my guy, you even bolded what I quoted and replied to, you know, the part about Pogba not “producing” in big games regularly. that’s why I showed him pogba’s recent end product.
Yeah and I showed how your stats are flawed and don't prove you're right actually.

Getting tired of this by now.

Is it just me that gets annoyed by the way Pogba hug and gets all giddy when he greets the so called top stars of the barcelona opponent players?

Both before and after the game Pogba radiates some kind of "I'm too gifted for man united" attitude.

I mean, it's all right to be friendly with your opponents, but Pogba clearly is an individualist that sets himself above his team. I'm starting to think the old manager was onto something about Pogba.

That grim on Pogbas face when he approaches the Barcelona stars like Messi is radiating; we-belong-together-because-we-are-super-gifted.

Pogba tries a trick or two during the game, but manages to produce nothing to be proud of. He needs a shrink. Never at any point he gets 10% close to the fighting team spirit of McTominay, Fred, Shaw, Smalling, Young, Lindelov, Rashford. Allright, not all these mentioned did great, but at least they tried for their TEAM. None of these showed the overeagerness to bond with the barcelona stars before and after the game like pogba either.

No you didn’t. You have done nothing but skip what I ask you, muddy the waters, and somehow turn a conversation about productivity into vague “impact” and when told you can impact without necessarily produce, you reached out for the green smiley crutch and attempted to cause more confusion. you getting tired means nothing to me.

You really had no clue from the start what you were discussing and still have no clue and just repeating what you're memorizing so this post is hardly surprising for me.

how many times are we going to do this dance old man? I replied to someone questioning Pogba’s productivity in big games with his end product in big games since 17/18. You added his first season totals and the numbers didn’t look as good, to which you were told football is not static and his numbers for the past two seasons show that narrative is not applicable any longer, then you moved the argument to does well against xyz but not abc, and when told to compare his numbers to his peers from the same supposed big teams you caught your selective readingitis and then somehow you freaked it into talking about “impact”. Now I’m the one who’s bored.

Whats up with you accusing posters of 'repeating what they're memorizing'? You said the same to me word for word in the Ashley Young thread. Strange!

Played pretty solid but not good enough for what is expected of him. An improvement compared to the last games but I really cannot decide for myself if he is worth the hype and money or if it might be better to take Real's cash.
To all posters with the same mentality, it is nothing off Pogba's back if he stays or leaves. Keep wasting your time pondering about it.

But my conversation wasn’t with you?! you interjected yourself in an exchange I was having with someone else and we were talking about productivity, for which I pulled his numbers since 17/18 to show that he has been producing in these games since then thus making that narrative non applicable. Now it’s “impact”, when most sensible people will tell you impact cannot be measured by these stats alone.

Pogba is the least of this team’s worries. Compare him to his peers from the same supposed big teams and I’d hazard a guess their numbers would be lacking to his.
If you pay £90m for a player I would damn well expect him to be the best player in your team game in, game out, not to play well occasionally but disappear for weeks at a time. Last night he was totally outplayed by Fred and McTom. He hasn't got the attitude or apparaently desire to push on and take the game by the scruff of the neck. A major disappointment in my opinion.

this is such a dumb line of thinking in my opinion. just because you paid x amount for a player it doesn't mean he will be man of the match every single game. time and again, he has performed. players have drops in form you know, moreover, he didn't have a bad game yesterday.

also, this isn't the 90s. £90M is currently a bargain for somebody of Pogba's ability.

I watched the game again this morning with a friend of mine who hadn't seen the game yet and we had a discussion near the end of the game that was along the lines of "he wasn't good and he wasn't bad... He was just.. Nothing.." He made an excellent point that with the level that Fred and McTominay were playing at then it is extra disappointing that Pogba wasn't able to fully thrive and genuinely worrying if he needs to now further raise his level and questioned whether he has it in him to do that.

It was a pretty poignant observation and one I found interesting. The platform is there when the rest of midfield is playing really well, he needs to raise onto that platform that was provided by Fred and Scott McT.

Clearly there is something behind the scenes going on with Pogba, either he simply wants to leave or his infamous agent using real for a bumper paycheck for both of them, and in this process putting united at ransom. United should bite the bullet and sell him this summer and vow to never deal with Raiola again. No player should consider ever himself bigger than the club, be it Pogba or De Gea. United under Sir Alex, didn't even tolerate Beckham and came close to selling Rooney, who both were far more influential players for united than Pogba will ever be.

Honestly he’s not worth what we paid for him, it’s all posing and strutting about with him, and I’m in complete agreement with you, I wouldn’t be surprised if he went into the Barcelona dressing room afterwards and offer to scrub Messi’s back in the shower (or worse).
Nobody in their right mind would want to buy this overhyped waste of a shirt, which is a shame.

