I'm baffled at the idea that the board has been so generous as to offer £50m for Ole to go get Costa AND Toby. Either of them would probably cost over that, especially half way through a season.

Conspiracy Theory: Ole was hired knowing that they can easily replace him with Poch/Zidane even if Ole does pretty well. If they'd hired someone of higher caliber it could be harder to see them off once they find someone new.

The conspiracy would be that they intentionally avoided hiring a higher caliber manager because they didn't want us to do so well that we couldn't sack them. It's a stupid theory but I'm sure someone out there will love it

Indeed. Glazers dream ticket - appeased fans, lowered expectations and a manager who's simply grateful to be here and won't demand anything.
It's really difficult because I absolutely love the guy and want him to do well, but I'm very wary of him doing just well enough to get given the job, we miss out on Pochettino and the cycle continues.
The current board just can't make normal decisions that are befitting of a huge club.

We got rid of Jose because he was damaging the club image, our best players were not willing to extend their contracts and I can bet sponsors were unhappy as well with all the negativity surrounding the club. The manager we want is not available until summer hence why we chose Solskjaer who is respected by everyone, likes attacking football and done a good job at Molde. He is here for 6 months only while Ed tries to sort out the mess (appoint a DoF, convince the likes of De Gea, Martial to sign new contracts etc), then we hire a permanent manager. Why is it so difficult to understand for some of you?

Its bizarre, people are worried he will do well and be kept on. Bizarre logic.I think we all should be much more worried that he won't do well. As I said earlier I think its crazy to land him with the xmas fixtures, if things go wrong for him they could go wrong pretty quickly.

But the truth is things could get much worse and it’ll still be less depressing than having Jose here.

We've got history with this as a fanbase, and have an utterly incompetent board footballing wise, and owners who are proven to be happy to get top 4 while City and Liverpool aim for the top.
We're a club in flux, our football is discordant and our rivals are becoming very strong... yet we're talking, already, about giving the manager of Molde, who's only PL experience was relegating Cardiff, the job fulltime if he can just play some good football in a season 'that is already over'.
If this guy wasn't Ole, the utter insanity of the situation would be plain to see.
With Moyes - if Fergie hadn't retired and then suggested him, the utter insanity of the appointment would've been plain to everyone.
Not sure why people are moaning. We cannot lose out from this arrangement. If things go south, well they already were under Jose and quickly too. In that case we don't hire him permanently. If he does well, bodes well for us. How can we possibly not call this a win-win?
