What would be an acceptable offer for Pogba?

Great leader Keane, good tackler, decent passer, but that's kind of it. He doesn't posses even a quarter of Paul's technical abilities.

Dunno why I feel that most people overrate Keane just because he was a leader.
It happens with only United fans and British fans. No one outside that circle sees him as one of the best midfielders.

What in the holy world of shit is this? I'm not even a Utd fan but even I know this is utter nonsense of the highest order.
Explain yourself. It seems that leadership is more valued on here than talent. Watching Kane and Viera you'd think that it was obvious who was the better player between the two, but not in the view of some people.

Good, so Pogba is better than Keane, Kane and Messi for good measure. Glad that's sorted...

Kane is a striker, Viera was a defensive midfielder - it’s not obvious in my mind who anyone would consider to be the better player?

How is it obvious? I presume you meant Keane, not Kane.

Firstly, Keane was much better defensively. Vieira always had to play next to another defensive midfielder, and the rare time he was expected to do it himself he struggled. Whereas Keane was doing it next to a very attack-minded Scholes. In terms of controlling the team around, it was close but I'd give Keane the edge. That's the thing which a lot of people tend to completely forget how good Keane was at doing - controlling the team and setting the tempo of the match. Vieira was better at driving the ball forward himself and had more tricks with the ball at his feet, but overall I do give Keane the edge.

In terms of direct battles between them, the only time Vieira got the better of Keane was during the two or so year period when Keane's level started dropping. Before that Keane almost always won the individual battle. And then right at the end when Vieira started dropping away as well, Keane once against started getting the better of him despite being even further past his best.

I think what the guy who said that meant is that Pogba is an unique kind of midfielder, a level above any other midfield like Messi is above any other player.

Pogba is twice the player Roy Keane was. Robson, I didn't watch him play to have a fair personal view of him, how many years he played in the PL format?
Yeah it's that time I need a break from the Caf

You shouldn't be allowed to watch football.

You get stuff like that nowadays with the generation that just started watching footie after YouTube became a big thing. I choose just to ignore it and revel in the feeling of being an old grumpy bastard.

Under Mourinho i'd have sold him for a quid, he was that bad. Attitude and performance was a disgrace.

Under Ole - he's booming. He looks to be enjoying his time here again and playing much better.

For me, in this market. 150 million and above and it would be worth considering. As the selling club, with no reason to sell unless Pogba is actively wanting out, we hold the cards.

He may have talent, but if things don't go his way then he'll stink the place out no worries. He has a big influence in the dressing room, if he is pouting then that will transfer to others too

That being said, in this form. I wouldn't sell him. But he has the potential to want away, every player has they're price.

To PSG - I'd take 100mil + Verrati.
To Juve - I'd take 80 mil + Dybala
To Real - I'd take 200mil
To Barca - I'd take 80mil + Coutinho

Pogba as good as he is has not even reached Keane's level yet (if he ever does) never mind being twice the player. You can't have watched much of Keanes career, or you only caught the tail end of it and are judging him entirely by that.

He can watch, just not post.

Robson = Keane and both > Vieira who was > Pogba (to date).

It's a generational thing. People see a midfielder striding forward and think "oooh he's good!!" with no understanding of what a complete midfielder is.

Watching Robson was to see a leader, at times almost a one man team. Watching Keane was again to see a leader (different style though) and the heartbeat of United, dictating games.

Watching Pogba is to see a decent attacking midfielder with excellent technique/passing but needs other midfielders to make his game work.

It's also trendy these days to proclaim how overrated players like Keane and Scholes were, and how they weren't rated on the continent like real players.

They don't outside of being a great leader, he was also a fantastic midfielder. One of the best in europe and the best in England for many years.

Only if you watched Pogba under Mourinho. If you watched him at Juve and in his NT you'd have a different opinion.
You wouldn't. Nobody watched Pogba of France and Juve and in their right mind felt be was twice the player Roy Keane was. As per the French posters he wasn't even in their top 3-4 players for France.

