There really is only one way for wolves to put this right now. Have to win the "first* side to win in the league at Anfield this season cup"

*hopefully second after Chelsea go there and pull off a 0-3 shock with Henderson slipping for the vital second following a Van Dijk own goal.
:lol::lol:

Yeah, I don't get why it looks embarrassing at all. He would have celebrated that way regardless of the result or the match.

Plus Wolves gets some good exposure: twitter.com/WWE/status/1112021735736573953

The salt from here is understandable. But they've had an outstanding season.

Hopefully they don't regress the way Burnley did this season, next season.
They've got far more quality than Burnley did, can't see them going the same way.

If anything I can see them trying to push on and the objective being to become the clear 'best of the rest' in the league, almost trying to open up a top 7 as opposed to a top six. Would be surprised if they didn't spend good money.

I think they can struggle playing in europe as well. Still they should stay up no doubt. Although some drop in form and things can go bad fast. It is not a lot of points seperating 7-17 really and a few more wins or a bad run can change a lot.

They still got a long way to go. Lots of areas they could try to improve. Still 3-6 is not too impressive right now.

They're playing for nothing in the league basically, why wouldn't they want to do better against United than Burnley? They had 5 days between the United game and the Semi, there was no need to rest anyone against United, regardless of what happened today.
The resting of players was more to do with the international call ups then anything else, Jimenez didn't arrive back until the Thursday night with a small squad like ours that causes problems.

Sure, but they will have a season in the league under their belt and if they can sign well I definitely feel they can cement themselves nicely next season. Need to fix their dodgy record against the teams outside the top six though.

They have had a great season and are very good to watch with a manager destined for big things . No reason why they can't keep improving

Sometimes the second season can be harder when expectations go up. They have had a lot of momentum this season which have helped them.

I know Leicester won it the second season though so who knows, but they did struggle a lot the first season.

I hope Wolves bust a gut trying to secure 7th for the remainder of the season only for Watford to win the Cup and qualify for Europa instead, a week after the last game of the season.

True. I guess we'll see.

I think the expectations were always .. somewhat high with the Wolves team? Certainly higher than most promoted sides, probably the highest I've ever seen for any promoted side.

It took them a little while to get to grips with that but they've got steadily stronger as the season has gone on I feel. I stress again though they badly need to sort out that record vs the teams outside of the top six, being good in the big games gets you the plaudits and is nice, but you need to make sure you're consistently beating the rest first.

Amazed at the bitterness towards them. Play good football and are pretty likeable. Their style of play is suited to playing bigger teams. They weren't even that good against United midweek compared to their performances v other big sides this season.
I'm not amazed by it. People take everything so personally. "They beat us twice and now they're my enemy" is a typical mentality these days. Don't know what's wrong with respecting how well Wolves are playing these days. They're an excellent team.

They can also get even by getting Arsenal and hopefully Liverpool again.

The Jimenez mask celebration at 2-0 looks very very embarrassing now.
It would have been embarrassing if he would have messed up later and cost them the match, or something along those lines. But nothing of the sort happened. He was one of their best players, and as usual ran his socks off.

The celebration was all in good fun and not meant to taunt anyone. How some can decry Jimenez, who's always been a classy professional, and instead laud Troy Deeney, a bellend of the worst sort, for "telling like it is" and calling Jimenez a loser is beyond me.

They seem to have quality in almost every position. Quality midfield and centre backs. Coady is comfortable on the ball while Bolly is a very reliable. Midfield is fully functional. Then they carry major threat up front with Jiminez and Jotta. If they made a couple of shrewd signings and keep everyone at their current level, next season they’ll be competing for top four I have little doubt.

ummmm no. Like actually not a chance:lol:

City, Liverpool,Chelsea,United and then there is Spurs and Arsenal. All these teams will make more and better signings then Wolves ever could.

They will fight for places 7-10 again.

So when do you all reckon they will implode? I heard they lost over 60M in their promotion season and then add the money they spent o Jimenez and some other signings they easily would be over 100M in debt. They don't have a worldwide fan base and won't be getting into CL ever besides maybe a few Europa League appearances.

How will the club keep this up without self imploding.

Hopefully soon.. their are very easy to dislike and the fans seem to think they are a sleeping giant which they definitely aren’t!

I don't. In fact, its pathetic that United or any fans are bitter an opponent didn't just roll over. Especially in the case where if the United players showed half the desire and focus of either Wolves in both games or Watford - despite the result - at home, theyd have been comfortable wins. Same sort of fan entitlement that some of our players have.

