing can stop them .

Meanwhile we just have to sit watching the garbage a poison like Jose gives us and just suck it up till he's gone

You know times are hard when find yourself becoming jealous of a club that hasn't won a league title in 3 decades.

Get a grip, lad.

Keita was always a strange midfielder. I have never seen a CM dribble that much. Even if he has an easy and good passing option he more often than not chooses to go in one on ones. Like a winger with incredible acceleration and very good close control playing as a midfielder. It worked quite well for Leipzig which plays an even more direct version of Klopp's style of football. I think he needs to work on his decision making and use his dribbling abilities a little more selectively. But then he'll be an incredible midfielder, especially in a Klopp system.

Any Utd fan that doesn't look at what Liverpool are doing now with Klopp and not feel envious is insane .

What we have done in the past 30 years does not come into that . Off course no Utd fan would swap places on that but we are talking about what we see now .

You are worse than Jose with his 3 fingers thinking the past is all that matters .

It’s true you have looked quite poor

But for these clashes I always through form out the window
Well, it was a bit in this one. We were shite, somehow found ourselves at 1-1 with you looking shaky, and it took two deflected goals to give you the win. On another day that's finishing 1-1, or even 2-1 United with some shithouse goal off Fellaini's arse, and as we've seen over the last few meetings, you're all left scratching your heads at how you managed not to win.

The fact is that we turned up with no ambition, relying entirely on the bounce going our way 100% of the time, and seeing what we could do with that. We've had that luck, or a moment of magic, to get a result in previous years, but the luck was bound to run out eventually, and when you look at our squad, everyone seems so devoid of confidence that you can't imagine anyone actually pulling something special out of the bag.

You were comfortable favourites going in, were comfortably in control of the match, and ended up winning by a comfortable margin. You might have scored two deflected goals to win the game, but you had 36 shots, while we managed 6, and even then our goal came from your keeper dropping the ball at Lingard's feet.

We're a shambles at the moment, and I'm honestly not confident of a win whoever we're playing.

We've managed to make the likes of Brighton, West Ham, Wolves, Derby, Burnley, Newcastle, Crystal Palace and Southampton look good this season. Believe me, every United fan on the planet (those of sane mind at least) expected a loss and the horribly negative performance that accompanied it.

This season was a write-off regardless of how today's game turned out, unfortunately.

I don't feel envious of Liverpool or their one League Cup triumph in 13 years, I don't care how insane that makes me.

City on the other hand.

How very dare you liken me to Jose Mourinho. That's just nasty.

The rub of the green at key moments seem to be going their way this season. The luck of champions perhaps?

He got massively lucky to score twice yesterday, without the deflections his shots would have been a lot more saveable. Still that game probably was the most impact he's had in nearly all of his career.

That's incredibly harsh on him. Though at Liverpool, I'm happy to see him back at a top team after being in limbo at Stoke for so long. He showed a lot of potential at Bayern under Heynckes but couldn't develop under Pep. It looks like Klopp has faith in him and he has performed in key moments for them this season.

Seeing some of the posts here talking about how Liverpool haven't won the league or haven't won any trophy etc while we've won the league 13 times and oh so many trophies in the recent past, I just hope this doesn't turn out to be our "5 times, la". Just hope we don't do a Liverpool and cling on to our glorious trophy laden history etc etc.

His goals might have been deflected

Top players sometimes need to make there own luck

And he did just that yesterday when he can one with his immense positivity and creativity.

United couldn’t handle him, couldn’t handle a lot of things yesterday tbf but Shaq was also one of them

Are you really following this season or what? Don't make much out of this victory. This season is worse than Moyes one. Weaker teams have beaten United.
