Any good recommendations for something to watch with the missus? This is us, looked promising but watching the trailer made it look really generic and bland.

Things like You, 13 reasons why would probably be ok - but I often find them formulaic and often have punchable characters.

I guess the request is for something I can equally tolerate.
Exorcist season 1 is very good. Season 2 is good too but the first season is genuinely great.

Banshee is my other recommendation.

My wife would complain the minute he fecks the barmaid in episode 1, let alone the bar fight later on in the episode.

What are you on about? Both suggestions are brilliant. GOAT horror series and a very good action series.
Haven't seen the exorcist but Banshee was absolutely horrendous. I remember the dude stepping into a random octagon somewhere and beating up an mma guy a few sizes bigger than him. I mean, I understand some action scenes that are far from possible but that was the moment I had to turn off the show. The other thing I remember is some awesome pair of tits on one of the ladies he meets so I guess it wasn't all bad.

From what I am watching recently I would recommend the Sinner. I have not finished it but the second season seems as good as the first.

Watch gomorrah when you've finished that. It's so good. Ozarks too.

Have you seen la casa de papel?

I have not seen Gomorra, I will write it down. Ozark yes, I like it a lot, another good recommendation.

I started la casa de papel but I didn´t like it, only watched 5 or 6 episodes.

Mrs Nialler loved 'Gomorra', 'Banshee', 'The Blacklist', 'Luther', 'Animal Kingdom' and 'Sons of Anarchy'. I now have her watching 'The Punisher' s1 and she is loving it. Only thing she really dislikes is sci-fi. I also tried to get her to watch one of my favourite recent shows, 'Ash V'S The Evil Dead' but she wasn't into it at all.
'This Is Us' kept her amused for a while but it kind of wears you out after a couple of seasons.

How many shows give the protagonist an obstacle to overcome and then he completely fails to overcome it? Over the top violence is one of the selling points of the show. Hood's obviously going to eventually defeat enemies he comes up against. Just like every other action hero. Defeating an MMA fighter isn't even that ridiculous.

I'd rather have him shoot helicopters out of the sky while doing backflips a motorcycle. There was just something about that mma scene I absolutely hated, I don't know why.

Iirc I didn't really like the fight with the MMA champ either at the time @Vato (probably because I love MMA), but I thought the show was pretty consistently great after that with some genuinely brilliant fight scenes throughout.

Been watching Line of Duty recently, it's so easy to binge a season as they do a great job of keeping you on the edge of your seat. It goes from 0 to 100 in an instant. As much as I know something is about to go down at any point it still leaves me thinking "Feck me!" half the time.

Also thoroughly enjoyed Big Little Lies, the performances were all great. Not too sure what a second season can deliver but considering the author of the source material is involved I'll give it a chance.

I’m just sitting and staring at both Prime and Netflix and I just don’t fancy anything.

I’ve watched all the obvious stuff before like The Wire, Sopranos, 6 Feet Under, 24, Stranger Things, True Detective, Mad Men, Boardwalk Empire, Billions, Band of Brothers...

I’m dying for something new to get my teeth into.

Barry sounds good. I might get that. Anything that I need to watch? It doesn’t have to be on Netflix or Prime.

If you liked Sopranos and The Wire, watch Gomorra. It's the next best thing.

Especially when you pull out that finger move. That was nasty. Always seem to remember this fight even though it’s been years since I watched it last.

Netflix, Sex Education, get on it people. Just silly fun. “its creepy that a 16yr old boy is a sex therapist”

You might wanna check out Lilyhammer, it stars Steve van Zandt who played Silvio in Sopranos, it's pretty good.

Taking the next corner instead of Jones!
Did you guys like it? One of the few shows I actually miss even though they ended it on a high and the only way they could.
Loved the first three seasons but just started season four and wtf is going on?
No problem following the narrative and time-lines during seasons 1-3 so why is the fourth so incomprehensible?
It's like they got renewed for a final season and had three seasons worth of story left so tried to cram it all in!
People that have spent 3 seasons trying to find each other throughout time are suddenly following different agendas and not a word of … why? really disappointed, thought this would pan out better.
Just about to start S04E04 should I bother?

The finale was bad, utter shite to be exact.

Absolutely loved Line of Duty, so many plot twists, great acting, great storylines. As you say, edge of your seat TV.

It really does it's job well! The attention to detail is great and the storylines feel cohesive and well thought out. Obviously it's stretching reality a bit but that's TV innit, I just think the writing elevates it to another level. And the interview scenes are always top notch, Adrian Dunbar just owns every one of those scenes.

Do you mean Line of Duty or Big Little Lies? If it's the former don't spoil it! If it was the latter what didn't you like?

Nathan for you is incredible. The very first section with the poo ice cream is a really bad choice to start the show though, it really doesn't reflect how good the show goes on to be. I wonder how many potential fans of it were lost because of them opening with that idea.

Just watched the netflix documentay Fyre about the fyre festival. Absolutely fascinating.
Yep I can't believe it took me so long to discover it. The way some of them escalate crack me up  Needs to just pretend someone tipped big in a restaurant and then next thing he's creating his own newspaper.

Only got a few episodes left and then I'll be sad.

You and Sex Education are the last things I’ve on Netflix. Polar opposites in genre but both fairly good.

If you like the Sopranos Bad Blood on Netflix is very good .

Also Start up on Prime is a good show and reminds me a little of The Wire in how they show every aspect and every side plus like The Wire it's unlikely anyone gets a happy ending

I was considering Bad Blood, but was a bit put off by the ratings and reviews.

Sorry, Big Little Lies.
