We should remain equally irritated if OGS drops point as if it were Jose.

Any other reaction makes absolutely no sense to me.

I dont think it is necessary to have a lot of top level experience, but some decent level would be nice. I fear for us against PSG and the big teams with Ole in charge. There are some in here who dismiss a manager if he hasnt won a trophy
He could be an excellent manager too, the lack of experience at the top level only means that we can't really make any projection.

I am being realistic, haven't most of you been screaming from rooftops how our squad is filled with talent who that 'miserable cnut' Jose isn't able to extract out? Then why all of a sudden none of that matters? Just because one of our old boys is in the hot seat?

You can make zero arguments as to why Ole should be a caretaker manager for next 6 months, when better options are available.

Enough experience to take us to 3 finals winning two of them.
1. Solskjaer ticks all the boxes for an interim appointment. He seemingly very willing to come and knows the club inside out. He also embodies the footballing principles that we're currently missing from the team. His schedule also is relatively free for the time that we need him. The fans would also get on board straight away because he's a legend obviously and thus would lift everyone's spirits at the club. That's many arguments...

2. Mourinho was past it. You're deluded if you think us getting to a few cup finals made him a success. He had all this 'top level' experience in the world which you think is so important and he failed, that's the point which you missed completely.

It guarantees nothing!

Only way to win against PSG would have been to appoint a pragmatic manager(like the one we just sacked) given that our team will need time to practice on how to play attacking football.

OGS will not be manager next season, but an appointment to appease the fans anger towards owners/Woodward. Additionally it should be said that OGS uses younger players every match(So if he is appointed we should expect to see Greenwood in PL before long) and when Molde has their day they are miles above the other Norwegian teams.

Reason why Blanc and Jardim might not be appointed is due to the fact they might be considered for a permanent appointment and we will hopefully appoint a DoF before we appoint a new manager.

Plans for a director of football
United are looking for a director of football as well as a new manager at the moment.

But the club won’t abandon those plans for a director of football, with prospective managers set to be told they will have to work within the new structure.

James Robson @jamesrobsonES

Any prospective #MUFC appointment will be told they are expected to work with a DOF during interview process.

Maybe they want a DOF in first.
They want one before the permanent manager which is why we're appointing an interim.

Results weren't the worst thing about Mourinho, they were just supposed to be the saving grace for all the other shite and we didn't even get that.

Willing and knows the club inside out? Footballing principles?

Seriously, that's the best argument you guys can put up? You can fit in 100s of our ex-players who can fit that mould including ones who are living in Manchester in Scholes, Neville, Keane and one working at the club in Carrick. Jesus wept

Never called him a success anywhere, so stop putting words in my mouth. You want to discredit for anything nice he did, that's not the case with me. His experience at top level showed in some games, most importantly in crucial matches we won. Obviously he didn't emulate that successfully over the course of 30 months and that's why he was rightly sacked.

Ole has none of it, and again just to reiterate my previous point. There is no credible argument you could make for his appointment. Just the old waffle we've heard for ages wrt Giggs 'knows the club' 'Utd way' 'willing'. It's just laughable.

I seriously don't get our fan base honestly.

Whoever comes in weather its Blanc, Ole, Cantona or whomever...its the definition of a free swing folks!

I mean were in season 3, Jose was supposed to win us the league within 3 years wasn't he? He was the "serial winner" but instead it was like "serial murder".

If we don't win a Champions League it sure a bloody hell isn't Ole's fault we don't win it! Blanc couldn't win it with PSG with a better squad and club in a more harmonious setting, why would he at United?

We've had a season from hell so far and even trying to get excited or remotely arsed about watching our games has been a serious struggle, so here's a novel idea... how about folks try enjoy the rest of the season?

I'd settle for some excitement in our play, attacking teams and morale lifted and if we get 4th and an FA Cup... I'll take it!
Im not just going to enjoy the season because we have a new manager, I still want us to actually play well and try win things this season.

I don't know why people have accepted to write this season off in December.

Solskjaer is far more experienced than any of the names that you've mentioned. He's also not a big enough name that he's willing to come in and fill in for a few months.

He's not being brought in to be successful you moron he's a temporary appointment while Woodward tries to get his shit together. What about that don't you understand.

He isnt being appointed to win the Champions League FFS  :houllier:

All those names were befitting of the laughable criteria you laid out, I'm just pointing the lunacy of it and making you see it. Job done.

Also, never said they should be appointed. We could've approached Hiddink, Blanc or Wenger. All bigger and far more experienced than Ole.

Great, now you're resorting to namecalling when you don't have anything credible to add.

Not gonna lie, my romanticism clouds the potential negatives to an Ole appointment.

I’d love to see it. Fairly low pressure tenure at Utd (considering Mou’s table setting), will definitely look for us to show our quality rather than negate the oppositions, and makes my Noggy heart leap every time I see him.