OK, so we shouldn't expect him to play well because of his price tag...
But, for his ability, we should fecking damn well expect him to play well

"Disciplined performance" ffs

He's supposed to be the bridge between the midfield and the attackers.
One minute it's the attackers fault for not been in better positions, the next it's because he put in a disciplined performance, even though you lot were saying Mourinho put the shackles on him and needed to free him.

The excuses are an absolute crock of shit for this guy.
Fact is, he has been very underwhelming for the last 3 seasons! He's been more miss than hit and this is coming from someone who was on the guy's side until after the Southampton game at the start of the season

I just know he'll put in another mediocre performance tomorrow evening and some in this thread will say it's because Solskjaer played him when he needed to be rested.

I asked a question the other day... If Paul Scholes put in these type of performances, on a consistent basis throughout his career at United, what would your opinion of him be?

Pogba makes around $382,866 per week. ------- Don't know how accurate is this source, but ok, let say 300K a week. This Pogba should know he should put in a consistent performance given he milk the money out of United weekly like this.

Sir Alex ship him out to Juventus. Bravo to Sir Alex.
Then summer 2016, United resign him back. Keep in mind, Mourinho did say he did not want to sign Pogba in summer 2016, it was Man United club decision (commercial reason or whatever). I trust Mourinho when he said he did not want to sign Pogba, given Mourinho mouth, who always speak straight out as it is.

I bet that bald head Ed Woodward has something to do with resign Pogba.
There: [ In August 2016, Woodward secured the transfer of Paul Pogba for a record breaking fee of €105 million, ]

Ship him out please. Sir Alex ship him out in the past, Ole, just do it. Get the money and buy someone else who actually want to play for United.

Jonathan Wilson nailed his flaws in the Second Captain podcast yesterday.

Someone who lacks the instinctive positional sense to play in a deep position and the deftness you need to play just behind the strikers. So every time you watch him you end up thinking if he might be better off playing in a different area of the pitch to the one he's playing in. No matter where he plays. Obviously, he's very skilful and a terrific athlete so will bully plenty of weak teams but will always be found out in our tougher fixtures, when you need your best players to make the difference.

The way he's gone off the boil after looking so good in his first few games under Ole is being spun as him losing faith in he manager, or the honeymoon being over. I think it's much more simple than that. We're not playing cannon fodder any more.

I'm coming round to the idea that selling him to Madrid for huge money would be a good deal for us.

We've been trying for the past 3 seasons to bring in midfielders to get the best out of Pogba and when the midfielders do their work (Like say McT and Fred), he bottles it. It's really frustrating watching him turn up when he feels like it. If you have this huge potential and you only show it for a couple of games then you are by no means worldclass and you do not deserve to be in that starting lineup. We beat PSG without him yet failed to win against Arsenal/Wolves. Against Barca, 0 effort to try and create for our forwards. He does not even make those runs to the box that he did when first Ole came. This guy's mind is elsewhere.

The top teams can happily double mark him knowing there is no threat from certain players in our team. Until we strike a good balance and have threat on both sides of the pitch players in the middle won’t find space.

It’s no coincidence he plays better when we have only 1 striker as the amc with a free role.

I personally think we need to back to the 4231 we started so well with. Mctominay/Fred/martial/Lingard/pogba/Rashford.

Upgrade the RW and RB and we look much stronger again, it’ll give the midfield boys more room.
Whilst I don't think he was as awful as he was against Wolves, there was so much left be desired after the performance against Barcelona. For a player we broke the transfer record for and someone most here argue is world class, that was not a world class performance. As for the rest of your post, do you not get tired of constantly making formation or tactic excuses for him? The other day, he had Fred and McTominay run their arses off alongside him and we have people bragging about how he created two chances in the entire game. Look at Messi, we kept him quiet for most of the game and he only needed one moment to produce some magic.

Thank you for confirming my sanity.
Pogba is good when he produces goals and assists.
And he doesn't do it when his vanity gets the better of him. Which has been for a long period now.
He don't think he needs to prove himself anymore.
Now, he's just that virus sucking out the team spirit.
He needs a shrink. There's always a risk dealing with narcissistic egos, no matter how talented they are.

Yet again - it's easy to defend against us because you can just sit infront of the back 4 and be narrow, limit the space. Our strikers rarely make smart moves or run in behind defences like Suarez does, so it's difficult to play tight passes in behind. We're limited to getting the ball wide to our fullbacks, but Young especially just makes a complete mess of it.

There's no midfielder in the world that can play world class if the rest of the team isn't up to it.

In the first half where the game was more open he was playing very well, and played some good passes up to Rashford who nearly got in, if it wasn't for Ter Stegen.

