Both Liverpool and City have potential slip ups.

Will be a very interesting end.
I'm half expecting us to draw v Burnley and Liverpool to then bottle it against one of Newcastle/Wolves and City to win it at Brighton on the final day. If we win this it will be a victory that will go down as one of our greatest and most satisfying, or in my view it will be anyway. Not often we'll be involved in title races as intense and frustrating as this one has been. Same applies to Liverpool fans.

If we finish second on 97 points to Manchester City on 98 who won all but one of their last 20 or so games, can we not just say that they were very good?

I get that there are rivalries and misery loves company, but in this case you've got two very good sides competing for one title. Us losing out by a point to a side who would've obtained 198 points over two seasons isn't embarrassing or 'bottling it'. It's losing out to an incredible side.
True. Both deserves to be champions.

Yeah, Sundays massive. Can't say it's been enjoyable watching both yourselves and Liverpool battling out at the top, but you've both been fantastic and I guess the best team will win.

neither team are bottling it even if they drop points, they've both gone past the point of bottling with only dropping 11 points out of a possible 84 since the City Liverpool game, no team has bottled it at all even if they drop point now.
See your point but you could argue it both ways at this stage. In many ways both sides having games left that on paper they SHOULD win, is the ultimate test of bottle. Drop points and you’ve likely lost the title. We’re city to do it against Burnley, or pool do it at home against wolves on the final day, it’s a catastrophic and unlikely result where mental stress has to be factored in.

The best title charge I can remember was Arsenal winning their last 13 games in 2001/2002 (the 12th one at Old Trafford to clinch it), with 23 wins and 3 draws from their last 26 matches.

If City win the title with 14 wins in a row to end the season and 18 wins from their last 19 matches, that would just be insane. Including their last 4 matches in 2016/2017, they would have won 68 out of their last 80 league matches, and would of course match last season's record 32 league victories.

Their last 3 visits to Turf Moor resulted in a 1-0 defeat in 2014/2015 so obviously pre-Guardiola, a 2-1 win in 2016/2017 after going a goal behind, and a 1-1 draw last season, so tomorrow's game there will certainly be interesting. I think they will be held to a frustrating draw there tomorrow, but then again my prediction track record is not particularly good.

After today’s results, it now looks like City’s three remaining opponents will (likely) have nothing to play for against them:

  • Burnley - nine points clear of Cardiff and a vastly superior goal difference
  • Leicester - Wolves’ win today strengthens their 7th place position
  • Brighton - Cardiff’s loss today gives Brighton a great chance of confirming their Premier League status before the final day

Don’t feck this up, you blue bastards.

City are so winning their last 3 games. You just know City are going to win when Guardiola does that stupid evil smirk when being asked about an opposition team in a pre-match press conference...they always do.

Daft, stupid Cardiff. Had to beat the worst team in the PL or at least draw.

Now I'll be relying on Rafa to beat Brighton.

He's definitely out for the Burnley game, and apparently he's wearing a knee brace which doesn't bode well for the two games afterwards.

If City win tomorrow they'll have one hand on the title, imo. But tomorrow is going to be very, very tricky.
Even if City lose or draw tomorrow, it won't be the deciding factor. This will go right to the wire with the last game of the season, and at that stage anything can happen. Pressure does a funny thing to players, as you guys have experienced a few times when its come to the last game of the season, and you are dependent on results elsewhere too. Things don't go as expected. This could go either way, right at the very last game.

I still expect Liverpool to bag this, but it will be right to the wire.

The level of consistency the two teams have shown is beyond remarkable really. The season's title race is one of the best ever.

I don't think the consistency of the top two teams determines how good a title race is. Give me better title 'deciders', more hatred between the teams/managers and more twists and turns anyday over mere consistency.

It's an exciting title race by 2 very good teams it pains me to say.

We are fighting for a top 4 spot and are still 20 odd points away from these 2 teams. A huge building job to do, and as Ole says it will not be done overnight. But we have to start by bringing in at least 5 players this summer to keep us in touch with top 4 and Champions League place while we are still building.