He's an excellent player and did well for both those teams. But at no point was he this mythical footballer a level above everybody else. Maybe you're confusing him with Messi and have been watching Barcelona all along?

Neither did Rio Ferdinand. Neither does DDG. Better players, though.

Because Viera had to do more for his team than shielding the defence? Viera needed another player next to him because, like Pogba, he had more to offer going forward and his talent couldn't allow him to only sit back and protect the back 4.

Keane is the typical British midfielder, less talented but a lot of aggressiveness and energy to run around like a mad dog. Those type of players look great under a well oiled team where their lack of skills are covered by other creative players (see Milner at Liverpool) , but would struggle under a different set up where their flaws would get exposed (Henderson when Liverpool struggle).

When they faced, Keane looked good because his game (most of the time our games against Wenger Arsenal) consisted on kicking the shite out of them, a physical game to compensate from the difference of talent between the two teams. Keane was more physical than Viera, reason why he was more effective in those games.

Football is played differently now to the days of box-to-box players like Keane and Viera so it is stupid to be contrasting Pogba to the two, especially when Mourinho expected Pogba to be box-to-box and he clearly wasn't comfortable in that role.

Anyone who seriously compares Roy Keane to Milner and Henderson should instantly be banned from this forum or at the very least given an appropriate tagline.

Agreed with most of this, except for the fact that I'd never have sold Pogba even under Mourinho, the talent was obvious.

Pogba is not yet world class. Very good player, borderline world class at times but he still has a few deficiencies in his game that need to be ironed out for him to reach the truly elite level. As for his dressing room influence, that is normal. Usually, the best player in the squad does wield a bit of power in the dressing room.

I do think Pogba won't be staying permanently with us though unless we reach Real or Barca's level in the next 2 years. Raiola will instigate a transfer, and I think Real would be his likely destination. But we can enjoy it for as long as it lasts, by the time he moves I assume another world class midfielder would be available on the market to replace him.

Until this, I thought you were just young or clueless (or both) but now I see you're just wumming... the Cafs clickbait poster.

(PS. As ONE EXAMPLE, Keane did pretty well against a midfield of Davids and Zidane in the 99 semi? Unless you think they were rubbish too?)

I suppose the reason he was so effective against Juventus in 99 was also because he was more physical than Zidane and Davids? I wish you had been around earlier, we would have made a fortune- "The key to stopping World class midfielders" - Run around like a mad dog and be more aggressive than them. I guess Xavi and Iniesta and Pirlo were lucky they never had to face Lee Cattermole, he would have showed them alright.

I think it is you who needs to explain yourself - Keane proved himself to be one of the very best and most influential midfielders for Utd in the modern era. Pogba hasn't done anything yet to deserve him being compared with the likes of Keane in a Utd shirt.

I don't know who these Roy Kane and Harry Keane fella's are, but going by these posts it's time to head to the overrated players thread.

Ole has revolutionized Pogba, so I don't think that anyone can realistically sign Pogba from us. If Kane is valued at €350 million, than Pogba should be at least €600 million (at least at the moment).

Feet up at home.
Keane treasured possession. SAF repeated on many occasions how good he was at not giving it away.

This is something Paul can still learn from. They are widely different players and I don't see much point in comparing one to another.

No he was superb in that one game. Nobody can deny it, I'm talking about the ensemble of his career.

And I'm not comparing Keane with Milner or Henderson, he was a far better player then the two, I'm only pointing the type of player he was.

Ignorance is nothing to be proud of.
Not that there’s much truth in what you’ve said, he was well respected across Europe and Italian teams were all over him trying to get him.
Roy Keane was a world class playmaker and a pass and move player, world class, that’s undeniable.

Mate just stop. You're having a mare. Either you've not seen Keane much or you simply don't understand football all that well. Either way its time to stop.

Keane benefited from playing for a winning team managed by a great manager, and played more than 12 years for us, put Pogba in the same conditions and wait for a decade to judge him.
