I've no problem with your statement that it doesn't gaurentee success, but your point on Liverpool achieving success with their owners is just not a valid oneHow long are we going to cling on to that one for?
They have gotten better with each season and nothing frustrates me more. I used to absolutely love it when they had Gillette as an owner, Hodgson as manager and they were doing what we are this season - getting battered, playing dross football.
But for the last couple seasons it’s surely obvious that they are playing the better football, have the better system, without the need of some dodgy owner. Investment, yes, but we aren’t short of that now. They almost won the champions league last season and they’re currently top of the prem.
There is zero guarantee that a team will win anything with infinite cash. Yes, we’ve got Europa, an FA cup and a League cup to our name and Liverpool have won nothing in the five years since Fergie left. But we have not challenged for a single title in that time and this is the second season Liverpool are in the running. Money isn’t our problem, the culture and set up is. I don’t think MBS’s oil money is going to change a thing, other than have us funded by one of the most repressive regimes on the planet.
