Jess Bezos (Amazon guy) is going through the richest divorce in history...no way he'll want to invest as he might only be worth half his $137b after that.

Personally I'd love Jim Ratcliffe to buy us (Britain's wealthiest at a mere £20m). He's a United fan but annoying keeps getting linked to Chelsea
Hes not going to spend a fifth of his fortune buying Utd when he can buy another big team for perhaps a billion. Dont forget you will never get your money back.

They're quoting £2.5b for Chelsea by the way
Are they? Havent seen an actual price quoted for Chelsea. Its still a cheaper option than 4 billion+ for Utd, if we are believing the figures in the press. For £4 billion Chelsea could be bought, New ground built, and plenty of money to buy some of the best players around, plus its in the heart of London.

Yes but they have won the most trophies for English clubs since Abromovich came and are well known now internationally. With the centre of London location as well you can see why Ratcliffe wants to buy.

Still, it’s Chelsea

Look at the state since Roman lost interest. It’ll get worse. They’ll go back to their natural level.

The guy that has been the cause of all this new speculation has just made a video explaining everything he knows about the supposed takeover. Only issue is he's speaking french. I'll embed it into this post and someone can watch it and give us the gist of what he's saying!

But if Ratcliffe buys them he will surely be buying them to get them back to the top and wont let them wither away, otherwise why buy the club?

I’m not sure we should be taking the words of a grown man wearing a Sonic the hedgehog
t-shirt seriously....not that I can understand a word he’s saying.

He's a climate destroyer and a tax evader, probably not as dirty as the Saudi's but like most billionaires he isn't without baggage.

Catch 22, people detest Saudi owners because of the regime that is apparent in the corruption in their countries, but then we have owners on the flip side who are clearly taking profits out of our club and not necessarily reinvesting it back into the football.

So what's more important, the reputation or productivity (through financial expenditure).

Its a lose lose situation.

People would have no problem if Saudi regime was accused of corruption. They're into so much worse stuff than that.

I find it mind boggling that people compare glazers to them. If we go by the 'moral' scale then Glazers are no where near the Saudis.

Agree.

Plus I'd argue that the Glazers have more of a vested interest in seeing the club flourish (if only for the money)
Saudi's may just use us as a political leverage tool or at worse just let us decline as money doesn't really matter to them.

Why do the Saudi's want us and not say, Everton or some other club that they can "build" like City's owners?

We are the world's biggest club(or one of the biggest club, depending). MBS their new owner wants to improve Saudis image throughout the world. Glazers might sell. They've no shortage of cash. We'd be basically a PR vehicle for them like City is for UAE and PSG is for Qatar.

Plus FFP makes it very tough for another City thing to happen.

Come on now, they’re not spending £4b to then go and let the club decline.

Because it is not about football success for Saudis, it is about trying to piggy back on a big global brand to assuage their image to outer world.

The Saudi's will end Man City's domestic domination and will have us operating like the juggernaut that we're. We would compete for the best players in the world and the Saudi's wouldn't tolerate the mediocrity that we've seen for the last 6 years.

From a footballing perspective they would elevate United to a level that we've never seen in our history consistently when it comes to competing with Europes elite.

Tbh, I don't even understand it in French. It's like Man Utd is randomly mentioned @JPRouve ?
Yeah, I'm not convinced about the source since he doesn't know where the interest is supposed to come from the king himself or one of the ministers. His idea is basically that SA want to diversify and become a major touristic destination by 2030, they intend to get publicity through sport like Qatar and UAE did, there is also a local rivalry that they want to win against them.

Thankfully, at this point, there is no real evidence that they do want us.

Hopefully it stays that way!

While there is undoubtedly allure to the prospect of huge investment in the club's infrastructure, especially the stadium, and the prospect of nearly unlimited funds in the transfer market; at what point do you say that you want your club to stand for more than being a teenage boy's FM wet dream, and instead be a pillar of the community? Both local and international. To stand for the values that made this club great. I support Manchester United because my dad supported Manchester United, and his dad did before him. And every step of the way the ethos of the club, and their love for it - now my love - was passed on. I've come to the realisation that I don't need to win trophies at ANY cost. I draw the line at being owned by a violent, totalitarian regime, with untold atrocities on their hands. And even if your ethical concerns don't spread that far; how much glory is there really in winning trophies because you've spunked gazillions of pounds left, right and centre? Where's the achievement? No one respects PSG, no one respects City. The respect the influence they now wield, and the wages they can now pay. But their clubs stand for nothing.

Thanks, but no thanks.

Whats there really to say though? Unless he gets an in depth interview with one of the parties involved I can't see where the follow up is.
