Probably the wrong phrase to use, either way, no chance on this earth I'd pay him £300k a week.
It seems ridiculous yeah, but he's one of our most reliable players already, so I wouldn't blame him for trying (given how much we pay others)

Why? He's one of the most gifted young talents out there. Look at his records and big game goals so far and then go look at his age. He's still so raw.
Because he's been nowhere near good enough to warrant that kind of money. This is the first season he's hit double figures in the league, £300k is the sort of contract you give a 25-30 goal a season striker at the top of their game, not a 21 year old who still has it all to prove.

I'm not saying we should cut our losses, not at all.
But what happens with his next renewal? £400k? £450k?

£300k per week seems like far too much for a 21 year old.

Rooney got that when he was at the club for 10 years...

If he is on £75k per week now, surely £150-200k per week is more than reasonable, with the caveat that if he pushes on and improves he will get a renewal to say £200k-300k within the next 2/3 years.

It's an insane amount but I do think Rashford is going to be amazing in a couple of seasons, next season could be his 'arrival' if you like. I just hope to god we have the structure to pay these wages and have room for more otherwise we're going to be stuck with some very average players and unable to rebuild for a very long time.

Well it doesn't really work like that.

First of all, it's not uncommon to sign on again on the same salary and throw some bonuses in there for leading goalscorer or a league title etc. if the player already knows he's the one of the highest paid players at the club.

Secondly, where else is he going to get £450k a week? A club would have to pay us Neymar money to sign him also.

We'll pay him the going market rate for a striker of his ability as long as he has the stats to prove he is. Nothing wrong with that.

Lukaku is on £200k+ per week.
Martial is on £200k+ per week.
Lingard is on£100k+ per week.
Shaw is on £150k+ per week.
And then we got Sanchez.

There is a reason why less reputable newspapers can come with these claims of insane wages.
I think he will sign a similar contract to Martial, who i think might be earning closer to £250k per week.

I honestly don't understand eagerness of some of the posters to believe every little nonsense published about our players wages yes our management has made some big mistakes post Sir Alex retirement but even they are not moronic enough to offer these wages they certainly understand concept of demand and supply before anyone bring Sanchez's wages.

Isn't that the issue being discussed, 300k is not the going rate for a player of his ability.

No way is our kid getting close to 300k a week just yet. The mirror have just added the bullshit tax on for us as usual.

More believable that Juve will likely pick up another bargain this summer though.

If we pay bang average players the same wages as Messi and Ronaldo we might as well pack in the club.
Yeah but right now no one is even close to what Messi and Ronaldo earns.

We all love United
I'll be happy with Saul and Bruno Fernandes. Not sure how much will both cost altogether, but they will push us up a level or two

Saul only became a relevant 'target' when some obscure reports linked him to us last week. Now he's supposedly one of our 'top targets'.
They,Journo's, dont have a clue.Building on from one rubbish rumour to the next to gain clinks.

Clusterfeck of a club we are... no way we get Saul. We'll buy Rice at an inflated amount and he'll be shite. Our midfield will be truly atrocious next season. All for penny pinching with Herrera. And of course all this shite has to come out in the week leading up to our biggest game of the season. Fecking cnuts the lot of them.

What sort of midfielder is Saul?

Is he better than the likes of Rodri & Partey?
From what I've seen he offers almost the same qualities as Herrera but is better than Herrera. He's good at driving forward with the ball, has great stamina, covers the ground pretty well and is a better passer and dribbler. He's not a David Silva type midfielder, not very creative or goal scoring or as I said, a better version of Herrera.

If we are looking at Saul and a DM, we better get the best out of Pogba or whoever plays the most advanced CM because there won't be much creativity or goals from that midfield, other than from the #10

We should be looking at Rodri instead of Saul IMO and get someone who is creative and have a good work rate. We need more than one creative outlet from the midfield. Get a WC CB, a mobile ball playing DM and a hard working #8 like Fekir or Eriksen. Saul plus Rice would be way too defensive

Bruno Fernandes, maybe?

Reading about him, he looks like the sort of midfielder we are crying out for or what we hoped Pogba would be doing consistently for us.

Could be a blessing losing Herrera and adding two quality midfielders. I hope we stay clear of Rice though

I don't think having a whole new midfield with three players from three different leagues playing together for the first time will be the answer, but if Pogba really wants to leave then be done really have a choice.
Even then, Rice and Bruno have had 1-2 good seasons, I would rather we invest in someone who is much more of a proven quality, especially if we lose Pogba as he's the only source of creativity in our team. Expecting Bruno to come in and be the main man is going to backfire on us. If Pogba leaves, get a top #10

Also I know people love Saul but he's gonna cost upwards of 100 million and that is if he wants to leave Atletico. His release clause is 130 mill and has 7/8 years left on his contract. He's not worth that kind of money IMO. He is a better version of Herrera and offers very little output in terms of goals or assists. When we paid 90 mill for Pogba, he could do everything. Saul isn't worth the 100-120 million

No way are we signing Saul . The guy has 150 million euros release clause and with Rhodri already unsettled and Lucas Hernandez leaving . I doubt Atletico will play ball unless we are paying his release clause which we will not .

The coming summer transfer window will be crazy with replacements for both Fellaini and Herrera needed . It's possible we might end up signing Bruno Fernandes and Declan Rice which will be a big risk .

Herrera leaving might turn out to be a good thing. Could force the club to sign a CM, which I dont reckon we would have signed otherwise. And lets be honest Herrera wasnt all that.

It also eats into our summer war chest which was likely assigned before this shit show.
