ever get that feeling of déjà vu?
I remember when people talked about Martial needing a hug and a tap in the back.
I remember when people talked about Martial needing a hug and a tap in the back.
Mourinho has nothing to do with Martial strolling about and not giving a feck. We saw Mourinho cheer the players on countless times of the sidelines and it did nothing for them. A lot these aren't self motivated, they aren't ready for the fight of football at the top level. Unfortunately we seem to hand out contracts like meal tickets, thats the situation here, there is no pressure to perform. You can underperform, get the manager the sack and get a bumper new contract.I think because Mourinho has a track record of losing the dressing room. Most see Ole as a nice guy, however true it may be who knows, but people love narratives.
He never said reality check. He said these are not his players entirely and tried to clean his hands off it.Saying they need a reality check is not really motivating them. Its basically saying, you're not as good as you think you are...Mourinho from memory said the same thing.
So there is no difference. Only difference is that one guy is a club legend, the other is a guy you hated before he joined.
I think we’ll go for 5, with players leaving and what we already need I think that’ll be a good start.Another qoute from Solskjaer.
" I’ve been speaking to the club, we know that we have to be realistic and have a job to be done there’s no quick fix, it’s not like buy seven players and we’re in the right shape, we have to take step by step and there’ll be signings.”
Be surprised if we sign more than 3 players in the summer.
Stop with that kindergarten stuff. He never said reality check. He said these are not his players entirely and tried to clean his hands off it.
Oh and it must be hard for you guys to accept that ole is still doing better this season with mourinho's players than he did
Well given we targeted and failed to secure four signings in each of the last two summers I would have said that anyone expecting much more than that was being a bit unrealistic.Another qoute from Solskjaer.

That would freak me out if this was our only business.I suspect last year's lean spending was because of the previous windows where we spent record money on Pogba and Lukaku. It'd probably bitten off huge part of our future transfer budget.
We'll likely have 100+ mil to spend this window again but that will be about 1-2 decent players (as Ole have said).
My prediction is we sign Maguire for crazy money - 70-80mil and that right back from Palace for another 50m and that will be it.
I’m not saying you’re wrong at all, I agree with you on Martial. I’m just saying most people viewed Mourinho’s decisions with a narrative in mind that he’s wasting potential i.e. Salah, KdB. And that he’s turning everyone against him.Mourinho has nothing to do with Martial strolling about and not giving a feck. It's an insult to compare ole and mourinhos words. Ole is basically saying we need to raise the standard and leading by example. Did anyone forget mourinho's words on L Shaw for eg and show me where ole said something similar?Stop with that kindergarten stuff.
It won't beThat would freak me out if this was our only business.
What age are you? 5?He never said reality check. He said these are not his players entirely and tried to clean his hands off it.

So your response is - you guys are sad -?It's an insult to compare ole and mourinhos words. Ole is basically saying we need to raise the standard and leading by example. Did anyone forget mourinho's words on L Shaw for eg and show me where ole said something similar?
Martial? I suppose at that time the club had lost faith with Mourinho. The football was crap and Martial was actually playing pretty well while this was happening wasn't he? They were planning for the future. I don't remember other examples.Devil's advocate here...
Mourinho apparently wanted shut of certain players, why were some of those players given contract extensions?
I genuinely don't believe Ole gave the thumbs up for Jones and Young to be given contracts.
Anyways, it's all hear say now. Best see what happens over the summer
Mourinho came 2nd last season and unless you have some kind of time machine you have no idea where Mourinho would finish this season. He never said reality check. He said these are not his players entirely and tried to clean his hands off it.
Oh and it must be hard for you guys to accept that ole is still doing better this season with mourinho's players than he did
We might be in danger of dropping out of top 6 tbf. I would lose any lingering hope for the club. That would freak me out if this was our only business.
BingoI suspect last year's lean spending was because of the previous windows where we spent record money on Pogba and Lukaku. It'd probably bitten off huge part of our future transfer budget.
We'll likely be allowed by the Glazers 100+ mil to spend this window again but that will be about 1-2 decent players (as Ole have said).
My prediction is we sign Maguire for crazy money - 70-80mil and that right back from Palace for another 50m and that will be it. Also we'll "try" for Sancho but the price will be too "unrealistic".
Nevermind the Caf, the team will be in trouble if we don't bring at least 4 in, this side is so understacked on genuine quality.Half the Caf transfer muppets want that though.
God help this place if we don’t sign at least 4 players this summer.
There's no time machine but if you think that we'd have been 3 points off top4 with just five games to go then you need to give your head a wobbleMourinho came 2nd last season and unless you have some kind of time machine you have no idea where Mourinho would finish this season.
I can't see it City & Liverpool are clearly the best 2 teams, then Spurs if they can keep hold of Pochettino, we are the next level along with Chelsea and Arsenal. We are 15-20 points better a season than the restWe might be in danger of dropping out of top 6 tbf. I would lose any lingering hope for the club.
Yeah let's expand on a stupidly negative assumption and then keep on making posts on the basis of that. Well done.We might be in danger of dropping out of top 6 tbf. I would lose any lingering hope for the club.
With Mourinho in charge we were 11 points off top 4 by Christmas, judging by that we'd have been over 20 points off by the end of the season.Mourinho came 2nd last season and unless you have some kind of time machine you have no idea where Mourinho would finish this season.
That prediction would never happen, it's baseless. Maguire for £80m ffs people absolutely love being pessimistic, in reality by going off any half reliable source we're looking for attackers, midfielders and defenders, not just two defenders. We might be in danger of dropping out of top 6 tbf. I would lose any lingering hope for the club.