By no means am I shouting "oh what a fantastic performance", but he was no worse than anybody else, people coming to this thread to moan and criticise for no reason just because they have a personal problem is what annoys me.

Messi is the greatest player who ever lived, but made 1 chance through clever movement by him and Suarez. It just shows it was a tightly contested match.

I wouldn't mind selling him to Madrid either, but I don't want any of their players in exchanged.

Stop changing the narrative!!

I asked you if Scholes was constantly putting in 5/10 and 6/10 performances, during his career here, what would people's impressions of him be?

1 goal and 2 assists in his last 11 games... That is an absolute joke! There is no excuse for that!

And before someone chimes in with the whole, "You're such a hater, you hater" ask why I'm spending my time in this thread and not in with the other threads, talking about the rest of the slobs?

Scholes was obviously an incredible midfielder but I think when comparing his impact to Pogba you also have to consider the difference in the players both were playing alongside. Scholes had Beckham, Giggs, Keane, Ronaldo, RVN, Cole, Yorke, OGS running around him. Pogba has players like Lukaku, Lingard, Mata, Rashford, McTomminay and Fred.

Scholes spent like +20 years at United. He had his fair share of terrible performances. you’re camping the Pogba thread with this much energy and vitriol when the guy didn’t even have a bad game, talking about Scholes. rest.

That wasn't the excuse when Mourinho was here...
It was apparently his fault, he held Pogba back and had him in shackles, not playing him in his correct role and never gave him freedom.

So it's now the other players' fault he's been massively underwhelming since he came back in 2016?
When do we start blaming Solskjaer?

More and more excuses, just to avoid the fact he has been more miss than hit since he came back and it's purely down to him! No one else!

That's why De Gea and Herrera won the player of the year awards is it?
Performed better than Juventus seasons which persuade the club to spend the money they did. Improved individually whilst our fans called him waste of money.

https://www.google.com/amp/s/metro....-manchester-united-than-juventus-6384895/amp/

https://www.google.com/amp/s/amp.re...36bp/pogbas_stats_for_united_vs_for_juventus/

Won the best player award for the EL campaign. If the woodworks was kinder and Ibra converted his chances his first year will have gained more recognition. And currently on his best season statiscally.

Were you on here when basically everyone was laughing in the RAWK thread about Liverpool fans saying "if the woodwork was kinder, we'd be way up the league table" and "If we didn't hit the woodwork so many times, we'd be top?"

i thought he was decent enough but shown up by others busting a gut, maybe in the Nou Camp he will give a performance worth the circus around him, its him in the shop window in Spain so he might step up. It seems we now have a new breed of 'world class' player who needs world class players around him

Not really, just can't take it seriously when that's mentioned.

Having said that, I do remember that period of that season and I really enjoyed him then. Not so much since.

The excuses are sickening tbh. I've never known anyone, among a majority on here, get such a free ride for, what essentially are, underwhelming performances.

As naive as it sounds at the minute, I'm still hoping to see the good version of Pogba next season more consistently. I don't think we'll sell him this summer and then with Ole building the team from pre-season, adding some new players and with fresh legs and renewed spirits I expect to see something better both as a team and from players individually.

This is a very strange season with the toxic atmosphere in the first months, the managerial change, then the amazing run in every competition and suddenly everything looking bad again. I think this season everyone is being dragged up and down depending on the winds, and since a month or so it's been hard again for everyone to keep showing their best face, so it's difficult to analyze individuals without considering the context.

And the truth is I share some criticism and concerns about the guy, but those three months of him were the best I've seen for a long time from any of our players and I think it's being understimated. Now everything seems a mess, but if there's a little chance to recover those levels of performance I'd put every possible effort to make it happen again, because with Pogba at that level we start every game 1-0 on the score.

So I feel myself on the fence by the moment despite not being happy with certain things in the last month, but I want to see what happens next season before giving a final judgement. If there's the same doubts, noise and division around him that we are seeing now I think it will be time to part ways and move on. I just think it's worth another shot after a fresh start for everyone, before happily allowing one of our best talents to leave, if not the best.

Real Madrid won't be in for Pogba in the summer, they will go for Erikssen as the natural successor to Modric, [80to 90 mill should do it] a proper central midfieler who is an all rounder can play in a two or three, or even further up the pitch, and probably Rabiot will end up as Kroo's successor on a free.

Up top they will probably try and prise Hazard, or a player in that ilk, and then have Vasquez, Arsensio or Isco on the right, with a striker in the young brazillian or Icardi from Inter, allowing them to change fluidly from 4-2-3-1 to 4-3-3, 4-1-2-3 or even 4-1-3-2.

This is something I've been thinking. People are calling Pogba out for his performance, when Messi, potentially the greatest player of all time, played worse in the same match. I watched all of our players individual highlights videos after, he was good.
