Many United fans aren't sufficiently aware of the closeness of Pochettino's working relationship with Levy and how much this means to him (Pochettino). He feels hugely appreciated at Spurs - on an emotional level this is very important to him - and understands about the stadium-related financial constraints.

This is what he said 7 months before signing a new contract:

"It's true that sometimes I don't want to be so kind with Daniel because Daniel knows more than me that sometimes we have differences, but I am in love with him. Because he is the type of person who gave me one day, three and a half years ago, the possibility to be here. To be able to write some history for this amazing club, to start to discover a different style of club, a different kind of project. To be here to me is more than a pleasure. I am so happy and my family and that is why I am so proud ... Of course my commitment with the club and Daniel is complete and of course then that depends more on them than me, to be here for 20 years (my emphasis). But of course I think Tottenham is a big club with massive potential. After three-and-a-half years we are always growing and growing."

If the relationship broke down then things might be different, but the relation is solid, Here's what he said 2 weeks ago in relation to the stadium delay:

"The chairman is suffering a lot. He is so tired about work. The last few months he didn't sleep because he is trying to deliver the stadium. I think people don't realise the magnitude of the project and how difficult it is to manage. Everyone is disappointed because we are still not playing there but the day we move everyone is going to realise how massive the project was and how good the facilities are. It doesn't just depend on him. When you build something, you depend on many companies. He is working so hard, too hard, to leave a legacy for ever (my emphasis). And I think that's fantastic."

Or if he felt that Spurs can't go further, then again he might leave. But he has spoken in near future terms about Spurs winning the league title. And we are about to move into one of the best stadiums in world football.

In short, Pochettino is a believer in the Spurs project. He ain't give it up this summer just because United come calling.
This is so touching. It made me cry. Such a beautiful romantic love story.

I don't know how you do it man.. How many posts a day do you write here on this subject?

We get it, you firmly believe he will not be here come summer and I am pretty sure people understood this was your opinion after your 100th post on the matter.

My post adds additional information concerning Pochettino which some other posters might appreciate. Your post adds nothing to the discussion.

They do? Well then at least keep it interesting and stop using the same quotes over and over.

Ultimately it will be up to a tribunal. Levy will not be able to do shit except sit there and suck it up if Poch decided to leave.
You obviously don't know Levi. Move on folks, Poch isnt going anywhere.

Glaston that is cringe, even by your lofty standards. Sacked and departing managers leave a trail of such mawkish platitudes, all the time.

Just ask @Arruda how he felt about the unwavering fealty of Andre Villas Boas, a case you should be familiar with.

Wake up in the morning state your opinion, state it again with more feeling, go to bed reset your opinion, wake up in the morning and state your opinion again. In the mean time nothing is any further forward, rinse and repeat.
:lol::lol: So true. Glaston is the best entertainment really once you stop taking him seriously, which everyone does apart from himself.

The key bit in delusionalspur's post above is "This is what he said 7 months before signing a new contract:", which would have been around November 2017, well before apparent United interest came to fruition. We're now more than a year after his statement, so when the bigger club comes calling...

I used to get really wind up and annoyed by Glaston but now I've learnt to stop taking him seriously like you said, actually grown to respect him begrudgingly for his incredible persistence and positivity no matter the circumstances. Spurs is actually an extremely likeable team irregardless of some of their posters here. They are the only big team who didn't splurge and did stuff the right way. A truly home-grown team. As much as I'd love to see Pochettino at United, I'd feel sorry for Spurs and their fans if he leaves because it just doesn't feel right and you can't help but feel that Spurs might just disintegrate if Poch leaves. Poch leaving for Real Madrid or us is akin to the evil corporation triumphing over the good and hardworking underdog.

If I were Poch, why would I leave a club where I'm regarded as a God for either teams with no guarantee of job safety? Look at Moyes. 11 years at Everton, his career was ruined with just 8 months at United and now he's become the laughing joke of football with Everton fans unappreciative of him even though he dedicated 11 years with them. For all you know, Poch could turn out to be like him. He has unwavering players loyalty and trust at Spurs who have already cemented his legacy with a solid top 4 finish year in year out. I'm sure if he stays, he would win them the title at some stage. Just unfortunate that he has to compete in the strongest PL era.

Cheers to those who pointed out we wouldn't be dealing with Levy since this would be a managerial swoop.

If madrid come in for him he will be off I think. I also think he will be in with mega millions for Harry Kane if he does go.
I am not convinced by him either. He hasn't won anything in his career so despite him being a good manager and able to build a good team and invest in youth he needs to cross the next line and win a trophy or two to be considered a top manager. I think I would be surprised if madrid came for him based on that, if they do he for sure will be gone.
Is that more so a product of what he has at his disposal at Spurs? Great players but not much punch in terms of getting that huge signing to send you over the line to win a league. I also agree in terms of CL-it's not like he's a magician or anything.

I'm here to find out-what are the best things about Mauricio Pochettino-and where does he falter?

He can improve almost anyone.
Rashford, Lingard, many caf member believe them to be "championship level" would definitely do wonders under Poch. They're just his type of players.

