a pal is adamant it's 4-4-2, with Jones right back.

Surely it's 4-3-3 with a chance it's Lindelöf at right back?

Call me a pessimist but I see it as 4-0. We bottled both our UCL home ties under Ole and Barca are no PSG.

I see this thread has already started getting 'messy'.... folks talking about Messi's balls; him getting messy:nervous:
and a fellow Cafter going after Holly Willoughby....

I'm here with my glass of wine, ready to get sozzled in the event of a thrashing...

I don’t think it’s such a bad team. I would have Dalot way ahead of Young or Lingard though.

We probably have no chance anyway but let’s go.

This is where I think a fit, no necessarily an in form (whatever that looks like), Sanchez could be of benefit to the team. Playing as the false 9 with Martial and Rashford either side, with Pogba moving ahead when he drops back. Sanchez can still pass and try to unlock a defense. He's like a poor man's Zlatan without the size. He can facilitate the play in the final third, but no more pace or quickness. His mind still works though.
Even mata offers more on the ring wing than Lingard offers anywhere on the pitch. I don’t understand how Lingard is starting over anyone else. It’s fecking bizarre.

4-4-2's probably the least likely out of all of them. But one thing I'm pretty certain about is we'll change formations at least once during the game.

Martial has done feck all compared to Lukaku over the last few weeks. Doesn’t press better than him, isn’t stronger than him and doesn’t cross as well.

This in addition to taking off Lukaku in the last few games where he was one of our best-performing attackers while keeping on a Lingard who was stinking out the place more often than not makes me feel Lukaku has been getting the short end of the stick.

On the Swedish broadcast they talked about Barca’s CL record at home and the last team to beat them was Bayern back in 2013.
Unbeaten records are there to be broken, can not last forever.
    You never know.

Pereira at RWB and Dalot at LWB would at least mean we have threats and delivery down both wings.

I’m not optimistic. I don’t understand Ole’s fascination with Lingard at all.

    I just hope it’s not a hiding.

It’s nice to be back amongst the elite. Just think where we have been this last 5 years and enjoy this evening.

you expected us to beat barca?
No but I expected a home draw which is nothing spectacular in Europe and would be a good result for Barca, too. AND I did expect us to forge one or two sitters with a few shots on target. We shat it, let's be fair. Just like against PSG (which was ridiculous) but were slightly better against Barca.

If we could just get the first goal....

In the meantime, these bastards better not do any early conceding otherwise I hope SAF goes down to the pitch with his hairdryer on max.

Young to keep Messi in his pocket and provide the winning cross as a LB. Sell Shaw extend Ashley for another 3 seasons.

Could have added Jones as well. Current Man Utd's defense is just not good enough for elite football.
It’s not but when we still have clowns like Rojo, Bailly, Young, Darmian anc Valencia in our squad it’s no wonder the likes of Smalling and Jones are starting frequently. We have this urge to make things as difficult as possible with our squad composition.

I'm going to enjoy it. Just want the lads to give their all.
We might not be in this competition next season so we best enjoy.

I reckon we have a solid 20% chance of progressing. If we don't, I'd like to hope it's because of a magical Barcelona display, rather than a tumescent borefest.

So you'd have a guy who has barely featured in centre mid, in a right sided wing back position, and Dalot on his wrong foot in a position he might have played once before?

    Bloody hell man!

Not sure what you saw from Lukaku in the last few games. He hasn’t been performing. Lukaku had his chance in first leg, this time Martial gets his chance.

Mata will have a few better touches and sequences of play compared to Lingard because he's technically superior, however Lingard is the better two-way player on the right side. Has much more pace to close down or to stretch the line. Regardless, having to choose between Lingard and Mata shows the lack of starting XI quality. Like legit quality, not potential.

I was just trying team predictions... impossible.

Went with five at back like you based on West Ham game. No idea of the rest.
I was 100% sure Lukaku will start. Now that is a surprising line up... Hope if we catch them on break or force a mistake by pressing, i hope that chance falks yo Lingard or Martial, as i fear Rashford will miss sitters...

I hate to say this, but an lineup with Martial, Rashford and Lingaard will not bring us the goals needed.

I'll give you the crossing thing ( on his left at least), but Lukaku and Martial press about the same actually, and Lukaku often gets dispossessed in hold up play much more than Martial.
