Champions League Semi Finals (30th April - 8th May)

Roma did the same last season though. Although Liverpool needed one more goal due to 3-0 vs 4-1 defeat in the first one.

Barca were complacent and arrogant going into that 2nd leg against Roma last year, and I thought they would have been desperate to avoid a repeat this season.

Maybe Depor vs. Milan in 2004 rivals this, especially give how strong Milan were looking with Shevchenko, Kaka, Pirlo etc.

Funny that the ref even missed giving Liverpool a clear pen. My Liverpool biased friends wanted two pens too and a crazy baised premier league ref could have given them 3.

If you mean Alba holding Origi. It's a penalty but honestly for me too less for CL semi.

Klopp's eye for a player is impressive. He has transformed the Liverpool squad and first team lineup since 2016.

Mignolet, Clyne, Lovren, Toure, Moreno, Milner, Can, Lallana, Firmino, Coutinho, Sturridge was the starting lineup for the 2016 Europa League Final.
Alisson, TAA, Van Dijk, Matip, Robertson, Keita, Henderson, Wijnaldum, Mane, Firmino, Salah would be the average lineup for the 2018-19 season.

Mignolet, Clyne, Lovren, Moreno, Milner, Lallana, Firmino and Sturridge are still at Anfield but only Firmino is a current regular.

In a strange way it should give OGS heart. If he is backed and his judgment is good he too could transform this United squad in 2 years. It can be done.

Shaqiri was fecking shite tonight. No sure why you bring him up.
To think that they beat Barcelona 4-0 while one of their attackers was absolute shite (still had an assist, mind you) - yeah, I hate football this season.

I'm just glad we didn't beat Barca by accident like we did PSG. Liverpool destroying us would have been worse than this come back

I just woke up. Left work early cause I was not feeling well. Took some medication and slept. Woke up, saw Liverpool 4-0 Barcelona on my phone, went to the bathroom, and did a double take 5 minutes later.

Wow.

What a game of football. Beautiful to watch. Congratulations to Liverpool, must admit I was quite happy for them come the final whistle, which is odd as I was actively rooting for Barca at the Camp Nou. As for Barcelona, what a ridiculous bunch of bottlers.

Barcelona fans on here. You simply overrated this Barcelona side that aren't a patch on their 2009-2011 teams and underrated Liverpool especially in Anfield!!

I also remarked before the game that complacency is a killer. 3-0 up and Liverpool without their two best players and Barcelona thought the tie was won, some pair of clowns... and they now go back to Spain with their tail between their legs. Worse of all they were shambles in defence tonight, Huddersfield defended better v Liverpool.

So they we have it Liverpool without any doubt will win their 6th champions league title will now thanks mostly Barcelona tonight and to Spurs and VAR for knocking Man City out.

It was the shirt pull on Van Dijk in my view. Pretty much stopped a goal. Although it is good for us that the refs don't give pens for that given how Smalling plays.

I’m mentally and physically gutted after that. I don’t know about the rest of you but I’ll never hear the end of all of this. I’ve literally got a fight on my hands now to show some resilience over the next month. Sick of this season.

Can’t stand Liverpool but congrats to them tonight. They were fantastic and so were their fans.
When was the last time OT rocked like that? These days it’s the away fans who make all the noise at our place!
Credit to Kloop as well for getting a performance like that from his men.
Over to you City & Ajax!

Not sure about overachieving. I think the only place they could actually improve is perhaps adding someone more creative in midfield, but I am not sure how else they could make their first team better. I think they could definitely improve their depth, but they would be almost unbeatable if they do.

Van Dijk - arguably the best cb in the world
Alexander-Arnold - I think he is the best rb this season. Can't think of anyone else.
Roberston - Again, arguably the best lb this season.

Alisson - Don't think you can get a better goalkeeper.

Salah - One of the best wingers in the world.
Mane - One of the best wingers in the world.
Firmino - Quality player

But their central midfield doesn't need that extra creativity, it's not needed because that's not their role. Their role is to provide the energy, win the ball back, press and feed it to the forwards or in space for them and push up to make numbers and have a pop or two. If the central midfielders step up, so does the backline and now you're pinned back as a team.

Didn't see that. Just started to watch the match around 25th min. Fecking kid didn't do his homework...

We played 5 games at home in Europe this season and scored 1 goal.

Against the top 4 at home this season we scored 1 goal.

It's hard to get noisy and passionate when you're watching the utter dogshit we've seen at Old Trafford this year.

Were they his purchases or your DOF?

The worst part is it just highlights how obviously really shit we are, because Barca beat us comfortably whilst barely getting out of second gear at OT.

Liverpool are class. So annoyingly watchable, but completely unwatchable because it's Liverpool.

If we had half of their effort and application, we'd be 3rd in the Premier League.

This just proves how far away we are. Whilst we are failing to beat the worst team in the Premier League this year by even a single goal, Liverpool (without two of their star forwards) turn round a 3-0 deficit against the same Barca that have just beaten us 4-0 in the quarter finals.

It hurts me to say, they fully deserved it, and I just wish that our players could show that heart and effort. As a United fan that was an awful 2 hours but as a football fan credit where credit is due. guess we're all Ajax fans now.

Can you please post this on the OGS thread as well? there is a lot of hate for OGS there before even giving him any chance of overhauling the team

Pretty sure there were reports he didn’t even want Salah.
This is true. I was told by my mates dad whos been a Livershite fan for over 40 years that their transfer committee recommended Salah. Klopp wanted some german, can't remember the name right now my head is too fecked.

In one game, Liverpool scored 4 times the amount of goals we scored at OT in the CL this season.

Against FC Barcelona.

Ours was a handball goal by Fellaini against Young Boys.

:(

The development of my reaction to reading this.

So Suarez kicks out at Robertson, Robertson goes off, Wijnaldum replaces Robertson and scored two goals......

I was hoping I could actually enjoy the final after such a horrible season as a neutral but now I have to support Ajax or Tottenham as if it was United playing

Hope Ole pins the image of them with the double/ them with the CL tropht and City with the league up in our dressing room and uses it to motivate them to prevent this happening again

Can see Brighton getting something at the weekend too :nervous:

What happens when your full backs can actually cross and your players actually run and press as if they actually want to win. Barca were very poor and they were just passing it around when losing almost like watching a better passing version of us... if we could have finished our chances

Commentators were loving it

Already have several times. I said you'd do it last week.
Fair play then, I really thought we had next to no chance with our injuries and the result in the first leg. Even towards the end of the game I fully expected us to concede a goal.

Yesterday and tonight have been two fecking nerve wrecking games, haven't been able to fully enjoy either of them. So tomorrow will make for a nice change to just relax and watch the footie.

Goals Barcelona conceded were so soft, schoolboy defending, Wiynaldum scoring a header completely unmarked.

Another ton of cash for liverpool for getting to the final incoming. Hopefully they ask Ed who they should spend it on.