I’d be happy enough with Carrick or any of the other younger fellas with close links to the club. At least they could command the respect of the players and they won’t be rocking the boat or making huge changes, so will keep all the players on side and playing for him.

What we really need for the rest if the season is someone to inject a bit of positivity into the squad again and get the players all playing to the best of their ability, just take the shackles off and let them at it. The fans will back someone like that 100% as long as we play attacking football the results are secondary as no one could fault a caretaker manager for not getting top 4 or winning the CL from this position.

I'd rather Solskjaer than Blanc tbh as caretaker.

Irrespective of the Cardiff mess think Solskjaer has good attributes as manager. And he might even then continue as a assistant under a new manager.

Blanc exactly didn't play attacking football either.

No we should support the caretaker manager until the end of the season and not spit our dummies out like spoilt children. Whoever is appointed is coming into an uphill struggle to qualify for the CL and most fans would be happy just to see an improvement in style, make us fun to watch again, no one is seriously expecting us to make top 4 but its a bonus if we do.

So what do you want us to do?
Should we have left Jose there?
Should we hire a less preferred candidate permanently, in the hope of making an unlikely top four?
Should we hire a new manager before finalising our new structure with a DoF?
Why should we treat Ole the same as Jose? Ole hasn't been here 2.5 years, Ole hasn't spent 400m.
A caretaker for six months didn't kill Chelsea football club. I really don't understand what you guys want.

Like I have said Ole ticks all the boxes.

You mocked me when I said that him knowing the club and its ethos is an argument for bringing him in but look at the facts, it's a short-term thing so having pre-existing knowledge of the club and its principles is only going to be advantageous.

I gave multiple logical reasons but you chose to skate over them and I'm not going to explain further because it's fairly obvious why an appointment like Solskjaer just makes a lot of sense to all involved parties.

Carlos Queiroz could be a decent bet.
He's still in charge of Iran, I think someone said yesterday there's a tournament coming up which Iran will be playing in so it's unlikely he'll leave before then.

Yep. Carlos was head coach of the last great United side in 2008. That is no coincidence. He has four pro licenses in different countries, a degree in sports science, he’s coached all around the world, made something from nothing in getting Iran to the WC finals and he knows United inside out. He is the safest pair of hands I can think of, but will Iran let him go?

People complaining about OGS and his experience are missing the point. It’s not about trophies, it’s about removing the negativity and sadness around the place, getting the players to remember how to smile and get attacking instincts back again, convincing DDG and Martial to sign long term contracts

Exactly, he's a legend and he'll come with lots of positivity. If he gets us playing half decent football, which I believe he will then he'll have done his job and we can go from there in the summer.

I quoted the boxes multiple times, and they are not a credible requisite for an appointment at any club even if it's an interim one.

Blanc like many have said before me has been out of job for a year and a half, he doesn't have many offers on the table. He'd jump at the chance of managing United and try to make a stake for making this interim job into a permanent one if he were to do well. Ole is being told that you're only going to be interim manager, so go ahead and do whatever you want for next 6 months because there aren't going to be any consequences. Why are people not seeing this?

The issue is that it's a long caretaking job, negativity will only be removed if we play nicely or win, the initial honeymoon period will be over by February.

Think Solskjaer would be in with a shout, (althiugh ipersonally think they should bring Jardim in now), He is a bona fide legend. bearing what happened at cardiff he did really well and earnned high praise from Sir Alex whilst he was in charge of the reserves and went on tgo win 2007=2008 Lanchashire Cup conquering the Scousers 3–2 in the final. Solskjær won his first Manchester Senior Cup by vanquishing Bolton Wanderers 1-0.

Upon taking over at Molde Ferguson said in thhis artiicle https://www.independent.co.uk/sport...kjaer-appointed-manager-of-molde-2129216.html

"Ole has had a good period with our reserve team, which has given him a foundation to start somewhere else," confirmed Ferguson.

"He feels it is time he went back to Norway, which also helps his family situation.
"He has been a fantastic servant to us and I am sure he will do well.
"He has worked with some really good young players in our reserve team and has contributed to their development.
"Once he gets experience of managing a club in its own right who knows where it will take him?
"Molde is a very progressive club in Norwegian football, so this is a good start for him."

At his home club Molde he took them to their first Tipelligaen in 100 years and did it again the following season.

He knows the United what and with the right people around him he hay do well. I had a conversation about this in the newbie forum some months ago.

Not sure if this is a wind up. But Neville comes across as one of the only few who actually know what he is talking about.
He has taken a public stance in lambasting the way the club is run as though it's fact and had the cheek to act wise after the fact re Mourinho's contract extension when he was vehemently defending him just a couple of months ago.

He also took the opportunity to have a cheap dig at Pogba this morning for something which had nothing to do with him. He uses his voice irresponsibly to peddle nonsense agendas yet he has the gall to criticise players for their lack of professionalism.
