I guess he's off to psg or madrid, very good player but still don't rate him as world class and don't like his childish attitude and his clause is around 150m

Hes going to flop so hard at Barcelona. Very overrated and system dependent. Annoying as feck on top of that.

He has performed for both France and Atletico though? And Sociedad before that. He’s an excellent player.

Feck this absolute self-absorbed clown. Hope he never wins a single thing again in his career. Fecking drama queen.

Used to be world class. Not anymore. Hes still a good player but like I said, extremely system dependent. He's not going to stand out much at Barca, he's not individually that quick and hes not much of a creator. Hes a clinical player, but also one that'll have an earlier decline. Hell hes already started with his decline IMO.

Yeah surprised by all the negativity about him. I've never really seen him as a dislikeable character either, compared to likes of Diego Costa and Suarez anyway.

Don't know if he'll help them win CL but sort of signing will keep them as number one in la Liga.

He gives Barca more flexibility in final third, can play as leading striker or out wide in the three so they can rest Messi much more for run of the mill La Liga games. Suarez still posts very good scoring figures but he's been declining all round for last 18 months.

Barca didn't have an out and out striker on the bench at Anfield. Let's say next season they play a similar tie, they'll have Griezmann starting and Suarez on the bench so that feels a little bit more fruitful if they need an away goal.

In which he was far from the star of the show in a system built to get the most out of him... Mostly average performances, a couple of good ones.

Again, hes just incredibly overrated imo. You dont have to agree, but in my opinion hes just not going to have a big impact at Barca.

They might be forced to sell either or could be both Coutinho & Dembele. But, I would say this is where Ed needs to use his brain and taking this as advantage by not rushing through the transfer. We can get the player cheaper by making them desperate to sell & also prevent them for buying De Ligt.

You're both underrating him and misunderstanding him as a player imo.

Griezmann is the complete opposite of a system player. He sacrifices himself for the team, can play anywhere and he's very well rounded, does everything well.

He can play wide or in the middle with no problem. He had better seasons than this one but he's not declining... he's 28 years old.

With that said, pretty much every attacking player in the world would find it hard to succeed in this Barcelona team since they make every attack go through Messi. A name like Griezmann should have them change approach to a more colective game though. He's way too good to fail, it's only a question of if they get the best out of him or not.

I'm not anti Scottish, I just wanted Moyes out.
It just shows you how a top club striving to improve should be run.

United persist with the likes of Lingard, Young and Jones giving them endless opportunities even though they have been stinking the place up for years.

Barcelona have Coutinho, Dembele and Malcolm and they could easily say ‘let’s give them another year to see if they can progress’, but no, they go out and sign Griezmann. And De Jong.
Agree. Good post.

Oh how our fortunes may of been different had Madrid not got that transfer ban and we got Griezmann instead of Lukaku :(
Damn, now I'm sad :(. La decision/goal celebrations aside, he's one of the best forward out there, will start at any clubs in the world, excellent finish, first touch, passing, one-touch play, work-rate, pretty much everything you want from your forward.

Cant say I agree with him playing every position very well. He sacrifices himself, sure, but hes not very effective out wide for example, he goes missing in a lot of games/systems and really needs a specific striker to get the best out of him playing as a second striker. You say he's not declining, but I really don't see the same sharpness in him, the same agility, and in general the same level he had at his very best season. 28 isnt an unheard of year to start a slight decline. Lose some reaction time like Alexis Sanchez did and it doesnt take long to fall. Same with Rooney. That's not to say hes shit, far from it. Just that theres plenty of top sides where I just dont see how he would get in to their starting 11. Look at both City and Liverpool. He doesnt get in their starting teams. He has this reputation of being one of the very best in the world, when he's not all that close to that anymore (and only really had the one or seasons where he was truly world class).

Also he's very far from what Barca need IMO, and I don't see what he really brings to them. Suarez worked brilliantly because he could be a main striker and handle anyone physically with his aggression while Messi dropped off. The other player like Dembele would also make runs in behind with their pace. Griezmann isn't that quick these days (was never blistering anyway, but had quicker reactions), while he's also not going to replace Suarez at all. So you'll have Dembele, Messi and Griezmann kind of floating around but not really having a proper spot. It's just a signing which isnt suited to them IMO.

I agree with @bosnian_red

I think Griezmann is a very poor fit for Barcelona.

The scenes if Valverde trots out a front 3 of Griezmann-Suarez-Messi. He's truly lost it then.

Completely disagree, not just that there's 'plenty' of sides he doesn't get in the starting 11, but also that he's not getting into Liverpool or City, might rotate more at City than at Liverpool but he would be a starter. You are definitely underrating him there IMO.

As far as Barca not needing him, I agree with you there. They could use a guy like Jovic more than a guy like Griezmann. They'll take a loss on Coutinho as well if they decide to get Griezmann because I don't see them getting rid of Dembele and I can't see how you keep all of those players.

I think that has a lot more to do with him playing for Atletico than it has to do with him as a player. He goes missing sometimes because it's impossible to show up every time when the team attacks so little.

He doesn't need a physical striker to get the best out of him, he's a very versatile player and there are different versions of Griezmann depending on the team. Atletico's 4-4-2 was very unique and France ended up playing a somewhat similar style but the more attacking the team is, the better he should end up looking imo.

I think fatigue has definitely played its part, having long european campaigns year after year and Euros and World Cup finals during the summer can't be easy especially when he works as hard as he does.

Don't think he's declined though, he doesn't depend on his physical atributes.

Also he's very far from what Barca need IMO, and I don't see what he really brings to them. Suarez worked brilliantly because he could be a main striker and handle anyone physically with his aggression while Messi dropped off. When players are this good I don't think it matters, they'll figure something out. I agree that he's not really a natural fit but I doubt it will be a problem.

He is annoying and if he goes to PSG, his fights with Neymar will be fun to watch.
Anyways, I think he will be successful wherever he goes. It is a good thing he is leaving Atletico.

Pretty bad a** move by Atleti to announce it publicly like that.

Barcelona, like United, is a club in decline, at least for next 5,6 years. Once Messi is gone, their fall will accelerate. This move just shows their desperation. I hope they won't be able to sign De Ligt even if it means city or pool sign him instead.

Dont agree with that statement at all, they have just walked their league again this year. How can you compare them to us. They have been recruiting talented youngsters for a while now as they knew the old guard was declining. Lenglet, Umiti, De Jong, Arthur, Dembele. They are supposed to be signing the De Ligt as well this year.

You need to add in Lenglet and De Jong there. Rakitic will go. If they get De Ligt this summer, Umiti may be sold

If griezmann going to barca means that coutinho is forced out then I'd still take coutinho here at United especially if pogba leaves too.

Let's be honest when he was at liverpool he was top quality so hes already prem proven. Hes still young enough and would immediately be our best attacker or midfielder. If Barca are desperate to sell to fund griezmann then we may get him cheaper than usual.

What an absolute cnut this guy is. Sick of mercenaries like him. Woody, keep well away. Would probably want out after 6 months.
He'd never come - no top player wants to join a mess of a club like us. An unproven manager, crap football, having to be part of a rebuilding process...the best players just want to win, and win now.

Surprised he’s leaving. He likes everything to be about him all the time. Wonder how he’s going to react to being just another player in Barca’s team? They’ll certainly be no more documentaries!

To be fair it’s all about how you sell it. At the moment we’re a blank canvas waiting for a new generation of players to come through and make themselves legends in the next 5 years. That would appeal to an ego like Griezmann