Bringing in the right players will be vital this summer. They must have the right personality and want to play for trophies not big fat wage packets.

Jesus are you for real??!
Everything I said was a fact.

Only Liverpool fans will deny the truth. Bad officiating, goalkeeping howlers such as Pickford and Lloris.

Deflected goals, lack of injuries. Sitters such as Morrison, Hazard and Sissoko at key moments and that's just the last 4 or so games!

A reserve United team with 3 injuries on the day arguably deserved the three points. First team would have won that day.

Liverpool have had a great season but its clear to anybody bar pool fans that everything has went in your favour. Which is why I still believe City could slip up.

Pretty much how I thinking, really hope City can hold out as they’re clearly the superior unit. However injuries to KDB and Fernandinho couldn’t have possibly come at the worse time which again points to me at the luck scousers are enjoying this season.

There were tons of things that went against us, but that won't suit your agenda at all. You want to believe what you want and that's it.

Don't worry, you'll find just how lucky we are this Wednesday.

I think City will win the league if they win at Turf Moor. They'll beat Leicester at the Etihad and are far too good for Brighton even if they themselves have something to play for on the last day.

A 95th-minute winner for City in the spawniest manner possible today, please.

Let’s maximise the Vermin’s torture for the next three games.
:nono: Better they go 3-0 up early on, less stressful.

Feel like 6 games is too small a sample size to base the effect of his absence from, especially when they've won 4 without him anyway.

Still a loss for City but they should still be able to win their games.

Off the top of my head I can remember they had an incorrect offside call against Arsenal and Kompany could have been sent off at the Etihad against them. That's the two biggest calls they've had not go their way. It's inevitable though that any side will have a few big calls go against them every season. Their luck when it comes to opposition mistakes though isn't even up for debate, they've been ridiculously fortuitous at times this season. Nevertheless they have been very good and Klopp's made them into an efficient and coherent side that's solid defensively and can overwhelm any side when they are at their best.

Arsenal one Mane moves towards the ball from an offside position so is interfering with play and offside should have been made at that point.

Kompany one could have been red by some refs. Was a mixed debate about it and really 50/50. Liverpool fans didn't think Van Dijk challenge on Insgine was a red and that was much worse.

They've been incredibely fortunate, on a rate that is hardly seen over the course of the season. City are realistically 90+ points team, that is their level by all accounts. Liverpool are more like Chelsea few seasons ago. A very good team that hugely overachieved points wise, by having everything going their way.

City will have 8 days before their next game.
That seems so strange.

No european football so seems they get the Monday night slot.
Our game got shunted around (for the second time, no worries that fans might have planned...) so that Liverpool could have more time off before the CL semi-final.

To be fair, you couldn't expect us to play Sunday against Newcastle then Tuesday against Barca, so our game had to move to the Saturday. No team would be expected to play with just 1 days rest. (Xmas period excepted)

No doubt your game had to move to Monday for Sky then.

Impressive from City to rebound from their CL heartbreak with successive wins over Tottenham, United away and Burnley away. They definitely have the advantage now, and Liverpool’s remaining fixtures are probably tougher than theirs.

Also in both of the last two seasons, they’ve had 8 wins from their 10 league matches against the other top 6 clubs.

You can only shunt teams that aren't in the CL anymore. And you have to televise City as they are PL winners elect. Not sure what the angst is here.

Incredible consistency.

Mad, then, that their two Champions League exits under Guardiola have been against two of the other top 6 clubs.

Haha sure. The angst is primarily matchgoing fans getting shafted yet again. Surely we can all agree on that? If Liverpool's game had to move then so be it. City's game didn't have to be moved (again).

I have absolutely no time for the CL being prioritised over and above our domestic league either, but that might be more of a discussion.

Then the whole footballing community and associations disagree with you. But it's always important to have your own opinion.
