at the bottom of Ole’s wheel
I think people love to create definite's over a misunderstanding, especially on the internet. Everyone in the world know's Rojo isn't the DM answer we need at the club long term, but if Ole can't get rid of his huge list of players in one season, it would make sense to have Rojo play in Matic's position next season so we literally don't have to play Matic anymore. I'm sure there would be a replacement the following summer, of course that is if Rojo doesn't end up being brilliant.

I honestly wouldn't mind giving him a go next season seeing as we can't replace the whole team. Rojo seems to be one of the one's that actually cares about the club. We all remember his training strike when Sporting rejected a bid.
Is this a pisstake ?

Ole absolutely loves Rojo, wants him to be a DM, yet has never played him there when his been fit.

Ole thinks he can turn Martial around, a day after the press reported he wants him gone, but Joel Glazer thinks he’s Pele.

We’re waiting to see if Madrid want to sell any of their midfielders?! Some transfer strategy that is. Why aren’t we waiting to see if City will sell any of theirs because they’d massively improve us. And we’re interested in a boy from Benfica, who if it’s the right Fernandes, has played 17 first team games.

AWB is keen on a move to United, a week after saying he wants to stay in London and at Palace.

PSG have massively blown the Rabiot thing out of proportion, but we’ve seen countless interviews with him and his mum, which suggests PSG haven’t blown it out of proportion and Rabiot does indeed have a poor attitude/mentality, as seen from his early Man City academy days right up to the French National team.

It seems if you write up some big paragraphs dressed up as ITK, it gets credence?

It should be closer to 16 - DDG-cash in while he has a high value, Valencia-already gone, Young-get rid, Darmian-at last, TFM-not good enough, Jones-please do it, Smalling-likewise, Rojo-Can't believe he's still here, Matic- legs have gone, Herrera-jumped ship, Fred- what went wrong, Pogba- wants away, Perriera- not good enough, Mata- past it (2 years ago), Lingard-offers nothing, Lukaku-not a United player, Sanchez-what a waste of money, there you are, 16 easy!
The issue is - we cant do it all in 1 window, which is an issue as some names needed to leave seasons ago are still here.

Valencia/Herrera/Mata = Two already gone, other has yet to sign a contract
DDG/Periera - Contract nearing an end
Jones/Smalling/Darmian/Rojo/Lingard/Sanchez/Young = Not good enough/no place in squad
Pogba/Martial/lukaku = Talented, but probably not the players to move forward with + they may want to leave
Bailly/Mctominey/Fred = Injury/form/young = need to improve (not guaranteed starters)

Its a tricky one - say if Pogba kicks up a fuss and wants to leave, he'd be the 4th to go this summer (if mata leaves), which in turn increases the chances of deadwood like Lingard staying for example.

For the summer window, i'd focus on this:
Outgoings:
Sanchez/Darmian/Jones/Pogba/Lingard (already have Herrera/Valencia gone)
Incomings:
Wan Bissaka/Rice/James. we'd also need a CB and CM to replace Pogba

With an eye on the future windows, for outgoings:
Lukaku/Martial/Smalling/Rojo/Bailly

Massive overhaul needed.

Our CM will be vital, we are seriously lacking there

 People in here are desperate not to believe anyone who claims to be ITK.

The guy has nailed everything since last year and he's proved to the mods on the subreddit that he has a credible source. Don't understand all the anger aimed at him for sharing information he's privy to.
I am not familiar with this guy and his track record but some of what he posted is clearly bollocks. Look at this bit for example:

Ole gave Woodward a list of names he wants gone during his final "interview" for the job when he was made permanent. The list was apparently massive and Woodward and he eventually agreed to narrow it down over the course of 2-3 years to avoid having too many in's and out's all this summer whilst they try to be a bit smarter about things. This would explain why Young, Smalling and Jones were given new deals, as they will simply be let go when their deals conclude (the feeling is they're not going to be worth much in a transfer fee, so replace them one-by-one every year in a more fluid and logical manner).

Jones and Young signed new contracts a month before Solskjaer was made permanent manager and Smalling signed his before Solskjaer was even appointed as the interim manager. His claim that all three were given new contracts as some sort of plan agreed when Solskjaer was given the permanent job is clearly a lie which he didn't fact check before posting.

He also gets a few other obvious things wrong like saying that Pereira and Darmian could leave for free this summer when both have had their contracts extended by another year for example.