If their owners pulled out they could be in trouble. If they don't there's no reason why they can't continue to make loss after loss, they're extremely wealthy - https://www.expressandstar.com/news...profits-turnover-and-assets-for-wolves-owner/

It is very good for the league to have teams like this. They are a breath of fresh air in comparison to the likes of Stoke and West Brom. I don't see why any United fan would grudge them because they happened to beat us fair and square twice. Can't blame them, we need to get our act together.

Let's see how they do next season. So many teams fail to build on a good season and collapse spectacularly the next, so we have to wait and see how they do.

Technically, Wolves have a very good record against Top 6 and bad record against lower table teams. If the latter had been better, they could have pushed Chelsea or us for 6th, as neither of us have been very good this season.

The hate in here for Wolves is weird. What unlikeable players do they have and why are we supposed to not like them. They have done us lots of favors this season taking points off our fellow top 4 teams...and may even kill Liverpools title hopes in final matchday. Not their fault we suck and couldn't beat them twice in a row.

Im more angered at the fact City will win the Fa cup with the best team they will play being 10th place , that is absolutely ridiculous considering the draws we got. Wolves and United essentially took out all the top teams while City played fodder

Eh, Moutinho a year older and they're 12th in the Prem in goals this year. They're a solid team but I don't see them suddenly scoring 65 goals next year with their style and with 3 at the back.

Hopefully they completely give up in the league now so se can beat them away :D ;)
Quite the opposite probably - if they finish 7th and City win the FA Cup they'll still get European football next year, whereas if they went to the final they could've gone all in on that and rest a few players in the league.

They're not even close to top 4. Just because their style worked vs big teams doesn't mean they're quality everywhere. Where was this quality against the bottom 6 teams?

They're playing like a newly promoted team, going for it against teams that most are happy to park the bus and go for a draw against. That won't work next season.

Their summer will be huge but I don't mind them at all. I'd far rather a name like Wolves than a non entity like Hull or Burnley.

I was at the league game at Wolves and it did appear the fans were well up for it. Like they would rather beat us than win the semi final. The players seen to raise their game against us like we are still the best team in the country. It maybe a weird feeling thread statement , but all I can say is I'm glad they lost yesterday. Watch them get hammered at Anfield and join in with their title celebrations.
I remember When they beat us in the Arsenals invincible season, when Kenny Miller got the winner, then were shit for the rest of the season. Feck them wankers!

My god there is a lot of sour grapes on here.
Wolves, how dare they beat Utd, how dare they play good football and their midfield totally outclass Utd, how dare they nullify the god that is Pogba(in some supporters eyes), how fecking dare they!
I’ve always liked Wolves since the sixties with Dereck Dougan and co a proper footballing club with a decent stadium,
Actually I liked them as a kid must be the gold shirts, always thought it a great kit.

A shame they got knocked out, like someone else said i always want the club who knocks Utd out of any competition to go on and win it. Unless it’s the scousers or Spurs and indeed the bitters.

Wolves game is suited to play against team that attacks. They have good defensive structure and lot of players with very good pace and skill. Both of their midfielders can pick pass from deep. It's a very good template to play vs strong teams who leaves lot of space behind. Problem is playing against teams which are equal or worse than Wolves.

This is something they should work on next season. I think they did really well for their first season back in PL. Top 10 finish and cup semi finals.

If wolves is your second team, then I'm sorry they lost. But everyone is different. I have my own reasons why I hate wolves. You may have difficulty understanding that. I guess like I have difficulty understanding how some Utd fans are not bothered if Liverpool win the league. This is football. Their are no right and wrong answers just opinions.

Sour grapes etc, bet most of these people saying this encounter one or two Wolves fans in their entire life, not every single day like some of us.

It’s a shame because I actually like Wolves as a club but their fans are something else. For years I’ve been accused of being a ‘glory hunter’ despite going to more United games in a single season than most Wolves fans I know have been to Molineux in their lives, despite living merely a few miles away. Their attendences were awful for years until a couple of years back, funny how they’re selling out Wembley now after assembling a good team dodgily and an injection of foreign cash. They’ve become everything they always hated and prided themselves on not being. Yes they play some nice stuff but let’s not forget how they got here.

Christ on a bike! I went to bed last night and didn't expect Wolves to bottle it after leading 2-0. Shame cause they would have realistically caused more trouble to City than Watford. Simply no chance for Watford. Does this mean Watford qualify for Europa League now?

Don't think so, think they changed it so you have to win the FA Cup to qualify. If City wins it then 7th place gets Europa.

So where do that extra place go to? Because the old rule was winner of League Cup and the two finalists of FA Cup qualify for Europa League. It would be interesting to see how this Wolves team does in Europe.
