Another crap season, followed by the usual promised sponsor appeasing trolley dash.

Not a lot will change until we have a proper plan, and back it up when we're actually doing well.
Fully agree. We get this fluff every year (and twice as much of it on years where we miss out on top 4). Nothing ever changes. Trapped in a ludicrously expensive cycle of mediocrity.

So, since Sanchez is earning £350k per week, and since most of our players are performing better than him, then they deserve the same wage as him?
They have the right to ask for whatever they want if that's the standard of the salary in the club. You can't blame them. You put yourself in such position and have to deal with it.

We have been giving out golden contracts to everyone since SAF left. I'm trying to be optimistic here, and hoping that we have stopped(someone has stopped Woodward/Matt Judge) handing out golden tickets.

We need at least 3 starting players and possibly as much as 3 squad players.
And any of SAF older players can feck aff this summer too.

To be honest it's not hard to see all of those outs happening, the only difficult one is Sanchez due to his wages. Valencia, Herrera and Mata are all out of contract, Bailly will have takers and we'll probably finally free poor Darmian for a few million. Rojo is also listed as being off in one of those briefs at least and again we'll probably find a buyer for him at a cut down price.

The thing is whether we can get the players we need in, we don't need to buy 7 to replace the 7 outs but I think we need at least 5, a CB, RB, 2 CM's and a forward.

We can compensate most of the fringe players going with the likes of Chong,Garner,Greenwood and Gomes as their replacements.
But we definitely need alteast 3 class first teamers brought in this summer.I mean real class.

Never thought that we would get rid of the three amigos at the same time. Don't mind Herrera and Mata leaving but we should really do our best to keep De Gea. People are quick to forget how important he is, now that he's had a season below everybody's expectations.

Edit: Well, I'd want Herrera to stay too, but if the rumors about him and PSG are true then we could always improve on him too.
feck De Gea off, he ain't 350k a week, he used to be but not now. He wants to leave anyway, he has for years.

These youngsters aren't ready at all. That's my fear though. As I said, basically another LVG second season.

I don't see how 3 will be enough, even if you are content with Smalling still starting next season we can't go into the season with Young, Matic and Lingard starting and now it looks like we must replace Herrera and none of the squad CM's are good enough to be starters.

Fans aren't stupid, they know we just do this sort of stuff when we're forced to, only out of fear that the sponsors will stop throwing money at us for been so mediocre.

We run the risk of needing to buy a host of top players, in a transfer window where a lot of top clubs are going to do more business than usual, us quite likely without CL, and the selling clubs knowing we're desperate, again, just spin the wheel again and hope for the best, that seems to be our business plan.

Yes great job this offload our best player in DDG and let Herrera leave on a free, keep Young, Jones and Rojo.
I was thinking that too but Stone did say this at the end of the article:
Although there has been no agreement on the former Atletico Madrid man's personal terms, United remain confident of negotiations eventually reaching a successful conclusion.
So fingers crossed on the DDG front.

Would be absolutely incredible to pull that off. But in reality it's just a brief from Ed after another crap result.

Well if Ed Woodward is confident of something happening, then I see no reason at all for people to doubt it.

De Gea is probably already looking forward to playing with our new look defence of Koulibaly and Varane.

Part of the reason Pogba stinks the place when he's playing shite is because there's no substitutes that can play his role. Maybe some competition can be useful for Paul too?
A fair point but realistically Pogba would still play every game and Tielemans isn't at all flexible. We couldn't play the 2 together. Unless we tried him as a number 10 behind 2 strikers maybe. Not sure how he'd do in that role. Honestly, I think he just brings the same problems as Mata. He doesn't have the fitness levels to press at the levels our team requires.

 So that's about £500M spent and about £5M in.........very realistic.
I would not be suprised if the spending pushed 300m. I would also not be suprised if we spend nothing. If we spend it will be ALOT, one extreme or the other.

Nothing to base it on but a hunch that the business side of things is becoming quiet due to our current state. The 'board' are willing to spend now to try raise our profile back up and not be left behind by the other big european clubs.

Now as far as that list goes. Take off one of the centrebacks and i do not think its that far fetched. Could be done for somewhere between 300-350m. Theb recoup as much as possible in outgoing players fees and wages saved.

You have to consider that more players might leave and that wages will be freed which is a big expense. Alexis im looking at you.

5 years, I can see why he'd take that offer then. We need to be aggressive this window, I'm so fecking sick of watching Liverpool and City compete for the highest honours, it should be us. No excuses from the board, we shouldn't take no for an answer for our priority signings but most importantly we need to sign players who're actually better than the players they're replacing who can come in and immediately make an impact.

If we purchase poorly again that's curtains for us for a few seasons because of the amount of work we'd have to put in to put together a competitive starting eleven (not to mention probable outgoings ala Pogba/DDG). I don't care if we don't sign Varane and Saul just sign some actual quality for a change, it's not hard to improve on certain positions within the team. We barely spent anything last summer, relative to our usual spends, so I'm expecting a big summer.

So apparently not even going to try for De Ligt?
We probably have and maybe we still are trying. Could just be that he's already agreed to join another club. Don't believe every rumour that's posted in here. There is a lot going on that we don't know about.

Chance to play at Spurs new ground at least once a season?
Maybe offer him the Pogba status? Only need a couple of good games per season and we will make excuses for playing bad the entire season

Given that we have spent obscene amounts of money since Fergie retired, especially in Mourinho’s reign; I really don’t get the constant whining by the mewling quims in this thread. Woody this, Woody that, Woody won’t buy the players we need....blah, blah, blah. He’s bought about every player his managers have wanted, until finally last summer he pulled the plug on potential outgoing deals for Martial and Pogba; and huge money spent on Alderweireld or Maguire. And thank fecking god he did.

Honestly, some of the posts on this forum are just so tiresome. They read like spoiled little kids, who should frankly feck off to twitter and spout their faux rage there.

When we don’t get linked with players, people froth at the mouth. When the club briefs the media saying what our targets are, people froth at the mouth. When we spend money on players people say give youth a chance, we overspent! If we don’t spend huge money, people go nuts claiming lack of investment.

This forum is filling up with armchair experts who just talk an endless stream of bollocks. It’s becoming insufferable. I can’t wait until this summer is over. Transfer threads used to be fun. Now it’s just the same tired cliches about Woody. None of them are even funny or clever. They just make you look like idiots.