Nailed it.It's about context really. Mourinho was a manager with a track record of publicly criticising and falling out with players from his Madrid and Chelsea days. In fact the negativity he brings was probably the single biggest argument put forward by those who didn't want him here in the first place. So any criticism of United players from him will naturally be viewed differently than it would be coming from Solskjaer, someone whose his time here has been characterised by extreme positivity and modesty.
Mourinho was also doing it a few years into his reign, as opposed to at the start. If Solskjaer was saying this about players he had brought in then people would likely be less positive.
We signed three and Sanchez was the most expensive signing the club has ever made even if it happened in January and we got a couple of crap months out of him for 25m. We also fecked up our wage bill with that transfer. Can't blame us for been suspicious. We only signed 2 players last summer when we were expecting a lot more.
Thats wrong, if Mourinho got what he wanted the team would of been third, the only reason we are three points of is because of Chelsea and Tottenham poor form, and the team would of been 6 to 9 points of the top 2.Also what you are forgetting is the team was lucky to get a result at Burnley,Southampton,West Ham and Watford. With Mourinho in charge we were 11 points off top 4 by Christmas, judging by that we'd have been over 20 points off by the end of the season.

One cant disregard Sanchez from our transfer business last summer just because he arrived a couple of months early.
He was extremely expensive and Mourinho is on record saying that there would be no more offensive recruitments during the summer just after strutting him about piano playing and everything.
That he turned out not performing and made Mourinho start crying for even more players when he already had convinced the board to expand the wage bill in January and take us past City in that regard is on Mourinho and no one else.
Yikes.Thats wrong, if Mourinho got what he wanted the team would of been third, the only reason we are three points of is because of Chelsea and Tottenham poor form, and the team would of been 6 to 9 points of the top 2.Also what you are forgetting is the team was lucky to get a result at Burnley,Southampton,West Ham and Watford.
It was actually four. Sanchez, Fred, Grant and we also brought back Pereira to occupy a place in the squad. Four new squad members of a squad of 25 is a normal turnover. Sanchez and Fred together were ridiculously expensive and my point was that you cant just disregard Sanchez. If we have not gotten him in January there would easily had been room for two or three more signings in the summer. Mourinho chose to get him early, paid over the odds; and its pretty obvious that he knew that the transfer would limit him in the summer. Then. And then he cried about the situation. What 3?
I'd like you to point out where I said it would happen, before you make worthless posts like that. Maybe you should think before replying and consider what happened in the previous summer window. Then remember who is in charge of the club. You could also watch the press conference where Ole states several times that we aren't looking at massive changes over the summer and has previously stated there would be "one or two" signings. The phrase "we have to be realistic" is used - always a sign of big investment ahead right! He also talks about how the current players need to prove themselves, and how the next preseason will be important for that, implying that we might be giving yet another year to dross in the squad instead of replacing them.Yeah let's expand on a stupidly negative assumption and then keep on making posts on the basis of that. Well done.
I wasn't agreeing with the prices, just the notion of buying an overrated CB. Though considering the reported price last season when Jose wanted him was £75m it wasn't far off. I never said we weren't looking for other players or that we wouldn't buy them. Simply made an observation that if we have a terrible transfer window - AGAIN - after all the talk and optimism beforehand, I will lose what little faith I had in the club to turn things around. That prediction would never happen, it's baseless. Maguire for £80m ffs people absolutely love being pessimistic, in reality by going off any half reliable source we're looking for attackers, midfielders and defenders, not just two defenders.
The revisionism around here at the moment is hilarious. With Mourinho in charge we were 11 points off top 4 by Christmas, judging by that we'd have been over 20 points off by the end of the season.
My post was based on a 'nightmare season', that was the whole point. If we sign two players and potentially lose De Gea, Pogba and Herrera it's going to be a very bad season. Our forwards have been horrific recently, our CBs aren't good enough and neither is Maguire. Romero is rubbish despite the overrating on here. Pogba is our best player despite his current form.I can't see it City & Liverpool are clearly the best 2 teams, then Spurs if they can keep hold of Pochettino, we are the next level along with Chelsea and Arsenal. We are 15-20 points better a season than the rest
unless we have a nightmare season. I'm not in the OSG camp but we are too good to fall out of the top 6.
We were never signing 7 players.so his "1 or 2 players" quote after barca looks more like reality now.

But yeah, everyone's right, we could never finish 7th. Never. That would literally never happen under any circumstance would it. Oh, wait...
