The ironic thing is that in my view this is the hardest Brexit the UK is likely to get outside of a no deal - any renegotiations for an alternative deal will inevitably be much, much softer. Even if there is a 'Brexit' PM they will simply not be able to get a harder Brexit than what is currently on offer.

Not really - they want to remain in the EU - be it if Scotland remains in the UK or if they become independent. So it makes sense for them to vote for remain.
I do not understand the desire for another referendum. How can you trust an electorate who themselves can't agree on what exactly they want?
Its hard to imagine sanity ever returning to our politics at this point. It feels like Brexit has broken the system beyond repair.
I'm not saying I agree with their position, but those 2 positions don't contradict.
Because there is simply no other way out of this. Put May's deal to the people and tell them it's either that or remain. MP's then implement whatever they vote.
I also would be against another referendum - it's unlikely to solve anything and will perhaps make things even worse.

It's gotta be Customs Union or People's Vote or GE. The first two got very close in the indicatives and could perhaps get the House backing if at least Labour whip for them.

It depends on the who's allowed to vote. If the voting age is lowered to 16, or if they allow BN(O) holders to vote, that should be a clear remain victory.
A bit like conservatism and liberalism in America. Everything from here on will be divided along brexit lines. If we do end up leaving, I will never vote for someone that wanted us to leave, regardless of other policies. Rather not participate.
The problem is, if you have another referendum and leave wins again with a majority of 49 - 51, then MP's and remainers would complain again that it was too close and there needs to be a more decisive outcome, and calls for another vote would appear.
Plus, shouldn't a confirmatory vote be "Do you agree with this deal - Yes/No" not "Do you agree with this deal - Yes/Remain" thats not a confirmatory vote, is it?
My way forward:
- Agree 2 year extension of Article 50 with EU
- Set up Royal Commission to investigate and provide impartial advice to the public on the implications of Brexit, in its various forms, to deliver report in 12 months time
- Two stage referendum process (on one ballot paper) in 18 months time:
...- Q1: Pass Withdrawal Agreement or Remain in EU.
...- Q2: If Withdrawal Agreement passed, pass current Political Declaration or Norway+.
- Parliament agrees to implement result of the referendum.
Absolutely. All trust is smashed and it's way more adversorial now- ie remoaners, Brexiteers are racists etc...Sad that it's driven a big wedge between my mother and her partner and the wife and I.
The choice is pretty stark now. No deal crash out on 12 April, or big extension to A50 and decent chance Brexit never happens.
