Hold on, City in 'short of cash' shock?

They can drop £50M on any player they like and leave anther £50M player on the bench.

Scores a goal against Chelsea. Gets two year contract. What a joke this club is.

"The Dutch side are ready to table a bid of 20 million euros for Odegaard with a Madrid-placating buy-back clause, although it will contain a sub-clause stating that the midfielder must spend at least two seasons at the Johan Cruijff Arena. That would give Real the option to bring Odegaard back to the Bernabéu in 2021, should the Liga club wish to do so."

The fact that we're offering him a deal, along with Young, Jones etc leads me to believe we won't be doing a whole lot of business this summer. You can only register a 25 man squad plus homegrown players etc, so we're not leaving much room unless there will be unexpected sales.

Is this place going to melt down at every questionable tweet all summer?

I don't think he fits into the team Ole wants to put together. But Isco's ball retention and composure is seriously lacking in our current team bar the exception of one player.
Isco is a tunnel vision player despite his technique on the ball. His movement is also horrible. I actually feel he's a SS who's masquerading as a no 10 cos he hasn't got the lethal finishing of SS players.

I'm not exactly for Mata staying but I can see why Ole would be. He's one of our best passers, very positive guy, and even though he's slow he is surprisingly at the top of the list when it comes to putting in a shift. (Can probably find the source if need be). He's also very good at keeping possession and doesn't panic under pressure. He was the reason we were the better side against Chelsea. A one year extension doesn't do much harm while we focus on RW, DM, RB, CB. If it's a longer contract then I say no.

Keeping Mata only makes sense if we are planning to primarily use the diamond and are getting rid of Lukaku and Sanchez.

Whether the stories are true or not it will say more about Mata if he does stay. Surely he knows he's got little chance of playing.

We can get 2 more years out of a fully amortised asset. That's what our board must be thinking.
Can only be that. But unfortunately it's not the same in football as say buying a car!

He's barely cut it for a couple of years, so another year or two seems strange and still costs us 5m or so a year

Of all the deadwood Valencia will be the only who'll go.
We pay the deadwood more then Spurs pay the likes of Dele Alli. Why the feck would they leave if we're stupid enough to hyper inflate their value?

Yeah except Young has never been as good as Mata and he's two years older. We'd be keeping him for one more year. It's not the end of the world. And you're just going to ignore my point about prioritizing other positions? Or are you one of those living in footy manager world who think we're getting 7 players in the summer?

I like Mata and he writes nice blogs but there's absolutely no point in keeping him any further.