We would be but in the end it would be up to a tribunal. It won't come to that, though. Usually, when someone's head has been turned, there is no point in keeping them.

Kane would when he wins nothing again.
But it's got to be a mutual decision between the club and the player. Levy won't sell him till the stadium is up. Needs to sell tickets.

Yawn ... all this wishful thinking is quite boring really.

Half the posts about Spurs from opposition fans bang on endlessly - year after year - about the alleged imminent departure of our star players. And when it doesn't happen they carry on anyway. :wenger:
You must admit that once the new stadium rolls around, if they don't win a CL, or premier league title (which they could very well do) he wouldn't be in the wrong reposition for his career.

I was waiting for the new stadium line. Well done.
I agree Levy wouldn't agree to selling him because he is his number one reason people will come to see games. Maybe after the stadium comes they will finally spend more? Who knows really.

Exactly. I am loving this ignorant spurs fans theory that Levy holds all the cards and will be put on gardened leave if he is to leave

Manager in talking nicely about current club and boss shocker.

Poch could quite easily bin off any talk of united. Both in the press and behind the scenes.
He isn't doing, as that would be madness. He'll at least see how this season pans out first.

I know you are new. But why are you quoting my post from January!

Why don’t you respond to the whole thread whilst you at it. Feel free.

You have a point but in the case of Poch, it could end up elevating his career as a manager and have the opposite effect. His qualities as a manager are already prominent, if he respects the 'United tradition' and gives his all, I can't see how this wouldn't work out personally. It might take a while, and we'll have to be patient, but with the right set up he will thrive I reckon. He is certainly no David moyes and whilst he might not have the experience of Mourinho, his attributes as a manager seem to be in line with what we, as a club, are looking for in a manager.

Well thats the thing isnt it, the right setup. He will want a lot of control over the footballing side of the business. Will Woody allow that? Im not sure.

He will also want his team of coaching staff. Im not sure he would want someone appointed by the board or Woody.

And once everything is said and done he is not in LVG or Jose's league. When it comes to experience winning trophies.

The question marks remain. But is he a good fit for our structure specifically? And will he actually leave Spurs after signing a long term contract?

The cost will also have to be considered. Pay off Jose, establish an xfer fee with Spurs for Poch, plus added bonus Levy tax. Pay out Poch's five year contract at Spurs, that looks costly.

There is no question he will want his own backroom staff.

Is Poch a top or bottom man?
I don't think Poch is a United manager! He's like every other manager we have had since Fergie.

Poch thinks it's his way or the highway and we don't need that shit all over again :(

Personally, I dont think he’ll come.
Neither do I, if he leaves Spurs it will be for Real Madrid.

All the Spurs fans looking over their shoulders watching us and then it maybe RM who steal in and take their prized manager.
Suspect a lot depends on whether Spurs win some silverware this season to keep the saga going, if they do he will stay, if they don't off to Madrid. Spurs have been 'nearly men' for years but Poch will need to move if no success this year, otherwise his star will begin to fade and he's tarred with the same almost nearly man brush!

Agree, I think Zidane will be here and Poch will be at Madrid. And as a result Kane will go with him for a massive fee. But none of us know for sure and I’m quite weirdly enjoying trying to figure out how it’s all gonna end up.

Pochettino would be a fool to take the Real Madrid job right now imo.
- He won't have any real control over who to sell and buy.
- He doesn't have a squad for his style of pressing.
- The expected instant results are higher than the squad is capable of imo.
- He won't be allowed time to coach.
- Player power.

If he was given an unprecedented (for Real Madrid) amount of time and freedom to renew the squad I think he could be a success, but I can't see that happening.

He would be far better off staying at Spurs if the other choice was Real Madrid, of course they are one of the biggest and most successful clubs in football but I would think alot of managers would realise by now it's probably more of a poisoned chalice than United is by this point. Pochettino would get nowhere near the amount of time or support he's been afforded at Spurs and probably would be afforded at United, a few losses at Madrid and the entire mob will be on his back out for blood, i wonder how he would handle this, extreme amounts of player power and Perez does nothing but interfere. Poch just strikes me as a very nice guy and I do wonder if Real Madrid would be like tossing him to the wolves because I think they'd rip him apart and leave him a shell of the manager he was, kinda like Mourinho.

Is it a poisoned chalice? The Real Madrid job. Chelsea and Barcelona sack their managers with the same frequency and no manager seems to be afraid of taking those jobs.

In the past ten years, Real have had 8 managers, Bayern and Chelsea have had ten managers not counting caretaker bosses. That Bayern stat is especially surprising because no one regards them in the same light as Real Madrid in terms of being a sacking club. Ironically Real would have only had six managers to this point if Zidane had stayed.

I'm not even going to check the Italian clubs because they change managers quite frequently as well. PSG too. Rules of the game are simple, succeed or you lose your job and thats how it is at every club, not just Real Madrid.

Hell, United have had 4 managers in 7 years, not counting Giggs, 3 if Ole doesn't count either.

If Poch is worried about getting sacked then he shouldn't go to any other club, not just Real Madrid.
