Watching his post match interview is a bit cringe to be honest.
He knows we're utter shit, but at the end he throws "we know we're not far away". Then he gets asked the same thing again and he answers "we're many levels behind City and Liverpool".

Dunno, it's starting to sound a bit Moyesesque. Let's hope he'll surprise everyone and turn it around if given the chance. I still think he won't be given the chance though.
It's nowhere near Moyes. He picked up a team who'd cruised the league title, and had them finishing 7th!!

Whereas Ole has picked us up in 6th and finished 6th.

He's damned by how good we were for that long spell.

If Ole doesn't turn out to be good enough it'll take us a long time to recover. We have to hope and pray he's up to the job. Not sure we have enough to have strong faith in. But we have to have some

You still haven't provided a viable solution. Who should we hire, what's their approach, which players should they keep, sell, or buy?
Except people here don't need to provide a viable solution. Ole is just not it.
You are watching this pathetic excuse of a match and still talking about LVG, Mourinho and Lukaku.

The only reason fans want him to stay is because he is a United legend. Feck that he is a below average coach those are the facts and fans are blinded by “love” the fans make it easy for the board to feck up sometimes.

The big question is: Why are we suddenly so shite now when we were great from December-March. The only probable answer seems that the players have downed tools

The next question is then: Should we sack yet another manager? Well what then? We hire a new manager, maybe Poch, he takes over the same team. Maybe he goes on a 10 game winning streak as well and then it all turns to shit and we repeat this miserable dance of sacking managers every 6 months in hope that they will somehow turn this bunch into world beaters.

Honestly, i am much less confident in Ole now then i have been, but i still think this is mostly on the players. I fear that if we sack Ole now we will turn into Chelsea where player power is rampant

As much credit as Ole deserves for the first 15 games post Mourinho, the last 15 have been an implosion of epic proportions which basically nullifies it and casts massive doubts over next season. The team literally can’t do anything right at the moment. Can’t defend, can’t attack, can’t press, can’t run, seems it can’t care either.

I feel he’s in over his head and will be surprised if he sees the next season out. Hope I’m wrong.

Mourinho won trophies and finished second with the side. His third season was the same as almost every club he's been at, he started warring with players and the hierarchy and ended up getting sacked. Look at his last season with Chelsea, he took the champions to near the relegation zone. I don't see him as a barometer here.

Ole looked like he had given up today. He was sat on the bench with a little smile on his face when he should have been in the technical area making adjustments and motivating the players. We needed one goal against a truly wretched side to stay in the hunt for a CL place. That was totally unacceptable.

My guess is that after the Mourinho out bounce and a few defeats players like Pogba have looked at Ole and what's going on behind the scenes and decided that we're going nowhere fast under this regime and want out. A feeling of hopelessness has grown through the squad and it is reflected in the performances we see on the pitch. We are entering a second Moyesian era if we keep hold of Ole in my opinion. Bring a proven manager in and we can attract the level of player that we need this summer.
Most of our players have played for great/good managers they know a bluffer when they see one.

Madrid had Ronaldo. We have the likes of Lukaku. They could afford to swap managers because they had the best player in the world, we can't afford to do it because each new manager changes the squad and players, only to get sacked and leave the next manager with a mess. At some point you have to break the cycle and get behind a manager who you feel an install the ethos you want here.
This is true, but I'm not sure that means Ole is that manager... For all his talk of being ruthless and promoting youth, today was yet another day he started players who have let him down consistently

There's probably plenty of negatives about Ole as our manager, from his tactics to his team selection to his substitutions....

But imo, he's just superb at handling the media. Seems like he always gives good answers.

Yeah but Ole couldn't avoid this worst run of form because erm erm players. Don't worry though with these same players plus 4 additions and a pre-season suddenly we'll be playing good because he understands the united way or something.
Yeah we have great players, nothing cause of them, all is managers blame.

Fecking odd everyone turning on him. The main issue has been the trash by players they've been serving up, they did this earlier in the season and we sacked a manager for it and they just reverted to type. Players have to go this time.

His in-game management is abysmal. He doesn't seem to have any clue on how to swing the flow of the game in his team's favour. The less said about the team's cohesion, the better.

I’ll be very surprised if he lasts until December. It’s gone horribly wrong and I have doubts he’ll be able to execute the restructure needed. Also don’t think top players will be interested in playing for him.

He is done here. Only a matter of time until the sacking next season.

Only a top transfer window and a miracle behind the scenes can save him. Neither will happen

Yeah.

If Ole really does prove himself to be a cock up of epic proportions, this time the blame lies with the fanbase as much as it does with the board.

If OLE has any sense he shouldn't bend over his back to keep players who failed him and this club and expect they can do miracles in next season. Be tough and get rid of them if he thinks they are not fit for this club and build from scratch.

His win percentage since becoming permanent manager is 22%

It was 73.7% while he was an interim.

He is the fresh start for goodness sake!
But he needs the summer to make a big change to the squad first.
I feel us bottling top 4 is going to cost us mentally. Confidence and morality has been low and Ole has not been able to turn it around. Maybe a summer can do wonders, but things could just keep being the same.

It's not the bad results that bother me; it's being unable to turn it around. We seem to have fallen off of a cliff since the PSG match.

Even during our successful period we'd have bad games and lose. Usually we'd grind out a small win the next game to change direction and move on from there. Even accounting for poor players, it seems like a significant weakness in Ole's managerial skills that he hasn't been able to do it.

If you get behind a manager who is not good enough and stick with him for 2-3 seasons, things will get from bad to worse. By the time you understand that he is not the right man, the other top teams might be out of sight.

You can't call it bottling when we were never favourites for it.
We always had a real margin to make up, and only look vaguely close due to how rancid the teams above us were.

Recall a thread on how we outperformed xG quite significantly. While our results were excellent, the performances did tail off a bit in the run.

Unfortunately I think you’re right. There is no clear style or philosophy showing through at this point, which is alarming. Let’s hope he gets a good transfer window

Have a feeling we will be starting a TenHaag thread soon

Madrid had done it way before Ronaldo, other clubs did it too.

Look I agree about Woodward, he's a huge part of the problem. But the rest, I don't about. I think Ole genuinely likes some of the players and that will be confirmed when next season starts and the same players who have let us down start games.

I like some of the stuff Ole says, but its been all talk so far. This summer is a massive, massive one and we have no DOF. Good times
I think we agree for the most part. You see, I dont think our problem is with the manager. I think the problem, sadly, run a lot deeper. If Ole and the club cant turn things around, then fine, he need to go. But we cant know before he has a full preseason under his belt.

That said, our club and board need to stand by Ole. They need to change the setup. If not, we might struggle for years with new managers coming and going.

We had it in the bag at multiple points in time if we only had performed well.

But we were favourites before the Arsenal game, and winning that game would have put it in our hands. Its been cluster feck ever since that game.

I see people love blaming the manager but clearly it's down to the players.

The players can't even be bothered doing the basis right by putting in the effort and not making silly mistakes, let alone scoring goals when presented with clear cut chances

Well if it wasn’t for his good spell at the beginning and if we only played like we play now from his start we would be well below 6th. So he’s not damned by his early success - it merely partially makes up for current shambles and helps him in not being first United manager in ages to bring us below 7th.

I can't find fault with him, are there things he could have done better? Sure, may be. However every single loss can be pointed down to an individual error that would be considered comical two levels below the premier league.
