He's delivering big time and great for him to get a couple of big goals, something he's been roundly criticised for. I've been critical of him, like many others have, but I tip my hat to him these past couple of weeks, he's been top class.

He was absolutely shocking earlier in the year, still has some horrible moments, but it doesn't matter if he scores.

He was bought to score and that makes everything ok.

Fair play to him, he looks a new man. Would definitely keep this lukaku around

From one angle for his first goal it actually looks like Thiago Silva is fouling him with the sliding, but his leg just bounces of Lukaku's shin without him even feeling the impact. Force of nature when he's on full speed, so ridiculously strong

To be honest I think Thiago is lucky there as if Lukaku goes down he’s surely denied a clear goal scoring moment and it’s a pen and a red.
I mean Lukaku does the right thing of if in doubt and you think you can score then keep going but yeah if he goes down then surely Thiago is walking.

Had more goals per minute than salah even before tonight.. Is the view still to sell him for 20m if we can even get it ?
He can't do anything else than score goals though. Any midtable striker can do that right?:) And who cares about goals in football, you need to have a good touch otherwise you're shite.

Some of the guys in this thread even claim they have better technique than him.

It's a genuine attempt to play the ball and it's in the box, so it's only a yellow under the law changed a couple of seasons ago.

I have to admit I was a massive critic of him BUT I always said Rom would only score if the ball was in front of him.

BUT can I give the guy the biggest applause available because that man has surely changed himself, if not fully but definitely. I am so happy for him because clearly he has raised his game & stepped up & if not for his brilliant goals then who knows what would be of us.

He’s clearly full of confidence now & someone we can depend on in front of goals.
Well done big man you deserve the praise.

Fair play to him. Has had a lot of criticism this season. However, he's really stepped it up of late, especially in time of need. Massive performance tonight.

Also if he meant to celebrate in front of Di Maria then he's a legend!

That moment when Lukaku went beast mode and broke through PSG high-press was epic. Then he gave the ball way with a dreadful pass.
He was brilliant once again tonight.

Have always been critical of his ability but fair play to him for turning it around. 6 goals in three and he is looking leaner and a lot more confident. Great stuff!

I'm going to change my vote in the sanchez / lukaku get rid thread now. He has stepped up big time. His touch is still appalling but he's a brilliant option to have in the squad.

We need to just unleash him in the box. Don't give him too much involvement in the build up, let him take very few touches in the build up and just let him receive it around the box. That's his game. Kind of like Icardi

Right he'll never have the best touch or the greatest technique, but he shown how vital he can be?
He isn't as clumsy as Fellaini but even if he was he is so effective.

I think he is one of our most likable players but I've notbeen his biggest fan on the field, however he is good at what he does and not many others on the game can do that.

Scored some huge and very good goals recently. So glad he's looking the business again.

Who moves out right when Martial gets back? Is it Rashford given Rom’s current form?

What a performance and some thought he only score against average teams! Hope he kicks on from this. Well played man!

He always seems to do better in the second half of a season. Did that a lot with Everton if I recall. He’s a conundrum in whether we keep him or not because he’s really risen under OGS but doesn’t fit in how we really want to play.

I would imagine they will swap through the game and depending on the opposition.

Though if we wanted to keep playing a similar two up front shape then you could absolutely justify keeping Martial benched in favour of Lukaku & Rashford. Which says a lot about how well Lukaku has done in the last few weeks.

There have been times in these 2 seasons with the club when(putting aside all talk around his technique) he has shown true leadership ability and outstanding character. Makes it strange to see the times when he comes off as listless, it must be confidence.

Rom is a great guy, tremendously likeable.
He just needs to put it together for an entire season now. Too many times when he's off form. Of course being out of form is fine but too many of those times. He then goes on a great run and you're left wondering how he can be such a contrast.

A lean Lukaku definitely does fit in. Everton played some great attacking stuff under Martinez. He however, looked absolutely huge this season, and fans' suspicions were confirmed when he said he bulked up in the Summer.

Hat trick of braces?

Very good again tonight and loved the chemistry in the post match interview with Rashers

Neither him or Marcus were great in the hold-up department so couldn't relieve pressure, but Lukaku is on fire in the 18 yard area right now.

The reason we won't get a RW.

Play with 2 strikers & let Martial, Rashford, Lukaku, Greenwood all compete for 2 positions.

We get a RW then players like him or Rashford or Martial will end up being on the bench when they don't deserve to be.

Massive for us tonight and likely got back his spot in the starting 11. Rashford and him to switch positions between No.9 and right forward when Martial comes back. Lukaku despite being underwhelming for parts of this season, is our main scorer. He is lethal and contributed so much in the last 3 games.

He's not a selfish striker which is quite rare. He actually celebrates other people's goals more than his own. He comes off as very respectable in interviews.
Yeah, I think that's why he'll stick around for a few years, doesn't seem the type to immediately complain if he's sometimes a bench option when Martial and Rashford are in better form, and the 3 of them and a creative RW/right sided attacking midfield type can all rotate as a front 3, with Lingard and the youth backing them up.

Also he's a great option for the last 30 minutes of games off the bench and a passable RW who seems to sometimes give fullbacks problem when he's not asked to track back.

If he leaves, it will be because all 3 of Rashford, Martial and Greenwood have surpassed him and stayed healthy and we sign a RW who does the same, which would be great, but all of that happening seems unlikely to happen anytime soon, at which point I guess he'll do a Higuain at Madrid and go score goals elsewhere.

Sure & he is a good young player but he plays differently to Martial, Lukaku Rashford & Greenwood to just come in an take that RW spot. It makes one side of our attack more creative whilst the other side more clinical. That may do well or it may not.

On the other hand -

2 striker formations we have played and Lukaku & Greenwood are left footed strikers with pace and ability to play on the right channels whilst Rashford & Martial can do wonders on the left channel.

4 strikers the first we have had since 99.

If Sancho does come - I don't see him being played as a RW because it effects nearly every other attacker around him - martial will be stuck out wide, Rashford and Lukaku will be competing for one spot never mind Greenwood, Rashford out left isn't all that consistent either etc.

If we play with 2 strikers we could and propably will play with a false nine - and that is the position for a creator something I can see a player like Sancho grow in to - if not then felix.

Have a creator in-between two strikers that operate on the channels at pace - gives every striker an equal ability and chance to be in the starting xi.

Lingard vs Sancho for the false nine position.

352 is my bet for next year.