It's always convenient how these ITKs never come up with anything new. It's just the rumours we've seen for the last few weeks with a new spin. No big rumours for midfield targets, wait for the swap deal rumours with Pogba to look credible.

That was someone else, the guy who made this huge post is a moderator for reddevils or r/soccer.

I don't think we will see more than 3 top class signings this summer, but I will be happy with it if we manage to sign Koulibaly and Sancho along with a first-choice RB, and manage to keep our top players. By bringing in 3 top class players in our weakest positions, the rest of the team will get far better working conditions and our starting 11 would improve massively. I know that we need an overhaul of the squad in order to win major titles again, but this will not happen in a single transfer window.

Interesting reddit post from a verified ITK:
Hope this is from a legit source, if so, then we might actually see some sunlight next season.

Not suprised by OGS massive list of players wanting to leave. And a number of players on a 1 year "trial".
Butt showing muscles is good to see, seems like one of the few at the club that are more than competent and with the academy looking like the only place at the club where the players actually developes and improves, then we should definetively getting better players into it.

Sensible in regards to the Pogba and DDG issues.

Still, strange to have such an important transfermeeting so late... Many players and clubs have more or less decided what they should do some time ago, regardless of CL being secured or not.

Can we just sign players on their mid 20's, just like when we signed Cantona, Vidic, Evra, Yorke, RvN and Carrick; players who're on the cusp.

I'm sick of us buying these 18-21 y.o. toddlers who have to be babysits, and us to put up with their inconsistencies because they're "another 4 years project"??
You want us to buy players who entering their prime.
This would cost a lot...especially for top quality talent.
It's generally cheaper to buy "projects".

The transfer window opens. Bell rings in distance

Shout from unseen off screen “He wants to play bloody Rojo in midfield!”

Dany, astride her welsh dragon ‘Bale’ snorts at camera. She’s not wearing makeup! Eugh how disgusting her unmade up face is with rage!

Dany flies over Old Trafford and gives the order for the dragon to destroy the ground with fire. The Sir Alex Ferguson stand is first to fall. Underneath it Paul Pogba and Jessie Lingard embrace each other as the rubble collapses upon them.

Ed Tyrion Woodward creaks his little neck up at the sky and sees his empire crumbling..

Does anyone in Accounts know how much money we could realistically spend without falling foul of FFP or making up fake sponsors to help with budget?

My favourite piece from that reddit ITK:

"Ole apparently fecking loves Marcos Rojo and see's him as a potential DM conversion"
The thing about Rojo is he is pretty New Crazy. It’s not a bad thing to have a crazy person in the team but is is just stupid sometimes as well. He could most likely do a job as a DM and will most likely run his arse of but why does he ‘fecking love him’

They were "non-fancy" names. We don't have to get "top quality talents".

And buying "projects" like Sancho and de Ligt is not that much cheaper, too.

Rojo in midfield should become the meme of the season.

The guy can barely hack it as a defender
Maybe his rashness will be fine in midfield. When he's in the back line it can cost us but maybe if he's given free range in midfield he'll actually be alright

I'm fine with it as long as it's not our answer to the midfield. Still need to sign another DM.

Oh, you're going to be quoted a lot after this one!
Personally i think Ødegaard is pretty good, and wouldn't mind if we got him cheap.

He's taken *enormous* steps this season. Rumours are that Ajax are trying to pry him away from Real Madrid.

He would be an incredible asset on our midfield. I am shocked that there are so few people suggesting him. He would be a playmaking machine on a fast paces Man Unitd team

 I don’t believe any of that nonsense.

Give any united fan 30 minutes and he could write rubbish like that, all he’s done is just rehash newspaper reports and built on them slightly.

I'd be happy if we only got Sancho, De Ligt, Wan Bissaka, and Saul (and picked up Alderweireld for free) and called it a day.

We could offload Sanchez, Rojo, Darmian, one of Bailey/Jones and push Young to the bench and that would be quite a good window.

I think he'd been great. As a Norwegian i (we?) have seen more of him than most on here, so we know how good he is. Just read through the thread about him, most here already made up their mind about him, and won't change. So it's going to be hopeless to argue with them.

Muppet season has arrived and it's in full swing.
Personally, I think we'll get 1 biggish transfer in and 2 small transfers. That's it.
The problem we have is that structure of the club remains the same and while this is the case, even a top class manager will find it difficult to flourish. We are run to make money, not to win trophies.
